Isn't the booking of Sheamus and Drew identical?

I think the main thing lacking on there pushes is that people still dont believe that these guys could be credible top stars yet. I'll compare to other top stars who were pushed quick.

Brock Lesnar was 'the next big thing' His credibilty built over a few short months, first Paul Hayman was his manager, We all know Paul knows talent when he sees it. Lesnar spent a few months knocking round small guys making him look like a monster, even taking on an established tag team single handedly. Then he won King of the Ring, then he demolished Hogan. When he beat The Rock and became champion at summerslam, it felt like he actually ascended the ladder and was a threat to anyone on the roster. After that he took on Taker and beat him in Hell in a Cell, cementing his status. After that, he was turned face and that led him into a Main event at Wrestlemania, where had he actually hit the shooting star press, he would have instantly been HOF material! as it happens, the end of that match was anti climactic, then so was Brock Lesnar!!!!

Kurt Angle also recieved a fast Push... But his credibilty was built around an undefeated streak, allying with Bob Backlund who added moves to his repertoire(chickenwing) Then being the Eurocontinental champ(and never getting beaten for either belt at wrestlemania) afterwards winning King of the ring AND having another great match with Shane in the same night before moving into a fued with HHH which involved HHH's wife as a catalyst and then defeating The Rock for the belt before having a very credible Title reign in which he won the armageddon hell in a cell, amongst some other defences.

Sheamus seems to be lacking this credibility as champ, why not have him destroy an established main eventer on Raw? Much like Brock did with Hogan. If he was to demolish Shawn, then he could fued with HHH over a couple of months.

Drew on the other hand seems to have a little more in his favour, He's got Vince's backing and has stepped over morrison, who many believe is ready for the next level. And all he needs now is to have a credible fued with a big star and come out looking good and he'll have credibility. It's a shame morrison hadn't already taken that step up, otherwise it might seem more credible.

Ultimately if your building these guys as credible main event stars then we all have to belive that the path they took their was worthy of being a champ. I can't believe they got rid of King of the Ring because in terms of giving a guy a push, it added so much star quality to a wrestler. Instead we get money in the bank, which CM punk has won twice and gone on to be champion, without gaining true main event status. Every time Punk drops the title, he drops into the upper mid card at best. Same with Mysterio.

Ultimately the WWE needs to do more with people after they've won titles to maintain their star power, and also make sure people are credible champions when they win the belt. Like they did in the 90's and early 2000's. Maybe it's down to the brand split... but thats another thread entirely

BTW, this is my first ever post, Hope you liked!!!

I personally don't see Sheamus around in the title hunt to much longer.. how ever i like Drew McItyre a lot and working with John Morrison can only help... Great feud in my mind.

I wouldn't go so far as to say their bookings are identical, but I would say that their current personas are. You could even throw Vance Archer into the mix and say you have pretty much the same persona on 3 shows. Not too long ago, swagger and ziggler were pretty much the same character too. Or maybe they still are, since they both are floundering now.

I don't have a problem with the same persona on different shows. Sure, it can get a little stale sometimes if they don't diverge to some extent, but for now I think it works ok.

very true, sheamus debuts on ecw and just tears through the roster, drew, doesn't exactly tear through the roster, but still is unbeaten, both have attacked people for no reason, both are non-american,both win titles at the tlc ppv, both will probably lose there titles shortly, and finally both are in the good books of the power triangle(vince, triple h, hbk),see the difference?i can't.
