Is it time to bring back a "new" Job Squad?

CM Steel

A REAL American
The Job Squad were a here today gone tomorrow faction during the attitude era in the WWF/E back in the day. The Job Squad consisted of Bob (Hardcore) Holly, 2 Cold Scorpio, Duane Gill (Gillberg!), and the Blue Meanie. The concept of the Job Squad were to get the jobbers at that time SOME TV time. But nothing really came out of the whole Job Squad faction except Duane Gill winning the then WWF Light-Heavyweight Championship off Christian.

But what if the Job Squad were brought back to this era in the WWE where the Job Squad stable is greatly needed. Look at the jobbers on today's WWE roster. Evan Bourne, Primo, DH Smith, JTG. Superstars of that nature. I wouldn't mind seeing those "Pin me, Pay me" shirt's again personally.

So, is it time to bring back a "new" Job Squad?

I wouldn't be opposed to it. I wouldn't call it the Job Squad, like the first time though, because i think it would showcase them more as a joke. With limited TV time, I think it would be a good stable as it would showcase talented individuals that don't get TV time, like Masters, Primo, Ryder, Hawkins, etc

I think the Job Squad was pretty demeaning and obviously it had a negative effect on all involved. I'd rather there be no stables than worthless ones.

Better idea, go back to having brand ppv's.... Think about it, if it is done right it builds stories and allows more t.v. time to people like Ryder and those who were also mentioned so there is no need for a job squad. Or if you don't want to do that just cut back on the number of ppv. Either way more tv time for lesser known people and more time for development of stories.

No, as it would just reinforce in the minds of the fans that these guys are pimarily enhancement talent, and would pretty much kill off their hopes and chances of progressing up the card in the future, especially when some og the guys you mentioned- Evan Bourne for example- are talented.

Plus, why would the fans want to see a stable of jobbers like JTG and Primo, they have very little to offer on TV and I can't see the benefit of rehasing a forgotten stable from over 10 years ago that almost no fans will remember or care about. Look at how the JOB Squad benefitted the careers of its members- Snow became European Champion and Holly had a small push every now and again. It didnt make them into stars, and it would have the same effect today.

Not a good idea in my eyes. It would just emphasise the low-card level of the wrestlers involved.

JOB Squad belonged to an era where wrestling was gleefully giving a wink to the smarks and letting us think we really understood the inner workings of the booking system and the backstage life of wrestlers. Which, I really believe few of us actually do to the extent that we think we do. (Terrible sentence, but I think you know what I mean.) I'm of a suspicious nature and think that an awful lot of "shoot interviews" and Tweets are still worked.
Today, the WWE is more aimed at kids again, and they don't share as much of the inner workings of the business during the mainstream programs. They know the IWC has a different view of things, but they aren't going to indulge that much on mainstream TV. That's why the CM Punk angle seems so fresh and exciting right now. Most of it went over the head of mainstream fans and Little Jimmys; they only get that he might leave with the title, and that is pretty exciting/vexing to them. And the IWC fans who remember back a decade to when this type of thing was more common are all atwitter (pun intended.)

I don't think the WWE is in any hurry to have this sort of on-air kayfabe breaking become widespread again. The JOB Squad is kind of against their main agenda right now, and the Punk thing is a very special exception.

Oh good lord no, Brand PPV's were just plain awful. Benjamin vs Kerwin White on a ppv, nuff said.

The Job squad never really did anything at all and they did literally almost nothing. The Job squad shouldn't come back because they never did what they were supposed to, be funny (I think that was the point of them). In the end, it helped no one and was as boring as Steve Blackman.

It would depend on who is in it. When Santino formed "Apple" (Allied People Powered by Loathing Everything that you stand for) I thought that was going to become a new job squad type team. Even if they did form a new jobber stable such as Apple to try to give jobbers more time onscreen or for someone like Santino to do more promos, it would not lead to anything. I don't care for jobbers much other than Santino as it is and never watch jobber squash matches anyway, which is all the guys in a new Job Squad would ever see. It would be exactly as it is now with a few more jobber squashes and promos by the group's leader thrown in. I don't really support the idea of a new Job Squad because they should focus on getting time onscreen for people that need to put over their own push or matches on PPV that have not been built up enough. There's many more options for things to give time to onscreen rather than a stable of jobbers.

Dude you are WRONG, JOB Squad spliting up made Holly & Snow relevent albiet in the hardcore division but never-the-less it got two of them over, which they needed.

as far as I remember the J.O.B squad also had Al Snow, Ken Shamrock, and Mick Foley (with both foley and shamrock being temporary) as members... That having been said I enjoyed them for what they did, and enjoyed even more the pairing of Al snow and steve blackman (headcheese was awesome.....)

that having been said in this day and age I don't think it would work again (or work at all depending on your initial view of the stable..)

Seriously it's hard to "create" a stable in this day and age... Look at Nexus... They had a great beginning, and held it for a few months before completely being removed from storylines.... I mean CM Punk was/is the leader of the Nexus, and yet it hasn't been mentioned at all during this entire storyline... (also the Corre was/is/never was a stable and the less said about it the better....) It's just hard to have a group that incorporates more than 2 talents without causing one or more people to be lost in the shuffle.... Sure the Nexus originally helped wade barrett (and I guess Daniel Bryan) to get over with the crowd, but aside from them no one has gotten over. (don't tell me that Otunga/ Mcgillicutty(I think its him as his partner) is over as tag champs... they arent..) The last stable that was over was evolution (that I remember at least) and it required 2 first ballot hall of famers (Flair and HHH) as well as a potential HOF'er (Orton) and a guy who had a great look (batista) to get over with the crowd...

Other than that, most of the groups put together have failed shortly after.... It takes almost a lightning in the bottle, or ANOTHER group to succeed as a stable...

For instance, if somehow some way the nexus/corre reform into a supergroup.... Wade barrett Gabriel, Otunga, Mcgillicutty and a returning skip sheffield (perhaps mason ryan as well).... They start taking over... Maybe THEN and ONLY THEN!!! would a JOB squad be adequate (but i doubt it..) Even though a team of Santino, Evan Bourne, Tyler Rex, Yoshi Tatsu, William Regal and/or Zack Ryder would be hillarious on screen...

Well did the job squad get Snow and Holly over? No. They got over by being on their own. The Nexus got Barrett over, Snow and Holly got themselves over. The point of a faction is too put someone (or the whole group) over. The job squad didn't do that.
