If you could turn back time

If you could go back in time and change one thing that has ever happened in wrestling, what would you have changed? Rather it be a tragedy or just a decision that you thought the creative guys dropped the ball on and you always thought something could have worked better. List a couple moments, how you would have changed em, and what effect it would have had on the business.

I would have hoped Vince would have stuck to his plan to continue WCW for 2 years like originally planned. That would mean invasion in summer of 2003, meaning more guys. Mysterio, goldberg, Steiner, The Cat, Hogan, Nash, were all in WWE by then, and maybe more, including Sting, and maybe guys who wouldn't have gone to TNA instead. Maybe there would be no TNA if WCW continued. Thats a good, What If?

1. Prevent the Macho Man Randy Savage from ever having his bloodfeud with Vince McMahon. If somehow, we could prevent their rift, Savage would be in the WWE Hall of Fame, right now.

2. Stop Owen Hart from piledriving Stone Cold Steve Austin. Without having the neck injury as a result of that piledriver, Austin would still be wrestling, and wrecking havoc. He has had other injuries as well, but, that piledriver is the reason Austin's career was shorter than it should have been.

3. Speaking of Owen Hart, prevent him from falling. Owen Hart was on his way, and would have been a huge star, had he lived.

4. Prevent Vince McMahon from EVER giving the Ultimate Idiot the WWF Title. The benefits of this should be self-explanatory. Even if you had to get the belt off of Hulk Hogan, there were SOOOO many people that it could have been given to legitimately, other than the Warrior. Ted DiBiase could have been a fantastic heel champion, and giving it to Savage would have worked too. Perhaps you finally give Piper some gold, or pass the torch to Curt Hennig or Rick Rude. All would have been better champions than Jim Hellwig.

I wish Bischoff hadnt of forced Eddie to come back too soon after he got in that horrible car wreck, because then Eddie probably wouldnt have become addicted to painkillers in the 1st place and then probably never would have died and because of that Benoit probably wouldnt have went nuts and killed his family then himself, its so crazy how much simple decisions affect huge things years later, but I dont know, maybe if hed have waited and let Guerrero come back when he wanted to, theyd of never had a falling out and Guerrero and The Radicalz would have never left WCW and maybe would have been bigger players in WCW and then maybe it wouldnt have went out of business, man its crazy every way you look at this the decision would have changed the course of the industry entirely:flair:

I would go back and stop Vince from buying WCW. Maybe if Vince never took over WCW, they may have had a chance to get back into producing a good prouduct(maybe). I feel like if WCW never folded, and was able to straighten up their show and made it watchable again then WWE would have to work harder to attain viewer's. Everyone loves the Attitude era, and that era happened because WWE were in jeopardy of becoming the #2 show. The writers and Vince knew they had to be at the top of their game in order to beat the WCW and they were. If the WCW were still around and were a legit threat to WWE(unlike TNA) then maybe the creative team would again be under pressure and would start taking chances and really making the product the best they can instead of slacking because their is no other competition(NO TNA is not competition...yet anyways). Again this would only work if the WCW was able to pick their product up and make it good again.

I'd keep Bill Goldberg from kicking Bret Hart in the head. Then, Hart wouldn't have gotten the concussion that killed his career, and may even have avoided the stroke that took him out of the business pretty much entirely. It would be really nice to have seen a true "retirement" match for him, rather than just kick and out.

I would have to say TNN never telling ECW how to do their show this was a terrible blow to the old school ECW, I would also have the Von Erics fulfill their destiny and never seem like failures in the eyes of history. Chris Beniot would still be with us and wrestling on TV , for a change in WCW one name, David Arquette nuff said there. I can go on and on about what I would change for what happened but hindsight is 20/20 who knew at the time that some things would drastically change what is now the WWE and TNA wrestling.

I gotta agree with the breaking owens knee thing, as badd as it sounds he wouldve only been out a couple months and he probably be still wrestling today. and maybe we wouldve seen owen as WWF champ.

personally i wish Shawn Michaels wouldve never hurt his back at the RR in 98, we missed out on some good years from good ol HBK..

I wish owen would have not pildriven austin,, man the battles those two wouldve had for the wwf title would be epic.

I wish the world wildlife foundation or whatever its called, wouldve just left the world wrestling federation alone.. saying wwe just doesnt feel right..

sorry for so many and that last one has just been bugging me for years!!

