Hurricane Warning?

I loved the Helms' Hurricane gimmick, it was entertaining, it was a classic with his segments with The Rock, Helms' in ring ability is very good and as a heel was seen as legit and had the longest reign with the Cruiserweight title.

Im looking forward to his actual in ring return.

I always liked the Hurricane. It was a great gimmick and really got over with the fans. I hope his in-ring return comes soon because if he doesn't, fans will soon start to forget about him. If it would help, they have should have a big name superstar feud with him much like the Rock in 2003. The Hurricane was his most over when he was feuding with the Great One. I don't see that many that would actually help. I don't see anybody on RAW and the closest one on Smackdown would be CM Punk but he's feuding with Hardy so they need Hurricane in the ring soon so he can continue his momentum.

Big fan of the Hurricane gimmick, as Helms played it well whether he was face or heel. Excited to see him return, obviously start as face but then become heel so he can get into the ECW title picture

Well, I gotta say I'm stoked about the return of the old Hurricane gimmick, and frankly, I think they're approaching this the right way although they're maybe being a bit overcareful. My guess is that WWE saw how well Suicide did for TNA and decided it's time to bring back one of their spandex-wearing superhero types. Hurricane was fun, he was silly, and he was often surprising. Yeah, okay, it was with a quick roll-up, but who would have thought of this guy beating The Rock? Yet he did, and gave The Game a solid run for his money let us not forget. I'd love to see him as the Hurricane again and can also foresee a lot of ribbing from the other superstars, which I wouldn't mind if they allow Hurricane to back it up with force.

On a side-note, I'd like to say that I'm not of the opinion that Hurricane is just for the kids, but then I'm one of those that enjoys a solidly exaggerated character that makes me laugh but who can also kick ass. Yes, they're giving him a build right now, but I wish they'd get his black and green spandex-wearing butt into that ring and have him bring it to some of the heels. Watch them laugh and make fun of him, then watch him make them eat their words. There's another thing I can see: Hurricane and Goldust as Tag-Team champions. It could happen.

I'm actually very happy about this as I always liked The Hurricane gimmick in the past, though I did enjoy Helms' run as the cocky cruiserweight champion but he'll always be known as a superhero.

It gives Helms something to do too since he didn't do much after his return.

Well the Hurricane saved the day on ECW Tuesday. As Burchill was taking care of Yoshi Tatertotsoup (sorry, that is what I think of when I hear or see his name), Hurricane saved him and attacked Burchill. So it looks like we will be getting a Burchill/Hurricane program. I for one am excited to see Hurricane back, as he was always entertaining and fun to watch.

Helms looked great on ECW, He looks very dark compared to his last stint as The Hurricane, Due to his long dark hair, He looks like The Green Lantern, Crossed with the Joker. I've always enjoyed watching Helms in the ring, He's a technition, The type i like. That crossbody looked pretty badass too. As long as he doesn't use the fucking chokeslam again he will be fine in my eyes.

Helms has always been a favourite, and even as a heel cruiserweight he was amazing, but i can sense something i little dark about the Hurricane character.

Well seeing Hurricane Helms on ECW just got me thinking have they ever used him since he was drafted.Did he have a single match, well since ECW is for talent to develop why have they not pushed him into in ring action I saw him wrestle in a house show. Now another thing Hurricane Helms is returning as The Hurricane which is a cool gimmick but you cannot picture him as world champion with that gimmick I think they should have Helms feud with Tommy Dreamer so basically turn him Heel and let him wrestle then move him up to ECW Title matches I think the superhero gimmick is not going to work for him if he wants to be a legit contender for World Titles and personally ever since they revealed him as Gregory Helms you cannot real picture him as a masked man , that is like putting the Mask back on Kane when you already know what he looks like without it.So Do you think Helms should be brought back as wrestler or stay as an interviewer ?

Well, he's pretty bad at both of them, and his gimmick's stale, but he's more useful as a wrestler. He can definitely help the newer talent. He's got experience and can help put younger talent over. Not to mention that if he sticks with the Hurricane gimmick, it'd be a nostalgia trip, which wouldn't be too bad. He's good for a few laughs.

What Lariat said. he's much more useful as a wrestler to the company than as a wrestler. They could just get Jack Korpela or Josh Matthews or any of those guys to interview. His abilities as a wrestler aren't bad, and they might, and a very big might, give him the ECW title if they are left in dire straits with no other faces. Why not? It's wrestling. any gimmick can be a champion, and it's basically a mid card or upper mid card title anyways.

The short answer is: Wrestler. He's more useful and people mark out for him.

In my opinion, Helms is completely wasted as an interviewer. Let's face it, an interviewer exists for one reason only, and that is to make certain he/she doesn't upstage the interviewee. Helms is the type that is best when he is upstaging someone.

