First we all had a little chuckle when Seth Rollins ex girlfriend hacked his Twitter account and posted nude pictures of him a few months ago. If you remember it was in retaliation for a supposed affair with an NXT Diva he was having. Nothing came of it.
Now we've learned that Chris Jericho has had his Twitter and Instagram accounts hacked. While this isn't earth shattering news by any stretch of the imagination, the fact that he's been hacked 3 times in 2 days is absolutely hilarious.
The first time the hackers posted some pornographic photoshopped pictures of him, along with various tweets about him and Vince McMahon. They were quickly removed, and Jericho got his accounts back. Instead of letting sleeping dogs lie, Jericho went on the offensive and basically gave the hackers the middle finger.
Well it didn't work out too well for him, because he was immediately hacked again, and all his pictures on Instagram were removed. Again he decided to poke the bear, and got hacked again. This time the hackers basically told him how they were doing it and if he wanted it to stop how to go about it.
Presumably he's taken their advice and this will be the end of it. This brings us to a bigger issue. The WWE relies on social media to get the word out and all the WWE Superstars use Twitter, Instagram and other vehicles to promote themselves and upcoming events. If you are running a product that is geared mainly towards kids, do you really want your son or daughter logging on and seeing nude pictures of their favourite WWE Superstar.
Now some might say that's overreaching a bit, but it's already happened, because their accounts are tied to WWE.com, Rollins pictures showed up there for a short time. While no one is saying anyone should stop using social media to promote themselves, and hackers will always find a way in if they want.
In my opinion Jericho handled it all wrong. He should have kept his mouth shut, changed his password and security settings and let it go. There is nothing to be gained by telling someone to just hacked your social media to "go fuck themselves" because if they did it once, they'll do it again. In this case they did it three times.
This will happen again to another WWE Superstar, and when it does hopefully they will handle it differently. Thoughts?