The Montreal Screwjob....Totally unneccessary action against a man who deserved better

Goldberg kickin Bret's head off. Such a crappy end to the legends career.

Undertaker going American Badass. Terrible decision. Should have stayed darker.

Rock being a success in Hollywood. Would still love the Rock to be about today.

I would stop Kane from killing Katie Vick
I would stop Mizzark Henry from banging Mae Young, which would in turn stop the birth of the hand.
I would stop Ric Flair from taking those Viagra pills
I would stop the Great Khali from winning the world title, and tarnishing it's legacy.
I would tell Vince Russo to stop being a booker which would have.....
Stopped Judy Bagwell from that pole match
I would tell Vince to slow down on the push of C.M. Punk....oh wait THERE IS NO F'ING PUSH.....shame shame Vinnie Mac....

One major thing I'd love to be able to change is the Benoit tragedy.. Not going to get into it, but things would be a lot better if it never had happened.

Another would be Owen's death. He left 2 small children and a wife behind, and he had a bright future ahead of him. I can only imagine what his wretling carrear & life would be like if he didn't die.

The Montreal Screwjob. Like somebody said before me, I believe it was totally unnessecary & disrespectful. There were different ways to do it that could have let Bret leave with dignity.

Goldberg's kick to Bret. To me this just put a sour taste on the ending of his carrear. In my opinion he deserved to have a sendoff like Ric Flair, but he never had the opportunity because of both the screwjob & the kick.

Lastly I'd of liked Kurt Angle to stay with the WWE. This is more of a selfish choice because he was one of my favorites while he was with WWE, and I can't really get into TNA, so I don't get to see him anymore.

Owen Hart would've never fallen and died as part of a useless angle that nobody cared about.

Brian Pillman would've never gotten into his car wreck at the height of what was gonna be his breakout moment. The loose cannon gimmick (if it was one) was awesome.

WCW would have folded a few days earlier so ECW would have been the place to go when Vince turned you down. Not sure if what Heyman claimed about this was true , but if there was even a chance...

Curt Henning, Ted Dibiase and Scott Hall wouldn't be the three best guys to never win a major world championship. (Glad RVD is no longer on this list!!)

HBK's Royal Rumble injury would've never happened. He could've only made the attitude era better.

Ric Flair would've never been Hogan's whipping boy, it was a joke (Bischoff deserves death).

Goldberg would've made it in football so he could've sat on a bench instead of in a wrestling locker room (private locker room of course).

Jericho and HHH would've hit it off and been good buddies so Y2J could get the push he deserves.

My moment would be one of two.

The Owen Hart incident. This happened just as I was getting into wrestling, and I vividly remember being told the morning after the PPV and was gutted. I got quite emotional on the Raw after it in his memory

The Benoit incident. I was absolutely destroyed when I heard that Benoit had killed himself, and to hear he'd taken his wife and child with him was just horrible. I honestly wish he had just gone to the PPV and won the title instead of ruining the memories of a great career and the respect he'd earned from millions all being gone in seconds

ECW getting on another network that would actually promote the show so ECW could lived for a little longer.

Eddie gurrero's death, Eddie was one of my favorites and his death caused a shock for me.

Owen Heart's tradgedy, the thing about this one for me i was actually going to go with my parents when i was younger to the show.

Owen piledriving Austin, my favorite wrestler's career was shortend that day

Chris Benoit incident, another one of my favorite wrestlers life taken by himself with his family with was a tragedy.

Mr. Kenndy's mistakes and injuries, everytime he was ready for his push for the main event he would screw himself or gain a injury

Brock Lesnar leaving, some people didn't like him but i thought he was awesome how big he was and being able to wrestle.

Someone already said it, but the wwe annoys me i liked it better when it was wwf

Preventing WCW from going out of business or McMahon using it in a better way. We all wanted to see the WCW vs. WWF for the longest time and this was the conclusion. I thought they were going to do something with the Shane McMahon owning WCW angle too. This could have really kept wrestling in the spotlight for another good three years if they did it right.

Although I liked Shawn Michaels being the last person Flair wrestled I would have really liked to see WWE and Sting swallow their pride for one night and brought in Sting for one last match against Flair on the biggest stage of all. Of course this would have been unrealistic unless Sting decided to sign a contract with WWE, because having him wrestle at wrestlemania and then showing up on TNA a week later would have been a bad business move, clearly.

