In need of new Tag Teams

Ol'Canucklehead

Pre-Show Stalwart
I had the idea of this thread when asked about older teams. The one thing i think is missing is a big team. i.e. The Natural Disasters, LOD. Demolition, Headshrinkers, Powers of Pain. Now that Edge is injured and they are in need of a distraction I propose this ensemble : Mike Knox and Festus repackaged in a Demolition kind of way. You could call them Ravage and Slaughter, or Knox and Knuckles. A team name I am having a hard time with...Tear Down, Cuutthroat Crew, Lethal Injection...I dunno, need help with that one. Also as a far stretch, possibly bring back Tajiri in a Mr. Fuji like role he could possibly make a good manager. Like the old days have them come out and destroy some jobbers and quickly to mid carders. You could have a big tournement start just before they enter. Have them look oblivious to the fact that there is a tournement, and looking like they only like to inflict pain. Now have anybody win the belts and with a new manager (see above or others), come out and attack the new champs. This would set up a huge feud. You can only care about tag teams if indeed you think they are a team. In the past you cared because you felt like the teams were brothers, not just that guy and that guy. Well...thouhts?

I don't think we need new tag-teams. No one really cares about them, to be honest. With one set of belts, The Hart Dynasty, Legacy, Rated Y2J, and the Colons can cut it just fine. It also looks like Brian Kendrick will be packaged with someone, as well as the random Goldust pairing and such. There isn't much of a focus on tag-teams as it is, so I don't see how creating more tag-teams would help the division. You can't have ten teams to compete over one belt in a division where there is hardly any focus at all. It's unnecessary.

Not sure if you've been living under a rock or don't read spoilers but Edge is out for a while and *spoiler**spoiller**spoiler* The colons broke up. I for one love tag team wrestling. It just needs to be isolated and not given the feeling that one guy on the team will be a singles star one day. Make us think that these guys like being a team and they can't be seperated.

I think WWE definitely needs to do something with the tag division. They need to repackage some of their jobbers into something of a decent tag team or something along these lines.

I just thought of a great idea. Bring some more teams from FCW that are ready for the big time. Have them destroy some jobbers for 2 or 3 weeks. Then, have them start a feud with a more legitimate tag team. Boosting their credibility a little more.

Its too bad that Tag Teams have been put on the backburner. Making one set of tag belts might have been a good idea, but there is a severe lack of tag teams to sustain 2 belts. The way that tag teams have been used has been terrible in the last 2 or 3 years. Usually they are jobbed off too much to get credibility.

The biggest thing I hate about tag teams lately is that they are 2 superstars just smashed together in a tag team with no reason to be in a tag team. Usually those two superstars will make the established tag teams look like idiots. Then it only takes one of the superstars to do a solo move and win the match in a pinch. When I was younger, you had a tag team that dressed similar, had signature double team moves, and an authentic finisher. Even coherent theme music. There is virtually no sign of that now.

Yes, WWE should ransack its jobbers and repackage some of them together--with rhyme, reason and a true finisher. Just not Goldust, cause he is destined to win nothing. Or Hornswaggle.

I think what should happen is ECW should take this talent initiative and make Tag Teams out of all of them first. This is a good way to save time in scouting one star at a time in singles matches and who knows what could happen. There have been many great Stars to come out of Tag Teams and there are some to come out of random pairings.

I instantly like you, just for vicariously mentioning John Tenta!

LOD. Demolition, Headshrinkers, Powers of Pain.

And now back to reality. Um... I can see where you are going, but admittedly, as I've said many a time before (and might make a thread about.... Hmmm....) I don't like gimmicks in which someone is trying to be "like" someone. I understand that Creative can only come up with so many gimmicks, but any type you they're "like" someone, all you are doing is setting an expectation that could never be reached. There will never be another Road Warriors, nor a Head Shrinkers, nor any of the teams you mentioned. It's a different time, and a different era. While tag teams used to be huge, Vince has done a fairly good job eliminating the importance of tag teams. So calling upon wrestlers to be the "next" such and such is asking for trouble.

And again, like the teams you mentioned... Well, you seem to be a fan that followed The WWE long ago. Well, tell me.... Do you remember these guys at all?

Fans really don't like it when you try to copy someone, and are doing it as blatantly as you are insinuating you would do. Vince tried to create new guys from old gimmicks he used to have, and it simply didn't work out. And there fans that, to this day, are extremely passionate about The Road Warriors. If Vince were to try this, he'd simply be asking for trouble, no doubt in my mind. I do like the idea of a tournament, but for me, I don't like these "new" teams you're suggesting

Hey thats Big Daddy Dentist Kane in the picture!!! I know what your saying and agree, but when i say "like" I mean as a starting point. They need some big guys to be dominant.

The WWE does not need to put random large guys together. They need to sign tag teams. Guys that have worked together outside of WWE. They did that and we got the Rockers. Tag teams need some uniting feature. Random large guys under an old gimic seems to be pointless. I would rather see Hawkins and Ryder reunited than see Festus and Knox. Knox is a baddy that randomly attacks people. Festus does not explode until the bell rings. That does not go together. If they can be repackage okay. If not keep them apart.

Once they are ready I wouldn't mind seeing some talent from FCW called up, and paired as a tag team. That would be Brett Dibiase, and Bo Rotundo. IRS's son, and Ted's son. The reincarnation of Money Inc. again. Then again their own tag name would be nice. How about "The Dream Team".

I also think that once Wes Brisco is ready he should be paired up with fellow FCW wrestler Joe Hennig, and they should call themselves "The Perfect Team". I like both of their styles, and I think they would make a solid tag team.
