Is Anyone Actually Missing Mark Henry?

Low_Ki

Former WZCW Tag Team Champion
I ask just purely because he was being pushed in the midst of his injury and the place just seems better without him. I mean lets look at the facts. When he was there he injured near enough everyone he fought, including Angle and Batista. Now that he's on the bench, the injury list has shortened. Its hust my opinion, anyone else wanna comment?

Here we go with more Mark Henry bashing. I'm tired of reading on different sites where people down Mark Henry. I think since he came to Smackdown his skills has improved. He hasn't put on a bad match (maybe the World Title match at Royal Rumble) but other than that he was more driven to being a main event superstar and I personally can't wait till he return. I am looking forward to seeing him win the World Title soon.

If WWE actually gave him a title, I think he would have made a good, Big Show-like champion. It's a shame he got injured when he did because he was the best heel SD have had for a while. It was good to see him back, but it did get a little stupid when he was beating the world champions in non-title matches all the time without getting a shot. If he was champion, his feuds with Batista would have been good as they are both the 'big' guys of WWE and it would have made Batista look like a real animal when he beat Henry.

I agree. It was a shame to always see him beating Rey Mysterio in all of those non title matches. Before Mark Henry came to SD, did anyone think he could carry a brand as a top heel? I found a lot more respect for him and I'm hoping when he return (maybe at the Royal Rumble), he remains on top and even get pushed to winning the World title. I also believe him and Batista will be a good match and it's a rumor that they'll fight at Wrestlemania 23. I hope so.

I wonder how many matches SD will have at WM23? It would be good to see Henry in there. When did he get injured exactly? I heard he was out for a year or something.

Henry is a terible worker and talker. The only reason he was anywhere near the main event is because Smackdown were desperate to to make main event stars. He's been in WE for over 10 years and he has hardly improved an inch. If you constantly put wrestlers in the main event eventualy they wil start to get over, wich is what has happened with Henry over the last 11 months.

He's too heavy for anyone to lift him. Oh no, I'm sorry, sometimes the big guys manage to barely lift him once in a match. How could someone like that put on a good match!?

I heard it would be about 8 months, which at the time wouldve kept him out over RR and WM23.

Personally i didnt think Henry was all that exciting in the ring. Maybe he couldve been used better by WWE, but the whole idea of demolishing through everybody was pretty boring.

First of all WWE signed him 10 years ago when he didn't have any wrestling experience and knowledge because we all know Vince love big superstars. Within those 10 years he struggled to fit in on the roster but within the last year he has made a huge impact. Smackdown gave him the opportunity and he ran with it. If he couldn't cut it as a main event superstar, they would have pulled him from that spot and to the day he got hurt he was Headlining The Great American Bash. Remember back in 2003 when Scott Steiner faced Triple H at the Royal Rumble and won by DQ? WWE gave him the opportunity to prove he's main event material. Steiner failed thus losing to Triple H the following month and he went down on the rankings and never got another shot at the World Title. That didn't happen to Mark Henry. Mark Henry becoming a top heel was like when Smackdown was trying to estabolish new heel superstar thus JBL filling in that spot and passing a similar test like Steiner did but JBL passed and became WWE Champion a month later. When Mark Henry was hurt, they was saying he'll be out for 6 to 8 months. Hopefully he come back as a top heel and win the World Title.

Steiners one main event push was against Triple H, after which he was demoted to mid card status. Triple H was'nt a very good worker in 2003 he had feud's with Steiner, Booker T, Kevin Nash and Goldberg and non were particularly memorable. He was carrying to much weight and his performances suffered for it. Mark Henrys main event push has seen him have matches with Benoit, Angle, Undertaker and Rey Mysterio. If Steiner was given the same push as Mark Henry was given this past year he would be a superstar. Steiner is a brilliant talker and was once a great worker, Henry is/was neither. And the only reason J.B.L eventually became over and an established main eventer is because he was fed Eddie Guerrero, Undertaker, Booker, Undertaker etc. in various feud's. My point is that Henry has gotten over purley on the strength of his push, and the fact that WWE were forced to put him on Smackdown main events because of their depleated roster.

You do kno that all those so called "injuries" were fake right? Angle has been baddered and bruised for months now, Batista tore his bicep by himself, nothing to do with Mark, Benoit wanted to take time off etc. Its something the WWE calls "angles"... If you didnt know that it was all fake, you must also believe Undertakers really dead.

Henry is a terible worker and talker

Your kidding right? Mark Henry became an excellent big man during his last run in the WWE.. And the promo he shot the night before Mania 22, about Taker and the casket match was by far the best SD! promo till that time.. Now Kennedys surpassed that, but thats another story.. Saying Mark Henry us a bad wrestler is probably the stupidest things people say.. I say this time and time again.. Hes 450 lbs! I dont understand what you expect him to do? But even if that ones slides, a even dumber thing is saying he doesnt have mic skills, which he does..