But either way that would have been probably the most amazing wrestlemania momment of all time. Sting shows up not only on WWE but on WWE and at Wrestlemania for the very first time.

It is sad to me that one of the biggest stars in wrestling history, up there with hogan, flair, taker, hhh, etc., hasn't even been on WWE. Think of a star as big as Sting that hasn't been in WWE too? I can't think of any...

I agree with the previous posts, the WWF/WCW takeover/invasion angle was for me the biggest dropped ball. This could have and should have been one the greatest angles in wrestling history. The ultimate end to the WWF/WCW Monday night wars would have been a full-on cross TV show feud between the two promotions, ending up with one massive war games type PPV. If they could have kept the two shows going in parallel TV slots for even a month whilst being able to cross the two over to build to a joint PPV, it would have been many a wrestling fans dream come true. I guess that wouldn't have been possible with one network not wanting to promote the eventual single show on another network, but if tv network contracts were different (eg Time/AOL not owning show and network) maybe it could have been pulled off. But even with the sudden end to Nitro and the immediate on-screen merge it could have come off way way better. WCW played to the behind the scene interest marks more than WWE did, but even the most casual viewer would have been aware of the TV war. And for the "internet mark" it could have been the ultimate melding of on-screen show and backstage gossip.

I would have The Rock defeat Stone Cold at WrestleMania 15, everyone knew that Austin would win, it would of been a huge shock if The Rock had retained, and then perhaps dropped the title the next night on Raw.

I say this because I have been watching old tapes from 1999, and even though when The Rock left the corporation and became mega popular (some would say even more so than Austin), he was still booked as being in Austin's shadow. A win on the grandest stage of them all over Austin would have given The Rock just that little extra IMO.

Royal Rumble 1998 - Shawn Michaels Vs. The Undertaker

By far, one of the worst yet greatest matches I've seen. As most people know, this is the match which would eventually lead to Shawn retiring for 4 years. 4 long, painful years. Those 4 years also happen to be widely renowned as 4 of the best in a long time. Can you imagine how much greater this would have been with the showstopper involved?

For me one thing I would definetly go back and change is how Vince dropped the ball big time with the NWO. He had a chance to take the greatest angle in wrestling history(yes its better than Austin vs. Vince) and make it great again. Instead he has Hogan, Hall, and Nash look like jokes of there former selves n do little comedy skits in the back. Then turns Hogan face again and lets the rest of the group get drafted. Terrible terrible booking if you ask me.

Them 4 years might not have been as good with HBK in them. He would not have jobbed to anyone and would have held everyone down :D :D

Oh no you didn't. LMAO. His last match was cleanly losing the belt to Austin, then having an Austin shirt draped over him.

Blind Hart mark? Reet, lets set something straight now. Shawn is an amazing performer. By far one of the best wrestlers to ever step foot in the ring. His work is amazing, and he is currently involved in one of the best feuds of the last few years. He has had countless great matches, and his WM matches go beyond even that. It's stupid to think the WWE wouldn't have benefited from him. Especially when many mark the beginning of the attitude era as a certain event in Montreal..involving Shawn ;)

Its not as if I'm agreeing with the poster, but this post did nothing to really answer his claims at the end of his posts...

Personally I'd be torn on the subject. Its hard to say "What if" because he could have caused WWE to crumble, but he could have caused WWE to do even better. We really don't know.

I would have stopped Kurt Angle leaving the WWE and joining TNA as I feel that he was the best wrestler in the world at that time and I think he could have won the ECW Championship and given the title and the brand itself credibility as ECW was getting slated as people thought the new ECW was disgracing the legacy of ECW

I would change the "fast" count that nick patrick made in the hogan/sting match at starrcade 97 toactually look fast like it was supposed to be. Insted we got a normal speed count that made sting look weak, and bret hart look blind. Or heck have Sting go over in a normal way without a reversed dicision. I think it just made Sting look weak and it probably would have been better for business if done correctly. But i guess alot of things in wcw wouldve been better for business if done correctly

I know it was good for story line purposes but i would like to go back and change the night when Y2J beat HHH for the belt just to have it stricken from the records. If they let Jericho keep the belt who knows where it would of gone.
