Jakks Vs. Mattel

I have been collecting WWE figures for a while now. Once Jakks and WWE ended their agreement I was wondering who would take over. Turns out Mattel did. I for one liked the Jakks figures more. They were bigger and cheaper. Mattel has smaller figures but they have more detail and a name tag stand. What do you guys think? Whose figures are better? Jakks Pacific or Mattel?

I have to say they both have there finer points but I to prefer the Jakks over the Mattel figures. The Jakks figures are a bit bigger and were more cost effective for sure. Me and my son had a mini Royal Rumble with his figures the other night and Big Daddy Cool Diesel won!

The Mattel figures are leaps better than the Jakks figures. Mattel's figures are actually in scale, where as Jakks figures had random scale issues. My kid brother has a Diesel figure that is shorter than the Shawn Michaels it came with. That is all kinds of ridiculous. Jakks use to be quality figures, but then Mattel took over and blew them out of the water. Plus Jakks got sloppy towards the end. Figures would be released without any detail at all. Triple H is plain black trunks, Christian in plain black tights, Jack Swagger is a plain black singlet, etc...

Mattel goes more in depth with their figures and it shows. They are actually scale with guys behind as close in size representation as you can get. They are greatly detailed and the face scans are up to par. Plus Mattel's production in a year alone trumps Jakks. They've pretty much released most of the active roster, whereas it would have taken forever to get the roster up to date. Mattel seems to actually care about the production of the figures and the collectors.

I just got to post another reply here. I have been astonished by the amount of figures they have released. Like Theo said they have almost the entire roster out but more legendary names such as Demolition, Hillbilly Jim, George Steele and RANDY SAVAGE! They also have the regular legends like Million Dollar Man, Roddy Piper and Jimmy Snuka. Just imagine an Andre the Giant figure?

Jakks. They actually have the proper attire and belts/props for the legends. I don't like the classic superstars attire.

Mattell Figures are lame. They are made cheaply and cost way more. I own over 300 Classic Superstars and quit collecting when they made the Jump from Jakks. I purchased a Randy Orton Mattell and once it was opened and inspected, I made my final decision to abandon the new figures. It's pretty sad that Jakks never finished making the Classic's before the contract ran out. They were on a hell of a role.

An Andre figure was scheduled for an Elite Scale Legends Ring, but it doesn't seem that is getting released. I'd expect it to get done soon.

How are the Mattel legends figures not proper? Mattel recently put out the classic IC title with a Mr. Perfect and Ultimate Warrior, plus they are putting out the current IC title and WWE title with the Elite Sheamus and Drew McIntyre. The Randy Savage Defining Moments figure is great and spot on to his WM7 attire. Look at some of the spoilers, Mattel has been nothing but fantastic.

Don't get me wrong, Jakks was pretty good, but Mattel has been awesome and spot on with articulation, attires, and face scans. It seems like I'm the only one on the Mattel wagon here, but as a collector I have been nothing but impressed with their product.

Don't get me wrong Theo. I liked Jakks but Mattel has been very impressive with the scans and attires like you pointed out. I'm a collector and every now and then enjoy getting them out and using them and they are just great looking. I noticed their height is about dead on which is another huge improvement.

Ive been wondering about tis topic for a while. For me it boils down to durability. Jakks in general have held up over the years but lacks the scale that Mattel provides. For me I prefer the Mattel brand but the basic line not the elite. The one elite figure I bought fell apart in a matter of days. So when it comes to the two companies I prefer the scale and durability of the Mattel Basic line.

I prefer Mattel for their scale and their detail. Jakks were not that good they broke way too fast out of 10 jakks figures I now only own 1. Jakks also had a scaling problem, Rey mysterio was the same size of the Undertaker, that is wrong.

I collected the Classic Superstars from the very beginning for 7 years straight. They had quite a few great figures done. Now I just started to collect the Mattel Legends line. I have to say I am very impressed with the detail so far. Figures such as Jake Roberts with the trunks designed with flames, Rick Rude with short hair and the Summerslam 90' attire, were always on my wish list. And the Savage WM 7, that one speaks for itself. Also the Warrior WM 7 is also another must and Im happy its finally made. The only thing Mattel was slight off is in the Jake Roberts figure, if you guys watch footage of Roberts in heel version late 1991, he had quite a tan on him. In the Mattel version he's very pale. Other than that its fine.

Yeah the scale/height issue with Jakks was silly. Guys like Diesel, Razor, Shawn, all the same height lol. If you look closely at the Hall & Nash Classic 2 pack, Hall is bigger than Nash lol.

The Mattel line is extremely detailed and accurate. I hope they keep up the good work and dont get lazy like Jakks did.
