Jeff Hardy - Should he win again?

Sivsyboi

Pre-Show Stalwart
I've been reading around and noticed that ever since Hardy won the No.1 contenders match after Backlash, nobody seems to think he's a worthy title contender. Why?

Also, in the past year Hardy and Edge have had 3 matches. 2 for the title, one a SNME. Why have I seen quotes like 'for the 92nd time'? It's still a perfectly respectable feud...so live with it!

Hardy always get heat here. He is a spot monkey who doesn't do enough flying tiger space drops for the smarky crowds liking.

I am a Hardy fan, and I too can't understand how a former world champ isn't a worthy contender for anything.

Hardy and Edge have put on good matches together for over a decade now. I like watching them work. I don't understand the hatred.

I'm also a Hardy fan and it's not like he doesn't get title shots left and right. Before last year, the last title shot he got was in 2002. There will probably be another Hardy/Edge match at Extreme Rules and it will be just as good as their past encounters have been.

Im a big fan of Jeff, I have no issues with him but the case is with alot of guys in the forum is that as soon as someone gets a reaction from the crowd and holds the big belt people end up hating on him, ala John Cena, Batista, Edge etc, the fact is it just happens even Triple H the guy who helped carry the company so many times gets heat from alot of folkes on this and every other forum, its just a way of life i suppose.

Maybe if Broklyn Brawler gets the title people will stop Complaining.

I too am Hardy fan and I also can't understand why he is getting all the heat at the moment. It maes no sense. What I think is a possibility is the same thing that happened with Cena. He is becoming so over that people feel as though they have to cheer for him in a way. Fan favourites will always be met with some heat I think. People sometimes just wanna cheer differently from others

Don't ask me. I like Hardy, but can understand how some people can look at his style and complain it's nothing but spot after spot. I see the improvement he's gone through though, and can appreciate the work he's put in.

Some don't like him because of his drug past, but that's silly to call him a non-credible competitor because of drug problems no one in the general fan base knows about. It can only be because they don't take him seriously, which I don't understand. He's a former world champion, and he wasn't booked horribly in that reign. Badly, but not horribly. At least it wasn't Punk's title reign.

I honestly don't know. He's over with the crowd, he doesn't make a complete fool of himself in the ring, and he can get his fans into the match. He's no Cena, but the fact that he's able to entertain someone automatically makes him better than Orton.

I'm sure most of the IWC will end up not agreeing with me but anyways I was interested in the replies so....

Do you think Jeff Hardy should win the WWE or WHC again?

Now, wether or not he is leaving in a few months I'd like to know your opinions on the guy. Try to be honest. Don't just post "No, he's just a fucking spot monkey". That shit is not what I'm after. Go into why you don't think he should if that's how you feel.

I think he should get another reign. Here are my reasons.

Jeff's first run was completey useless. Other than giving Matt his heel turn the reign was booked so bad. We didn't see any defences until the Rumble. He wasn't even on TV other than pre recorded segments. He didn't get a chance to do some live promo/match stuff whilst champion and was completely thrown out to the dogs. I think he really deserves another reign, one that is meaningful. One for at least 3 months or so. Give him a chance to get in the ring and feud with someone. Give him another crack because as much as the majority of IWC thinks he's shit he is completely over with the audience.

Jeff is a great talent and very over. There is money in him being champion and I see a different Jeff than a few years ago. He just has something about him that screams he's matured and won't be another risk to the wellness policy. He just seems so much more in tune with the business compared to a few years ago.

Anyways, let me know what you think.

If he just re-signed......yessir. He's versatile enought to fued w/everyone on Smackdown now that none of the big 4 are there. A fued with Mysterio, Jericho, Punk or maybe Morrision would be big this year. I like this idea...

Normally, I'd say no. To be honest, to me, Jeff just does not look like Championship material. Sure, he's had some good matches, but he's more-or-less a one trick pony (HA! I didn't say spot monkey). He has little to no ground game, and relies heavily on aerial assaults, which is sometimes his downfall.

A face champion, being chased by a heel, isn't that exciting. There's no reason to get into it if the good guy is already the champ. Now, if a heel is the champion, the audience is more than likely going to be more invested in said match because they want to see the bad guy fall.

Besides, if Hardy wins, do we really want to see Edge win the title AGAIN?? I'd rather just keep the title on him for now.

His last reign was booked terribly. He didn't get a chance, and only served to turn Matt. I do think that with Jeff, the chase will always be more interesting. His struggle to attain the title was well booked for over a year. HHH put him over, which means something in the WWE.

