Impact July 14th Special: Mid-Summer Nightmare

The problem is that it basically makes no sense. It's one thing to join a group as a "last resort" to help win a belt. What I mean is that you use the group to get the belt in the first place. It doesn't make sense to need a group if you obtained the top prize on your own. It doesn't matter how "powerful" said group thinks they are, you already have the belt. Thus, if Anderson was going to join, he should have lost to Sting the first time only to be granted another shot, his LAST shot where if he didn't win, he'd be banned from the title scene, and then he took the offer. That way would actually make him more of a heel because the fans he still has would hate that he took the "easy way out" to get the belt. It's cheap and cowardly and it works. This way, it loses its sense as though it's possible for Immortal to screw Anderson over, they certainly aren't going to do so next week for fucking Sting. The guy is a madman and actually feuding with the group. Immortal would rather Anderson have the belt than Sting anyway. That's why it makes no sense now.

The fans he still has? Anderson turned full fledged heel the minute he started walking around as old school Sting. Anderson has no fans now. He's a bad guy.

Sure, your way works as well, but TNA's does too. You're forgetting that Immortal wanted Anderson for a LONG time. Now he's an even bigger commodity because he's the World Champion. A World Champion BECAUSE of Immortal, mind you.

Now they're using that to manipulate him and present more valid reasons why he should join. He didn't do so before because he thought his shit didn't stink and thought he could do it all on his own. Now he faced Sting one on one and would've lost if Bischoff didn't interfere. He knows that, and knows that Sting can beat him. He didn't think so before their match. I believe Sting also pinned him at Lockdown, but it could've been RVD I don't remember.

The whole deal is now better for Anderson. He has seen what Immortal can do. He saw what Sting can do and that's beat him. So, get beat by Sting and lose, or swallow your ego, join Immortal and keep the title? Easy choice.

Now I know, you said that Immortal wouldn't screw him against Sting if he didn't join, which is true. But what's stopping Immortal from screwing them both? Say Immortal jumps in during the match, takes them both out, match is thrown out, Sting's title shot is gone. Then they have a plethora of guys to pitch against Anderson and screw HIM off the belt just like they did with Sting. In the same night even. Perfect opportunity to put the belt on Bully Ray or God forbid Gunner (I like him, but that's too soon). If you want shock value that is. And if you throw it out - big deal. It's not a PPV AND you show to the viewer what happens when Immortal is pissed off. They don't fuck around.

We can play around with this all day, but what they did was good and it made sense. Not too sure if it'll play out well (I doubt it will, Anderson's becoming the official Half-Assing Champion of the world), but that's another story.

Well, at least we agree that Anderson shit does in fact stink and he has not been all that great, but I still don't necessarily agree that this made sense. If you say he's a full heel already, it's not even a Russo-special turn tonight. A heel joined a heel group. Don't these things work better when people TURN heel? Just sayin'.

Now I get the reasoning and I get why they did it, but I feel like the booking is lacking to have to do that. We're going to have to agree to disagree on this one. Quite honestly, I would have rather have seen Immortal just die out because it hasn't beeen good basically ever. I'm still hoping it gets destroyed at Bound For Glory the way nWo should have been at Starrcade 97, but I'm not holding my breathe. It is what it is I guess. We'll talk again in a month when we see if this is even remotely worthwhile as a merger.

If you get the reasoning and why they did it, then why'd you say it doesn't make any sense? Or is this "Let's shit on something Zeven said without making a shred of sense" day? We should make this a thing. Maybe I should drag your ass to Bulgaria and show you around, get you laid and drunk. Can't say you'll have a great time. The women are probably tougher than you, you can't possibly handle our alchohol and bring a bullet proof vest with you. For um .. no reason. Heh. For the lulz.

Anyjews, it's booking and Russo has never been much of a prophet. This shit changes in their heads every day. I doubt they were planning on pairing Anderson with Immortal. They roll with the punches and that's what they got out of it. In this case it comes down to personal preference. I'm just glad Anderson finally picked a side and something to associate himself with other than calling himself an anus.

Immortal has been "eh". I like them now more than I did before, though, because they got some talkers like Ray and Steiner. But it's all too little too late. Hope they'll disband at Bound for Glory and we can all move on. This whole thing could've been better but, eh, whaddayagonado.

No, I mean I see the explanation but I still think it's weak as shit. You can explain cheating on your wife and you can sort of say "ok, I see where you are coming from", but that will NEVER make it right. I don't like Immortal, never have and never will, and Anderson joining at this time sucks in my opinion. That said, we're not going to harp about it.

On another note, your women are tough? Tougher than New Yorkers? I might have to see this to believe it. I mean I love Israeli women and they are tough too so maybe it's the right type for me! I'll have to try it out. Not only that, I'm Jewish and you through in "anyjews". I found that amusing. This has been fun. We don't agree in the slightest, but it's always fun.

Anderson tbh had to join Imortal, with the new Crazy Sting, and Kurt lurking around, it dosnt make much sence to have the champ lurking between Heel Group/Solo Heel, as a solo heel Anderson pulled it of when he was fighting Imortal and Sting for the belt, but now he has the belt, he cant continue to fight with Hulk/Sting/Kurt, its to much, now we have it one nice group, i think its one of the smarter things they done

So because you PREFER a heel turn, that makes the angle unreasonable? Your preferences and opinions don't define logic. It's a perfectly understandable and NORMAL thing for heels to join forces. If you can't find a wrestling example that floats your boat, then imagine Anderson as Japan and Immortal as Germany and Italy.

Besides, we got the whole "heel turn" thing with Jeff Hardy last year. If they'd gone your route with Anderson being a face and then screwing everyone over by joining Immortal, you'd have tons of people on here bitching about how they just copied the Hardy angle. I'm not saying I disagree with you that a heel turn would be more impactful in addition to joining the "evil empire" stable, but in this case it wasn't needed.

Even if the way they got here was a little bumpy, you now have a much stronger foundation for storylines going forward. Anderson as a seperate entity was not going to work long-term. You can't have the "power hungry" heel group and not have the World Title be involved. And remember, a huge reason TNA got into this mess was thanks to Jeff Hardy's bullshit. We don't know what the long-term plans were for Hardy, Sting, Anderson, the World Title, and Immortal prior to Victory Road.
