Is this the best roster that WWE has ever had?

I cannot believe some commentators are saying the depth of talent in WWE is the best it has ever been. I can only presume they've never seen WWE when it was WWF and between 1988-1992. This is how great it was - there were so many talented wrestlers on the roster that WWF had to put them in tag team matches to get them on tv. The tag team division was ridiculously good - go back and watch any Survivor Series from 1988-1991 to see the depth of the talent and the sheer quality of the matches that happened. The matches were exciting because the wrestlers called their own matches by and large and were trained to do so from their debut - by the time most of them were on TV they had worked all across the territories in the USA, and some even in Canada, Japan and the UK. Daniel Bryan and CM Punk stand out today alongside Kevin Owens as wrestlers who have gotten over in different places before coming to the WWE. Not many have - I think Ziggler is an exception (- but I would like to see him turn in to a monster heel - stop this bouncing about and turn him nasty and brutal) who has a great style but not worked anywhere really apart from WWE.

The roster right now is good, but it doesn't compare to roster's of the past. The present day roster is under utilized, and creative these days suck. That's probably the main reason this roster isn't the best ever. Creative only focuses on a small group of wrestler's at the one time and the rest are left to duke it out on Main Event or Superstars.

Let me put it this way, if today's roster was the best one they ever had, then they wouldn't have to keep bringing back part timers to fill the stadiums at Mania. Vince counts on those guys to fill the seats, and almost all of the big Mania matches this year involved the use of part timers. This roster should be able to fill those big stadiums, but they can't. Not their fault, I put a lot of the blame on the person calling the shots Vince McMahon.

The roster that WWE had right after its acquisition of WCW was the best roster they ever had. So good and robust, in fact, that they split them into two rosters. Even today, I miss the brand extension because it feels like so many talented guys either aren't in the right situation or just don't deserve to be there.

God no. There is some great talent there but there is some pretty so-so at best talent there. Some guys really know how to work well in the ring but a lot don't know how to properly sell anymore so it looks bad. I think they have a decent roster but look at the roster just before Bret Hart went to WCW - a far better roster than what they have today.

Character-wise, most are lost with no direction. Would HBK have made it if he just floated around after leaving The Rockers? Yet that is what we see a lot today - guys just there, not doing anything, no angles, not trying to win a title. How many memorable feuds can you think of from the last few years? Hard to call them a great roster when you can't really think of any great things from them.

I think if the diva and tag divisions were better, this generation could give the others a run for their money. But, no, it's not the best.
