Hulk Hogan, the legendary wrestler, says the UK is a vital organ in the world wrestling body. Hogan, who turned 58 yesterday, says that TNA Impact wrestling knows how important the UK market is.

He told FT exclusively this week: “I think there are certain key points. You have to go to the UK.

“The UK is a monster, with so much history, so much dedication, and I’m talking from way before Haystacks.

“In the 80s Hulk Hogan came through and changed the game for everyone but the UK is in the heart, liver and lungs of the body of wrestling. It is vital we keep the UK plugged in.

“I would love to come back and I’m talking to Dixie about it today.”

Whether that means the January tour or not is unclear, but Hogan is happy to announce that RVD, Beer Money, Crimson, Mickie James and Gunner will be here for the January Maximum Impact Tour.

As for himself, Hogan is in bullish mood.

He’s had a rough couple of years with his son’s imprisonment, divorce and the litany of physical pain accumulated over years in the ring.

He says: “The divorce, my son’s accident and him in jail really rattled me bad.

“Some people say that you carry stress around in a part of your body.

“All the stress went to my back, and I was beat up anyway, so that my spine started to turn counter-clockwise on itself.

“They opened me up in 2009 and kept cutting too much bone over and over and it just got worse and worse.

“I had eight back surgeries in a row. The last one, they had me open for 12 hours – but that’s the end of the sob story!

“I’m training hard. It’s perfect. I’m 58 years old now and I dare any 25-year-old man to stand next to me with his shirt off!”

Hogan says that above all, consistency is needed in the tv product, telling me: “You have to try to re-invent yourself every week.

“I don’t want to see AJ Styles do an awesome move for no reason and then sit there and see him do exactly the same thing seven years later.

“I want to see AJ Styles do an awesome move with a story behind it, consistently.

“Wrestling is what really matters. The in-ring product.

“All that other stuff gets you to the dance, but you have to have the in-ring.”

It’s fortunate indeed that TNA Impact wrestling have consistent brilliance like Styles to rely on in the first place, and it remains their greatest opportunity.

Nice comment about AJ

Of course Hogan tries to pretend the only market where more people watch TNA is the only important one. The rest is a bunch of atypical laughable crap.

I honestly don't understand Hogan here at all that I have read this 3 times now an I just laugh.

Wrestling matters is the theme of tna. IT MATTERS since Hogan is on my T.V, IMMORTAL cuts a promo, ANDERSON acts like a adhd manic idiot. 6 min Knockout match. Shacky backstage thing were the camera man acts like he is hidin so well. OH NO now its ERIC BISCHOFF with his fake phone call. Now an X Division match. Those are always good. OK now lets see more Sting an other stuff. NO wrestling STILL DONT MATTER!!!!! BUT keep the UK happy because a lot of them are huge TNA fans and thats good to have. IM a HUGE tna FAN too but the wrestling hasn't mattered yet!!!! An when they wrestle its the wrestlers who are lazy likes of RVD an JOE!!!!! damn get it together TNA an actualy try to get your product rolling an out to the public better.

Sorry for the rant but i just want to watch wrestling good wrestling an TNA is good wrestling just lacking it ATM!!!!!

Take a look at the two posts following the OP if you want to know why people make fun of the IWC. Hogan did an interview for the UK. In the interview he talked about how much he enjoyed coming over there. He then put over his own company. Basically, he did exactly what your supposed to do when you give an interview. Way to start in on the "fuck Hogan" and "he ruined TNA" chants.

I don't really know what my thoughts on the interview are. All I can say is that it sounds exactly like every other phone interview wrestlers do. However, I'm sure this will lead to 3 pages of people damning the Hogan name.

Did Hogan call Styles brilliant or was that the writer of the article? The 'brilliant' line is not in quotes. If anything it sounded like Hogan was calling AJ a guy who could do amazing moves in the ring, however the moves are pointless.

At least this shows that Hogan knows Styles is on the roster.

For one no it wasn't a bash on Hogan at all. Its bash on the wrestling matters crap that they have been saying an we still haven't seen. Still you an I also don't see whats the point of the interview as we know UK fans like TNA more then the WWE or so it seems number wise.

I personal like what hogan has done an it seems to get better, my rant is about how the wrestling matters when we see more promos, shacky camera segments, eric bischoff phone calls. I get that, this also makes wrestling but i still want to see the guys wrestle. To much good talent to be wasted away if the wrestling don't matter. I just want it to matter more. I want to see good matches for good length of time in TNA an WWE!! As far as hogan goes I don't mind he's in TNA!!!!

What does hogan mean by this comment?

Sorry english is not too good

Thanks

There's a line above, “You have to try to re-invent yourself every week."

What he seems to be getting at is that AJ started off as a bit of a spot-monkey without telling a story in the ring and that he has evolved. He can still hit the same moves he did back in the day, but he's able to tie them together and tell more of a story in the ring; he's not just hitting them for the sake of them. That's my guess anyways :)

As for the rest of the article, Tuffy54 pretty much laid out how it's the standard interview fare. It was for a British tabloid, talking about the British wrestling market and the prospect of a British tour, then some background as to what's been going on with him personally in case some people don't know. It's all good.

Is hogan being critical of AJ or is he giving AJ a compliment?

Of course Hogan tries to pretend the only market where more people watch TNA is the only important one. The rest is a bunch of atypical laughable crap.

Where does he say the UK is the only important market? He's just pointing out it's a big market for TNA, which is 100% fact. I believe TNAs attendence record was set in London, England. The ringside tickets for their show in London last year sold out in less than a minute (I know because I was on the net the minute they went on sale and couldn't get a decent seat). Their ratings over here are the best for a wrestling show etc.

People in the US are loyal to their wrestling show, in England, we're not. We'll watch what ever we enjoy more. TNA stand much more of a chance of taking over the WWE in the UK than they do the US and Hogan just realises this. And plus whenever you do media in a different country, you're bound to make it sound like they matter. If Hogan went "Who gives a shit about the UK, we can't even sell them PPV, what's the point." It wouldn't go down too well.

"I would love to come back and I’m talking to Dixie about it today.”

That would be awesome. Rob Van Dam and Ric Flair were the reasons I was desperate for a ticket last year. I really thought I'd missed an opportunity by not being able to go last year. So I'm glad to see RVD is coming over again and I'm not going to miss this opportunity. And if Hulk Hogan can make it as well, I'll even settle for a shit seat. Glad to see Crimson and Gunner's names are there to.

Is hogan being critical of AJ or is he giving AJ a compliment?

He's being a bit critical of his old work, but paying compliment to how he's evolved.

What I mean is, AJ is more likely to work on a body part and use his moves accordingly so his opponent can sell the injury, rather than, say, work on the legs, hit the inverted DDT then do the Styles Clash. AJ's better now at tying sequences of moves together rather than playing to the crowd and hitting moves they call for.

I think someone can explain it better than I can just now, got a bit of a buzz on :)

Just when I was thinking you couldnt possibly win anymore with your comments you made this post. Hogans just that guy whos cool to hate, and people will pull at any strings to hate on him.
-----------------------------------------------

Its no question TNA has a strong fan base in the UK and it would be idiotic of them not to play to their crowd. Hopefully they can have a big tour there sometime soon. Hogan is really candid and honest in these interviews, and thats what I like about him.
