Increasing Staff

Going on 10 years with WrestleZone

It has come to our attention that additional wrestling and NWS mods may be needed to help the increased traffic, and also to drive the specific sections. Shocky and I chatted and came up with 2 wrestling mods and 1 NWS mod. Luther will weigh in soon.

So the questions are simple - 1) Do you like this idea, and 2) who are the nominees?

Coco the Monkey. Not many people leave an impression me, but this guy has. You all seem to quite like him too.

Actually I think part of the issue might be we have too much of a staff. It might not be that the staff is too small, but that the staff we have isn't active enough.

I've received enough pm's and read between the lines from some of our G-mods that more is needed. It's summer time, and I don't expect everyone to be on as much as they would be. We have more G-Mods then regular mods. Nothing wrong with a fe wmore on staff that would be responsible to create discussion and keep certain areas clean. There have been a ton of duplicate and spammy post as of late. i can't do much, because when ever I bring up the infraction page, my computer freezes.

I was kidding about Wes, it was a sad attempt to rile Sam. As usualy he did not give me the satisfaction. Ass.

What do you all think about creating a competition between the 6 G-Mods? Make three of them the "General Managers" of Non-Spam Wrestling, one of them the GM of Spam, and two of them the GM of Non Wrestling. Then, give each team one moderator to work with.

G-Mods will still be asked to "moderate" the boards as a whole, but in terms of activity, will have some specific ownership.

I'm not really in favor of a competition, and I like posting all around the forum, but only in certain parts. For example, I don't watch Smackdown or ECW, so I rarely post there, but I do post in Raw, General and Old School occasionally. I like posting in Technology and Bar Room, and slight dabbling in Cigar Lounge, but generally avoid Music and TV.

Personally, I don't think more is needed. I know I haven't been on much the last couple of weeks due to work, but I don't think things are as bad as others say.

Nobody is saying things are "bad" Sly, (at least not as far as # of staff members) but it begs the question even still.

I also ask this - from a motivation standpoint. Our top posters - the regulars - do they need to wait for a current mod to be removed or to resign to get their shot, or should we reward consistent performance with a promotion when we see it?

I think with a forum of our size that adding fresh blood now and again doesn't hurt. Not saying no one isn't doing their job, but a lot of us have been in our position for a logn time and we get stagnant creatively. Nothing wrong with some new blood coming in and feeling it's his obligation to come in and create activitey in a certain area.

I think that posters should be made Staff when there is a need. I DON'T think we should create needs, if they aren't there. If you guys with the big balls (the admins) think there is a need, then okay. But I don't think giving Staff positions to people, simply for motivation, makes much sense.

I've never been a big fan of the "mods create discussion" argument. In my opinion, mods should be there to keep discussion appropriate. Driving discussion is reasonable (meaning, if there's a thread that can be hot, the mod goes in and fans the flames), but I don't think the mods should be responsible for creating those threads, simply because they're mods. Good if they do, but not necessary if they don't. I know you disagree IC, but that's kind of how I see it.

Just out of curiosity, where are these troubles supposed to be? I know I've seen KB mention that he feels that some are too busy managing spam to make discussion, but is there anything else?

I can certainly understand that, but as I wrote earlier in this post, I don't really feel that's something a mod should be responsible for.

If the regular poster is already creating discussion, is it necessary to make him a mod to do the same thing?

I know especially when i was a g-mod, that most of my time on line was finding and cleaning upt he spam. I made sure to go threw all of the bolded threads when I signed on, and tried to clean them up. If anyone else it like that, it does get tiring, and I've stopped doing it lately. My time on here is limited enough as is, and to spend most of the time handing out infractions and warnings sucks. Nothing wrong with it as it is a part of the position, but a few extra hands sharing the load never hurts either.

See, I don't do it like that.

I'll go to "New Posts", and check all the New Posts from the last time a warning or infraction was given out. And then, I'll just check any new threads that get posted in while I'm on the forum.

Makes things go much quicker. I guess I just don't go LOOKING for spam, I just take care of it when I come across it.

yea im down with adding new blood. People should have to do a one for one swap, I dont see the reason for that. Obviously, concerns about the state of the place have been voiced *cough* Id like to add smoe new guys.

I'd have no problem with replacing some people, but granted that's not my call so unless asked, I won't say anyone by name.

I have no problem with replacing people either. matter of fact, id love it.

Im just sayin, thats not what should HAVE to happen.