I personally find the Hurricane persona to be a very entertaining one and think that now, what with all the comic book movies and such coming out and becoming much darker and grittier, it's time for a new version of Hurricane, one more suited for ECW. It can still work, if it's done right, and they seem to be pushing it in that direction.

In addition, I'd love to see him and Yoshi Tatsu team up.

A thought came into my head why not move Kane to ECW and become Helms arch nemesis, the current Hurricane does look darker than usual and as the previous posts have stated he is not that good as a interviewer and since Kane's feud with Khali is going no where might as well move to ECW and feud with Helms since they both have the Comic Book theme.

In a WWE that is devoid of personality at times, I can say that it's good to see the Hurricane character return and judging by the pop Helms received on ECW, I'll assume others are as well. As crazy as it may be, I actually most enjoyed watching Helms as the Hurricane as opposed to just himself, whether it was in WCW as part of 3-Count (Shane Helms) or just his regular self in WWE. In many ways it was the Hurricane which brought Gregory Helms success and I hope now that he's back in that guise that he can make some sort of impact on ECW. Some have mentioned that the character appears darker than before, so perhaps when the inevitable Birchill/Hurricane feud wears off, it might be good to see a heel Hurricane.

I'd cheer for a heel Hurricane.

He's only an interviewer for the super-hero gimmick. He's like Super=man. He claims to be a reporter, backstage that's what he is, Gregory Helms. But then this maked man starts saving people from Heels, it's building up for his return.

He is much more useful as a wrestler and more then that if you actually watch his matches with Shelton on Smackdown last year you can see he has prob the biggest skill set out of anyone on that roster. I just hope the superhero gimmick won't limit the talent he has which sadly has been pushed back because of injuries

I think it's great he's coming back as the Hurricane. It doesn't matter if he doesn't get world titles, Helms wouldn't win one anyway. He can still get the ECW title or just feud for it without actually winning it. He is much more usefull as a wrestler and has a lot of experience to pass down to the younger guys. I'm actually really stoked he's back on television as the Hurricane himself. He looked pretty bad ass when he cross bodied Burchill. I just hope his first feud isn't with Borechill.

Well as someone hinted...Tiffany was wearing green and always there when those backstage accidents happened, so maybe she'd become the side kick of The Hurricane like back in the old days. I can see Helms feuding with Regal and Sheamus or someone like that.

Pretty stoked about this. Always loved The Hurricane gimmick, always funny shit. My brother made a Hurricane costume for Halloween in the 6th grade. Was actually pretty sweet. I don't like Burchil a whole lot, but if Helms can't help him get over, he wont get over and they should just drop him. He serves no purpose.

im getting the feeling that with the hurricane back now and atm feuding with paul burchill that he his gonna bring back the pirate gimmick some how and we will be seeing pirate vs superhero i love this@!

I‚d love to see pirate vs superhero.and kids would love it.but without the pirate gimmick, borechill is just a jobber working for little money

I would love to see the pirate gimmick come back. Pirate vs. Superhero is a great idea. Unfortunately, that's for another thread.

In case you couldn't tell, I am a Gregory Helms mark. In particular, I'm a mark for The Hurricane. I am a huge fan of comics and superheroes, and Helms seems like a really cool guy. So when the Hurricane returned, I jumped out of my seat.

I like Hurricane for many reasons: His in-ring work is great fun to watch, Helms seems like a cool guy, and The Hurricane is a unique and colorful character, and I like those. Hell, I was a fan of Deuce N Domino and their greaser gimmick! The Hurricane was over in his time and seems to be over again. I would certainly not mind an ECW title reign for our green-attired superhero.

My one problem is that they announced him as "Hurricane Helms" and seemingly took away his role as backstage interviewer. I think they should keep the personalities separate. It would make it more fun, and really go with the gimmick.

I'm honestly disgusted at the amount of people who want the Pirate gimmick to return. I loathed that gimmick, and felt it was an embarrassment to Paul Burchill. But thats another story, for another thread.

As far as the Hurricane's return goes - I was moderately impressed by his match-up against Burchill on ECW, however each time I see the new look Hurricane (basically, hair down) I can't help but think he looks dirty and in need of a bath. I don't get why, I guess its the hair down issue.

As far as where I see him going from here, that all depends on William Regal and this Sunday's title match. If Regal wins the title, and forms an Unholy Alliance with Jackson & Kozlov - I begrudgingly foresee the Hurricane becoming a ridiculous force against them, which in turn makes both Kozlov and Jackson look stupid. (I honestly hope this never happens, as Jackson is impressing me weekly and I feel he has strong potential to go far)

i really want burchill and the hurricane to have a decent fued and with good storyline not just matches. like hurricane could hire some random to be backstage and then burchill unmasks him to find its some random.
the fued could end in a hair vs mask match:shrug:
