I was youtubing some old 90's stuff and found a couple of promos that were just insane, and things I totally don't even remember, I mean I remember the gist of it, but I didn't realize exactly what was up not being on the internet and being young.
This is just a link to youtube, I don't know if I can somehow get a video on this post but for now a link. When I was younger I didn't exactly know what was going on, I may or may have not watched this. Do you guys remember this and we're you watching when it happened? Did you feel like anything was going on at the time?
So I decided to make threads of insane moments in wrestling history, not always the typical ones like Foley going off and through a HIAC, ECW fans filling a ring with metal chairs, or Hogan turning heel(all though those are all insane themselves), but also the less famous ones like the night after the montreal Screwjob. Thats what the link is to, this is a Greatest HBK heel moments and this one was a good one, and if you know wrestling from the 90's you will understand. A lot of us were probably kids back then and didn't realize how much was going on during this promo much like the rest of the crowd who were only pissed about the PPV and didn't know most of what actually happened like we do today.
This is the night after the Montreal Screwjob, possibly as tense as things could be. HBK seems kind've like he's looking out for a sniper. Or maybe it was just for one of the guys that hated him.
They say Rick Rude left the WWF (in part atleast)because of the Montreal Screwjob, so things are obviously tense there. When HBK first gets out there, Rick Rude says to cut the music and is cut off himself. Then and this whole thing seems to be some punishment for Rude, you can tell there's some real life stuff going on between them, and you can tell more after HBK says he wouldn't have it any other way.
After getting a dig in on Bret and WcW, he says, "....the two guys that aren't dinosaurs are my friends and they're going to beat the hell out of you one day whether you like it or not" Considering how Brets WcW's career went, and what we know about the backstage atmosphere in WCW,(Kevin Nash: Booker?") Ouch.
HBK at 5:50 til 6:15, proving himself on national television. If he hadn't been injured the Attitude Era could possibly have been 2 times as good.
Right afterward, HBK and Rude have another tense moment, Rude referencing what really happened the night before and HBK subsequently getting his mic cut off before things could go any further, although HBK did mockingly say he would never ever beat up a 52 year old man? Who is he talking about? Rude wasn't 52 then but I'd say it was a shot at him nonetheless. Also watching HHH, youngster that he was, watch this whole thing is pretty funny, he kind've reminds me of Alex O'Riley.
To end the promo, Ken Shamrock seemingly is going to challenge HBK, before HBK buries Shamrock 10 feet in the ground. This was an HBK video so I guess it stops there, but I thought the way HBK was talking to The Most Dangerous Man in the world was pretty hilarious.
The second part of the video slows down, and things get back to normal, but HBK does tear Shamrock down some more(sigh I was the biggest Shamrock fan).
Something else I noticed about this what a huge generation gap you see in the ring. The old guys just couldn't hang with guys like HBK anymore, the companys top draw and HHH young stud. And in another way this also seemed to prove that you were going to need to be able to talk going into the future. Shamrock was a pretty opposing figure back then but HBK probably killed his career right then and there(I'm surprised Shamrock didn't "snap" and murder HBK backstage.
So there it is the first Insane Moment, Any thoughts?
