If you could live in a Movie, Book or Game

Exactly what the title says. Ever had those moments when you watched a Movie/ TV show and wished you had friends like the ones in it or lived a life like that? Read a book or played a game and wished you could just dive in and live it? When this thought dawned on to me, it brought a smile to my face. Being very close to childhood years myself, I can remember wishing these kind of things very well. I still do.

To answer this myself, it's a tough one. I'd love to dive into the biography named 'Young Stalin' and be one of Stalin's wives or mistresses and end up dying anyway. I'd also like to dive into Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone and live an epic life of magic and maybe just be myself and hook up with either of the Weasley twins. ;) I don't know... Maybe there'd be a way that I can safely bring 'Muggles' from the dead and somehow bring that Megalomaniac, drunk Communist into my life. Anyway, I guess I'll go with the latter. :p If I were to get along with anyone, it's most likely Ron because he's just funny and a nice guy. Hermione would be a bit too smart for me and I never really liked Harry. Maybe because he's the "Brave Guy." Oh yes! and I'd love to be part of Ravenclaw!

So, how about you? Let your imagination go wild!

If you could live in a Movie, TV Show, Book or Game - what would it be?

Would you prefer being yourself or to be in the shoes of a character you like?

Which character do you think you'd have gotten along with well?

Honestly I would like to live in Pokemon. It was my whole childhood growing up and now it a part of me is missing with it not being in my life. Imagine growing up and becoming a Pokemon Master. Travelling town to town and catching Pokemon. I am pretty attatched to the dogs I get so I guess thats why Pokemon as pets would be cool. I would definately not be Ash (the main character) because from what I remember he catches no Pokemon apart from the odd few. If I was myself I would catch everything and everything. I would probably get along with Ash's rival Gary the most as well.

I was originally going to say War of the worlds, any Godzilla film, or this Japanese show where this guy goes to an all girl school and gets "sexually advanced on in an aggressive and dominant way by the the girls in the school" but I can't remember the name of that. Since I would die watching the aliens or Godzilla advancing through the world, I had to settle for Anthony Bourndain: No reservations

I couldn't find the intro so here is an example of 1/3 of an episode.

As you can see here it's a travel show where they travel around the world to discover and unveil the place to the audience.

I would be myself as one of his cameramen that he talks about seldom talks about. To me this would be an opportunity to see the world in ways that combine seeing culture, tasting food there, and meeting the inhabitants there. The personality of Bourdain himself I find to be fascinating in a good way, he has that somewhat sarcastic and observational tone to his character and he brings it on every episode no matter where he goes. If you would see an episode list of all the places he has gone and experienced the list includes so many of the world's developed and even developing countries. I get paid to go see new things behind the camera and bask in the infinite cash I get for having the job. I know this choice is more of a "work in TV show" than "live in TV show" but when you look at it, he travels a lot and stays away in his destinations for at least a week, to me that's living life away form home plenty. I am pretty sure I would get along with Bourdain himself pretty well.

However there was an instance where he traveled to Lebanon (Beirut, the capital) and witnessed the 2006 Lebanese war up front due to an unexpected capture of Israeli air force. To me in that spot (as apart of the camera crew) would have been mesmerizing to see a conflict of nations up front like that. Mix that in with all of the show's other adventures and you've got a perfectly good reason to live it.

Yes it's live action and not fictional but I am someone interested in seeing the world and living on a travel show.

The best universe to live in is definitely, the Star Wars universe. I'd definitely be a Jedi, you know, with a purple lightsaber. I'd be like Mace Windu but, less black. I'd hand with all the other Jedi's and I and Ewan McGregor would bullshit about Scotland, motorbikes and how awful Hayden Christensen was in Jumper. On a Saturday, I'd hang out at the jazz bar in Mos Eisley and occasionally hang out with all the Wookie's in Endor. Man, I'm sure Yoda knows how to have a good time, knock a few back and solicit illegal prostitues. Plus, you'd never be bored as you could always hop on a R2D2 powered spaceship to Tatooine and bet on the pod racers. Oh, and you could mind control simpletons into trapping Admiral Aackbaar. Plus, Natalie Portman's a babe.

So, yeah, the Star Wars universe would be where I'd live.

Scott Pilgrim

If it was possible that I could live in a world where video games and karate and other ridiculous things in that movie/book i'd totally live there. Every day is a level or boss battle lol. Wouldn't want that place to be in Canada though, probably Tampa Bay.

I'd want myself to be in a new seperate story from Scott However.

The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.

The way all the characters share the same ironic detachment for what they're doing, like it's pretty much just a job. I've always wanted to set sail and get away from the land and its oppressive responsibilities. The whole Cousteau lifestyle seems appealing to me, I'm fairly reclusive. Plus they're making movies! There's even a creative outlet!

I like the setting that is largely Mediterranean influenced, a lot of the Italian backdrops give you the sense of being somewhere quite set apart from normal American conventions (obviously). I also have a fascination with aquatic life, but that's minimally important.

To hell with Cate Blanchett though... that Annemarie Sakowitz is all this lonely seafarer needs *cat calls*

Oh lord. Growing up I wished my life was Boy Meets World so I'd have to say that. I used to wish I had a brother like Eric, and a Dad like Alan. I needed that friend like Shawn to pull me out of my shell like that, and I wouldn't have minded to fall in love with a girl like Topanga. I mean seriously. Does it get any better than the life of Cory Matthews?

Good question here Lilac. I think that I'd like to live in the POKEMON world as well. Setting out at the age of ten to pursue my pokemon career to become the pokemon master. I think that's pretty cool, plus you get to go on an adventure and catch all the pokemon in the world.

My second choice would be living in the Fast and Furious movie series. Cars, ladies, and money, good world if you ask me. Plus being paired with a badass like Vin Diesel would be awesome.

I would definitely want to live in the video game Red Dead Redemption, and be in the game as myself instead of a character. I would want to live there not just because it's like living in the old wild west but in the game because the free roam map is only so big, everything is closer so you wouldnt have to go too far for anything. The main character's(John Marston) ranch homestead is right in the middle of everything, close to town, close to the mountains for hunting and a lake for fishing and still with plenty of land for himself. I think part of the reason I like it so much is it reminds me of where I want to live in the future so it has a sort of special feeling to it. I would think I'd get along well with Marston because he's the same kind of guy I am, a family man who enjoys shooting and hunting, and a man who lets his actions speak instead of words.

For myself it would definitely be Imaginationland from South Park. Where else could you sing awesome songs like this:

If you can live in a movie or TV show why not live in a place where all your favorite characters exist.

I think I would prefer to live in imaginationland as myself because I could imagine anything I wanted and it would become true. If I felt like a porterhouse steak for dinner, done! If I wanted to play Atari 2600 all day, done! If I wanted a miniature Godzilla and Mechagodzilla to fight to the death? done! If I wanted to smoke pot all day every day, done! The possibilities as myself are endless.

I'm sure I would have gotten along with a lot of different characters. For example, I think me and Homer would have gotten along well as we are both friendly and besides since I'm in Imaginationland I could do all the stupid stuff I would want to do without getting hurt. Luckily if I didn't get along with anyone I could just imagine someone I would get along with.

Halloweentown from The Nightmare Before Christmas.

I've always loved Halloween, and love The Nightmare Before Christmas, it's a truly splendid demonstration of stop-motion animation. Halloweentown in the film captured my imagination when I was a kid and even now I love things like Haunted House rides at theme parks, it's the closest I'll ever get to experiencing a real-life Halloweentown. I'd love the idea of living in a Halloween orientated environment. I find the holiday strangely fascinating and even at 20 years of age (21 by the time the next Halloween roles around) I still love it.

Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex

By no means am I a big anime/manga fan, but I used to talk to my sister's then-boyfriend a lot about different films and tv shows when I was in my mid-late teens and one film he would mention whenever we watched The Matrix was Ghost In The Shell. Him and a friend of his got in a big argument one day when they were arguing whether Akira or GITS was a bigger inspiration on The Matrix franchise, which he eventually won.

A couple years later I went round to see my sister but she was out, and her bf and his mate were watching some Japanese cartoon with talking tanks, guys with buttons for eyes and a visually stunning universe. I asked if this was what their fight was about and after some brief head-scratching they confirmed yes it was, and swiftly resumed the debate. Having instigated a flare-up I then asked if I could borrow a couple of discs and see if I liked it. I absolutely powered through the first season.

Quite simply I had never seen anything like this before, and the huge back-story and world that was supported just sucked me right in. Ideas, this show had ideas. People could upgrade their brains, arms, eyes, legs, whatever. There were think-tanks that at times were very juvenile but were still machines built for destruction. There was a mostly non-prosthetic member of the group who was an outsider that wanted to hang on to his human qualities a little longer. There is just so much in this series that feeds the imagination and made me wonder what it would be like to experience these kinds of things some day.

This should come as no surprise, but I would want to live in the Final Fantasy universe. I'd go out into the forest each morning to beat up on local monsters to become powerful and learn new abilities under the Warrior character class. This way I'd also have plenty of money to spend on Health Potions to keep me in good shape or new equipment and I wouldn't have to have a traditional job since I get Gil from almost every battle that I win. I would have no need for a car and all of the frustrations that come along with that if I had my very own Chocobo or airship to get me where I need to go!

If I picked a specific character to put myself in the shoes of.... I'd pick Cloud from FF7. Yeah, no major shocker or surprise there. I know. I've already got the hair and the sword in real life and when I was younger I resembled Cloud in personality too. He has it pretty well and I wouldn't mind being in his shoes. Getting to save the world with your friends, chasing after your rival across the world while going on a cool quest in the process, loads of fun side quests on the way, and the chance to kill all sorts of monsters. As for who I think I'd get along great with? Cloud has a rather unique group of companions and I think I for the most part would get along with each of them. Caith Sith and Yuffie might annoy me a little, but I don't think any major arguments would break out. I know for a fact I'd get along great with Tifa, considering the fact that my wife resembles her in blonde form. ;)

Fucken' Power Rangers. You get to teleport anywhere, you get a huge ass robot with its owm parking space and autopilot, there always at least one hot chick in the group, badass equipment, martial arts expert and all that jazz.

If you could live in a Movie, TV Show, Book or Game - what would it be?

Lord of the Rings, no question about it. Despite the darkness that Sauron presents, it's still a simply beautiful and peaceful place with a huge amount of lore and variety of creatures. I'd love to explore as much as I could, and just be apart of something like that.

Would you prefer being yourself or to be in the shoes of a character you like?

I'd want to be an elf. Everlasting life, super human abilities, incredible intelligence, they have it all. The way they view nature is also something I would love to experience. My favorite characters from the books are all elves and it's be amazing to see the world as they do.

Which character do you think you'd have gotten along with well?

Probably Eomer or Faramir. Since I first saw the movies, i've had them high on my list of favorite characters. Eomer because of his raw aggression and how faithful he is to Rohan and Theoden, and Faramir because of his composure. I don't know what it is about these two, but they've always stuck out to me as two of my favorites out of a series with so many memorable characters.

Thats easy for me it would be The Garbage Pail Kids or Labyinth. Garbage Pail Kids Movie was my favorite movie of all time growing up and still is to this day and I would have love to hang out with the garbage pail kids. I would also love to live in a Labyrinth world. I always liked monster goblins trolls and all other weird looking creatures and I would love if all those crazy looking creatures were real. I would love to live in a Jim Henson world. How awesome would it be to live in a house with The Muppets
