Yes, I'm very excited. How excited? ! excited!
Miz had his first really superb singles contest last night. About darn time. But I still don't like him. Why?
His character. His rants and raves about how we are all wrong and how great he is strike the same nerve for me that Matt Hardy's Twitter rants do. And not in a light-hearted, amusing way. He doesn't have his character grounded in the sort of absurdity that Swagger and Rhodes do, so watching him is less palatable. Not in the good "heel heat" way, either. I'm talking about the way that makes me want to change the channel.
So you might be thinking that his serious tone is fine considering he's headed to the main event. Well, no. Sheamus and Chris Jericho and the like still pull of absurdity rather well, and Miz doesn't do serious as well as someone like... Drew McIntyre or Wade Barrett.
What I see in the Miz is someone who falls short of being taken seriously yet is not booked in a way that's fun, like Swagger or Rhodes. He's some strange, ugly step-child on the heel side of things that just doesn't click. I don't like watching it because it's so... underwhelming.
Maybe there's just something in the water over here today.