I want to see someone hold the title for a year or more. I'm not sure Jeff is that guy, but I would like him to win it again. Edge doesn't need it anymore to be over. I can't even remember the last PPV without Edge in a title match. Let Hardy win it and feud with Jericho for a while and then put Morrison over. I think he could be a great champion for a four month reign.

I'm a big fan of both these wrestlers, and love the show the two of them put on in the ring. Edge and Jeff have put on amazing shows since they began facing each other during their tag team days, and I hope that they have kept it up, continuing the high quality of matches today. I hope Jeff gets at least one more shot at the title before he moves onto something else.

Now for MDPunk's question.

I think Hardy should get another title reign. His first one left a lot to be desired, lasting only a little over a month, and only feuding with one person. I think if Jeff is given the belt again, he should be allowed to explore the world outside of Edge. In the last year he had a small feud with MVP, another one with HHH, and then fought with Edge and Matt for the rest of the year. I think now that Smackdown is full of entirely new wrestlers, Jeff needs to have some feuds with other guys. One with Jericho would be great, as Jericho's character would be perfect for calling out Jeff on his substance abuse problems. He could feud with Jericho for a while, and maybe another heel for a brief period of time, like Kane, and then drop I think he should drop it to Morrison. This would make his title reign very exciting, and help put Morrison over in the end.

Sure, simply for the fact that it would be interesting. It's all well and good to play it safe with the same old faces holding titles, but it's just much more interesting when someone who isn't typically a championship contender gets the belt.

That's why CM Punk was a good world champion, why The Miz will be a good world champion (watch this space) and why Brian Kendrick was such a good interim world champion.

They hardly explored all the options available to them when he had his last reign. If they hadn't taken the WWE Championship off Jeff at the Rumble and they'd still had the Brother vs. Brother match at Mania, you'd have tow main eventers now. Currently it's just the same as it's always been.

Who gives a shit if Jeff vs. Matt isn't a big enough match for the WWE Championship at Mania. Neither was Cena/Big Show/Edge, and people shit all over Orton vs. HHH.

So yeah, what Sam said.

I agree Hardy should have another title win as they didn't do anything with his first one. It would be something different on Smackdown and have a chance to have a title feud without Edge for a while. Only problem is besides Edge, Jericho is the only major heel and where will they go after that because Punk is not turning heel. Probably a Hardy/Umaga feud but that's been done a lot but it's WWE though.

The reason Hardy isn't wanted to be Champion by Vince is because Hardy won't suck his or anybody body else in management's cock. That's also probaby the reason Jeff isn't on the immunity from the wellness policy list like John Cena, Triple H and Batista. I know I'm going a little off topic here, but we all know Cena does steroids, or atleast something illegal. Hell look at Batista, there's no way he's doing nothing. Hell Jeff smokes a damn joint and is gone for 30 days. It's utter and complete crap.

I don't see why not.
I know there's the whole trust issue, Vince is probably too scared to put the belt on the guy for longer than a month in case Jeff gets in trouble and the WWE is once again in a bad position.
But the guy has been clean for a while, he's the most over face on SD and he draws. People want to see Jeff Hardy on top, because it's "inspirational" or whatever. He may have terrible mic skills, but he more often than not puts on good matches.
He didn't get a decent chance from his first reign, so I say put the title on him for a medium length reign, it'll be interesting to watch.

If he just re-signed......yessir. He's versatile enought to fued w/everyone on Smackdown now that none of the big 4 are there. A fued with Mysterio, Jericho, Punk or maybe Morrision would be big this year. I like this idea...

Best response in the thread by far !!!!!!

Yes, as long as he's locked into a new contract, they should give him the strap. Jeff is as over with the crowd as any wrestler I've seen in the past five years.

Sure, there are a lot of IWC haters, but have you ever heard a live crowd boo the guy ?? Sure, he can be a spot monkey, but Edge used to be a spot monkey too and he's turned into a pretty damn good guy who helps carry the WWE.

My only concern is that Jeff needs help on the mic. He is kind of hard to listen to, but time can help fix that problem - it's only recently that he has been given a chance to speak.

Totally. I am a Hardy mark for sure. His mic skills are improving a tiny bit. He seems to be getting more comfortable on the stick. His last title reign was only memorable because it was his first, other than that it sucked. He is one of the most over peoplf on the roster. He deserves it.