The only reason he was anywhere near the main event is because Smackdown were desperate to to make main event stars.

You dont know during Henrys push, all the top stars were there.. Henry was the one who made the "injury angle" for them to take there time off.. So they definatly werent despret.. There more despret now pushing Tatanka imo..

He's too heavy for anyone to lift him. Oh no, I'm sorry, sometimes the big guys manage to barely lift him once in a match. How could someone like that put on a good match!?

Thats not even a legit reason to think someones a bad wrestler? With that I could go as far as saying:

How did Andre the Giant become the most dominating and well known big man ever? Hes to big! Noone can pick him up.

How did the Tag Team of Earthquake and Typhoon become so dominent as well? And how are they future Hall of Famers? There to big..

You see what I'm saying... A persons size doesnt make them a bad wrestler.. Actually for a heavy set person to wrestle like Henry does, is actually pretty amazing.. It just seems a lot of bigger wrestlers nowadays dont get any credit, at all.

in a way they need mark henry back to smackdown so they have another main heel. i heard that henry was recovering fast so theres probably a good chance that he'll return as a surprise entrant in the 2007 royal rumble. thats still 2 and a half months away. remember he got injured on SNME all the way back on july 15th

Mark Henry deserves a damned push for lasting as long as he did with all the stupid ass storylines he was in lets check em out shall we?

He impregnated Mae Young, was in love with Chyna which is just nasty, was molested by a drag queen and nearly got some ass althought when he saw the guys balls and said "GOOD LORD!" that was classic.

I mean he was the early days Viscera as Sexual Chocolate for crying out loud.

Then he was gone like nothing and came back with braids beating everyone down like he should have been for years and years and lets face it the late spring and whole summer of 06 belonged to Henry he put everyone on the damn shelf.

So I hope when he does come back he make an even bigger impact!

I agree with PaulWall. All the top SD stars were there when Mark Henry came. Does anyone remember how he rolled out of one of Rey's moves and did his finishing move? No other big man to this date hasn't show that much agility. I don't think he'll head to ECW because that's why The Great Khali was sent over to take The Big Show's spot. I do see Mark Henry joining the Rumble and maybe even winning it. It's good to see people finally recognizing Mark Henry and not saying he's the worst WWE superstar because he's come a long way from way back when he was "dating" Mae Young.

personally I don't miss him, I always thought that his matches were slow and sluggish, and major momentom killers for Smackdown!, I think that he made a decent heel but I just didn't find him entertaing enough to be in the main event, I did think that he was better when he had Daviri manageing him, if he does go to ECW when he comes back then he should join forces with Daviri and Khali, maybe they would work well together

I also think that if he lost a couple of pounds and work on his speed, he would be a much more entertaining superstar then, but thats just my opinion

The Great Khali is a joke and should go back to his day job in India, or at least be sent down for further training.

In all fairness, Batista was scheduled to take a leave of absence anyway, way before Henry debuted on Smackdown!. That is why Batista was put into the tag division with Rey because he'd have less wear and tear that way. Batista simply didn't want to leave while he was on top, so he got worse and worse and worse, and by the time Henry injured him, Batista was ripe for the picking and could've been injured in any match.

Angle had only a minor injury from Henry, and besides, it's a similar case. Angle was beat to hell and he just tried to hide it. When superstars try to hide their health issues, it's kind of their fault, not Mark Henry's for going along with what was scripted of him.

Sure, Henry is rough around the edges as a worker, but WWE's to blame as well, for putting superstars with serious, ailing injuries in matches with him.

Henry can be safer in the ring, but it's not like he ever injured a healthy superstar such as Rey Mysterio.

i agree with you but puttiing him with Henry for awhile might actually be what he needs to get a little better, if they where a tag team then you could have Henry carry Khali for a majoity of the match and stilkl give Khali TV exposure and experiance, but by no means am I a Khali supporter, they could also do some six man tags and include Davari

I actually do miss Mark Henry. When he returns, he'll obviously be one of SD's top heels. His matches were average but a lot of people bought into him as a main eventer (for the SD tapings, at least). He'll probably come back and be forced to complain about the same things he was complaining about before.

P.S.: How many of you were familiar with the fact that he's a graduate of the Dungeon? Strange, huh?

I don't miss Mark Henry at all and I don't understand when people say tha the deserves the title. The guy is big, sloppy, and can't do much in the ring anymore. I like SD better without him.

I miss Mark Henry because if he was here he would be beating up guys like MVP and the Miz

umm... probably not because he would be a heel and heels usally don't cripple their own kind, you should really put a little more thought into your posts, that way you won't come off as stupid

I actually miss him. Because he was a very good heel and was a WWE original. He went from a Mae Young f*cker to a pure badass and now that he's gone...............we have to bow down to King Booker. I hope Henry comes back next year and beats the piss out of him! I say that because when he got injured it said he would be out about 8-9 months and that takes us to about Wrestlemania 23.
