Impact Support Club House

The talent isn't going to matter if it's

Destination X
"WE'RE MAKING THIS DIVISION MATTER AGAIN!"
Two months of title defenses
"Tonight it's a six way elimination match for the X-Division Title! NEW CHAMPION!"
Four months of the title being defended maybe once a month
"Join us for One Night Only: X-Travaganza where we celebrate the division that put us on the map!"
Another month of nothing
"Who will use Option C for a shot at the World Title?"

What are we on now? The third year with this pattern?

Roderick Strong and Chris Hero backstage at the last tapings... just visiting, or gonna end up on the roster?

It was just mentioned in the Observer this week, not much but this is it.

Photos were going around online of Chris Hero and Roderick Strong being backstage at TNA's 11/5 TV taping at Universal Studios. They were just visiting as both live in the area and they have friends there. Chris Hero has a full-time schedule in Japan with Pro Wrestling NOAH, who now being owned by New Japan gives an extra incentive to stay.

Roderick has also been the star of War of the Worlds the last two nights. This has been easily his best year yet. Would have been a great signing right now.

Apparently The Young Bucks have also turned TNA down in favor of staying with NJPW and ROH, while working with Jarrett on GFW through NJPW.

The morality in TNA is said to be "So-so". Just.... Wow. Seriously, we can tell they're making this shit up.

We're talking about a company which glamorized assaulting women, ran a storyline about how one wrestler was trying to steal another wrestler's kids while using their actual kids in the role, and consciously allowed a performer under the influence of multiple narcotics to perform as a headline to a PPV.

Calling TNA's morality "so-so" would be a huge compliment, but I think the word you wanted there was "morale".

I really dig the fact that they actually paid licensing fees to use the Hole song "Doll Parts" for the Dollhouse's new music. I'm not a big Hole fan but the idea of using popular songs again like ECW and ROH used to is one I love and wish I could see again. Only get that on the indies really.

It makes entrances in AAA very entertaining. Pimpinela Escarlata, Psycho Circus< The Hell Brothers and La Parka have awesome entrances just because of their theme songs. Though, I don't think TNA is paying this and it's more likely Billy Corgan's doing.

As a Smashing Pumpkins fan, the only thing I can never forgive Billy Corgan for doing is Courtney Love.

Corgan's followed the Jim Johnston approach to songwriting; there's usually three songs on any given album which would be perfect fits for a professional wrestling theme. To that extent, I'm pretty sure TNA's used "Doomsday Clock" for a recap segment before. This sort of thing should be becoming more common, and good- professional wrestling themes are little more than a jingle to sell the performer, and TNA's never really seemed to put much effort into that arena.

You don't say?

Ouch. I made it 34 seconds into that before I couldn't take anymore. It sounds like the band I was in during high school. Now, compare (could only find a live version for the first, so no one freak out over mix quality and try to focus on song structure):

You've got your intro stinger. You've got a first verse and chorus that lasts about as long as a Sunday night walk down the ramp, followed by an instrumental "pose down" section. Compare that to that RVD thing- calling it a theme is too nice. You have an endlessly repeated guitar riff with a guy screaming RVD's name. The only reason I didn't confuse it with my high school band is that I didn't have that much bass in my voice when I was fifteen.

Assuming this is the case (and there's a line at the bottom that says this isn't for sure yet), there's a very, very long post to be made about why this happened.

Not really. It'll come down to what it always comes down to. Ratings are poor (even if they're the highest rated show on the network), Spike viewership didn't follow over and advertisers want nothing to do with it.

Translation: no money.

Hopefully GFW gets off the ground soon.

Yes but why are they poor? Why didn't the fans follow them over? Hint: it doesn't have much to do with what's happened on Destination America.

That last part is what I'm getting at.

This decision isn't because of what's happened in the last year or even two. It's from years of TNA being one of the worst run wrestling companies of all time. The wrestlers worked hard and the matches were usually good, but the booking and decision making was so horrible that they were doomed to eventually fail.

Doesn't help that they're fighting the fact there's a large (at least vocally) contingent of fans who are actively rooting for them to go under.

Some indeed were and a lot of it was because of how embarrassing TNA was at times. I know it gets blown out of proportion, but there's some stuff they did that was inexcusable for how stupid/bad it was.

Sure is/was. Still doesn't justify actively rooting for the demise of the only nationally televised competition for years.

You're basically hoping dozens of people lose their jobs. For what, rep from other assholes who find that funny?

I hate WWE as a company. I everything Vince McMahon stands for. But I'd never, in a thousand years, hope they go under.

But oh well, if this is the end, this is the end. I just hope GFW gets off the ground so I've got something to fall into again, like I had with TNA when WCW went under.

I hope they don't go under either, but if they do, I won't feel a bit of sadness for Dixie or her cronies. I'll feel bad for the workers who probably won't get picked up by WWE, but not for the bosses and their stupid decisions.

The same day Joe debuts in WWE. What a coincidence.

That wasn't sarcasm, it was definitely a coincidence.

It'll make for great dramatic effect for fans who've been hoping for this when WWE buys their library for twelve bucks publishes the Rise and Fall of TNA.

I can see it now — a final moments interview from someone who was never even with TNA talking about how he or she knew "this was the moment" that it was all over. Some shill, probably. Michael Cole.
