Cloverfield 2 could be one of the most pointless films ever.

True. I haven't really read up on the sequel production thus far, so I'm unaware how heavily involved J.J. Abrams will be in the project, but anything that man touches is gold. Except for Gone Fishin'. That is the worst film ever created, by far. It makes cancer look like an orgasm.

The original not only doesn't require a sequel, but the sequel may very well hurt the original. How much further can they really elaborate on the subject? But, who knows, theres been plenty of times when it seemed like a sequel to a movie was blasphemy only to have it be excellent. I'll see it regardless.

I dont see the use for a sequel. The only way they could have a sequel is if they shot the film from a soldiers point of view. From what i know , The creature didnt die at the end of the movie so that could be a opening for a sequel.

Rumor has it there's a deep backstory into the whole thing and they want to go into it. Looks like they're trying to create American Godzilla.

Finished watching it today. It's alright. I'd have had more realistic characters though - a fat guy making a cheap porno when the monster attacks; have that at the start.
