I need information about Hulu Plus

So after finding out my TV/Internet bill is going up $25 a month, I'm thinking very hard about simply cutting out the $70 TV portion and putting $8 of that to Hulu.

I'm a big fan of Monday Night Raw, ESPN, Burn Notice, White Collar, Daily Show and Colbert Report. Daily Show and Colbert Report offer full episodes on their websites, so no worries there. I MIGHT be able to watch ESPN 3 without cable TV, since my Internet provider is an affiliate (not sure on this one). I think I can get local channels over the air.

So basically, it seems as if I need a way to watch Burn Notice, White Collar and Raw. What kind of quality are these provided in, how much commercial interruption is there, and how quickly are they posted? Will I be satisfied with my content, or should I look into satellite providers?

I'm in the same boat as you. My Cable bill has gone up 30 dollars since the beginning of the year, and it's only going to get worse from what I've been told. It's the Sport's networks that are driving up the cost of cable, and having to pay $5 a month for ESPN and $2 for the Big Ten Network isn't cutting it for me anymore.

I'm not sure about the quality of Hulu Plus, but I'm highly thinking of switching to it. From what I've heard, WWE content is available the day after it airs. If you're like me and DVR Raw and watch it on Tuesday, than you miss nothing. I'm not sure about other USA shows.

ESPN3 is a tough one. I know with my Time Warner you have to have a certain Tier bought with your cable package to get ESPN3. You better check with your provider.

I was done paying for cable when I kept getting bills of $80 or more when we're supposed to have the $49 package or whatever it was (no porn)......between the DVR box, the second DVR box, and whatever else, I was tired of it. So we got Netflix and Hulu Plus for $16 total.....I'm much happier now. The kids have plenty to choose from, including stuff I used to watch when I was under 10 years old that my son can now enjoy.

Hulu is pretty good. They have most prime time shows, and they're ready for viewing the next day. Some shows have seasons worth of shows, and some, only the last 5 episodes are kept. Sometimes, the stream will pause for a couple of seconds before starting again, but when it starts doing that, I just pause it for 5 minutes, go outside to smoke a cig, and by the time I come back, it's good to play all the way through, but I think that only happens to me because I live outside of town and I get a bad connection....if you live in a more populated area with better connectivity, you shouldn't have to worry about anything like this.

Anyway, I'll be back to let you know about those shows.

I know that I have read on Lordsofpain that Raw gets heavily gutted before being posted on Hulu.

Here is what I am referring to. It is dated back in October, so I am not aware if they have stopped making such big cuts.

Burn Notice- Web Only Content. Sorry, we do not have the rights to stream this show to your device. It is available at Hulu.com on your computer web browser.

That's what it says for that one. I've never watched a show that said this, but it looks like you can't watch it with your TV, just the computer.

Same thing with White Collar.

RAW- it looks like the last 20 episodes are available to watch, every RAW since Sept 24, but they are all 1:30 long, so not sure how you feel about that. I don't watch it like this, so I can't tell you, but it looks like they cut out the least important stuff.

Daily Show- Last 15 episodes are available for viewing.

Colbert Report- Last 15 episodes.

No problem, it was good information. If Raw was 2 hours long, that 1:30 would be perfect. I'm going to investigate satellite solutions, but I'm definitely keeping Hulu in mind. Thanks again.

Just throwing this out there, Hulu Plus does offer a 1 week free trial.

I'm not sure about Burn Notice or White Collar, but Raw is usually up pretty quickly. They cut it down to 90 minutes, so they cut out a lot of the crap (Divas). It's made watching Raw so much easier as they keep all the important stuff and trim the fat. I love watching Raw on there.

I have a streaming DVD player, a ROKU box, Hulu Plus, and Netflix. Plus the internet service for it all. All of those combined aren't even the same as the monthly cable bundle for my area was, which with taxes was about $140 a month. Anyway, Hulu is a good service with great shows and decent content. I do like Netflix abit better simply because there are more TV shows and movies with more variety of choices. Still, I mainly get Hulu Plus for WWE shows[all of them are on there, btw even NXT and Superstars], Supernatural new episodes, new episodes of Family Guy, and other older tv shows that are on too. To be honest, when I switched I was wondering why the hell I didn't do it sooner. Cable is a freaking rip off. The only thing I do not like about Hulu is that it is glitchy at times and there are ads on it. Netflix has no ads and rarely glitches and has more current television shows like Burn Notice that Hulu doesn't carry.

Every cable company (at least the major ones) has a department specifically geared towards saving customers that want to leave because the price is too high. If you call in to your provider and tell them you are going to cancel then you will immediately be transferred over to that department and depending on how much you push they'll give you some sort of offer to try and save you from leaving and many times the offer just offsets whatever increase you were about to see. In terms of Hulu Plus, I did the free trial a while back and wasn't really a fan. The content is better then netflix, but I personally couldn't give up all the sports options I get with cable to go down to that.

I wound up going with Dish Network, for $35 a month (plus $40 in cable internet from Charter) for the first 12 months. That includes a DVR service, so I'm pretty happy. And Big Sexy, I did do that, and they still didn't offer me a better deal.
