I was pretty impressed with Jeff Hardy this week. He still need a little work on the mic. He screams the last word he says kills whatever he said prior. All in all though, decent work. The taped promo was so much better and is hopefully setting the tone for his new character. He needs to be dark, and angry.

I dont know about you guys but I feel like TNA could be turning a corner.

Hardy's promo was better than I expected it to be. He's gotten tremendous praise on this forum for it and some are making out to be much better than it actually was. Hardy managed to get on the mic, gave a short solid speech and managed not to come off like an embarassment. In all honesty, I don't really think that anybody could as for more from Jeff Hardy at this particular time. I liked the first one in the ring more than the second one, which I personally thought was a little on the corny side. It didn't set some new standard in promos, which seems to be the prevelent feeling you get when you read comments where people are gushing all over this, but it was the best I've ever heard out of Jeff Hardy thus far.

Agreed it didn't set a standard for mic-skills, but it set a standard for Hardy's mic-skills and now all he has to do is make sure he stays above this standard. He needs to stick to a dark character that is always PO'ed about something or other, he also needs to keep his head down when he talks in backstage promos and be a bit mysterious. The thing I want Hardy to keep from this is to wear dark clothes, simple black jean-type things and a dark shirt with hardly any designs (i.e. not something as silly as Abyss' old shirt that had red and yellow spots on it...). He also needs a new entrance theme (on iMPACT his entrance did sound different but I think a completely new one is the better option). Hardy basically has to slowly add to this heel persona and not fly into it.

By the way has anyone else though of the fact that if Hardy is a heel and he gets convicted for drugs and has to take 3 months or so off then it would make sense... he's a heel... TNA played it perfectly with heel Hardy.

Although it was DEFINITELY better than I thought, it still wasn't very good. I agree with some of the posts before mine. There was a rip-off Raven "Effect" to it. The poor me promo.

He seemed to even have some sort of an accent when he appeared on the screen, when RVD was in the ring.

So out of a 10 ranking, I would give him a 6 or possibly a 7. Which for Jeff Hardy, isn't that bad I guess!!

I hated his first promo when he got into the ring and started talking. You have no choice but to compare it to Austin's heel promo in '01, and Bret's in '97, and Hogan's in '96, and Rock's in '98 and '03, and Hardy's has to be the worst heel turn promo ever done, even when you compare it to some midcarder heel turn promo's. It was awful, cheesey, and he didn't sound like he gave two shits about the promo itself. He no-sell'd it.

As far the video promo that he did, it wasn't that good either but it has gotten people talking, it's a different approach, and if they keep it up and get it to become darker and more menaced then I think it can lead to something pretty cool. I mean, it has to be good. People are comparing it to Raven's promos in his earlier days of wrestling, so there ya' go. If you can competitively compare a promo to one of Scott Levy's, then it must be pretty damn good.

In-Ring; 2.9/10.0
Video Promo; 6.1/10.0

Being a Jeff Hardy fan I never thought his promos were anything special, I felt they got the job done (furthered the story) But watching his heel promos, I was generally interested, I liked what I saw (and heard) and I felt it was a vast improvement and I'd like to see them improve.

It was better than I expected since Hardy was more serious and toned down. He did have a weird cryptic Raven like promo backstage, but it is much better then I thought it could be. Hardy could actually be a good heel if it is done correctly. I think they are on the right track. Hopefully Hardy will be given more time to talk so he can express more of his frustrations as to why he turned. So far he hasn't been bad.

I love Jeff and all those years in the industry I can't remember him ever being a heel, plus with all the experience he's had in his career there's absolutely no way he's a low heat heel. I think this could be interesting because he actually seems pretty good at it but he could improve. If he plays this right it could be the biggest thing in his career so far.

I thought it was pretty damn good. I can't recall Hardy ever having the opportunity to truly be a heel during his WWE days. This is a side of Jeff that makes him completely fresh for me. His promo was realistic and dark, very reminiscent of Raven's work back in his ECW days. Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing what Jeff can do with the character. Its well known that he is a creative person so now he will get the opportunity to showcase what he can do.

"I didn't sell out, I sold in"

With that one line, Jeff Hardy had me sold. Dont ask me why, just the way he said it. Now for a guy that can usually cut good promos, this was barely passable, but for someone like Hardy who is very limited, it worked very well. It was to the point, and it laid out the whole reason for why he turned. I'm excited to see how well he does from here on out though with his new persona. Something tells me though, he might hit the jackpot though.

I gotta say Im liking Jeff as a heel and that whole Antichrist of Wrestling gimmick people are buzzing about Matt coming over to TNA I wonder if he does if he would stand by his brother or against

I went with better than i thought, if talking about the initial inring bit after Bound For Glory that was meh!!!

but the backstage promo was very reminicent of Raven, which is no doubt the type of character they are going for.

either way though he is a dead duck as champ, im sorry but Jeff Hardy is no good in general for anything other than taking unneccesary bumps.

I like Jeff's heel character so far.

Alot of people were crappy on it before he even had the promo on Impact, because it didn't work in the WWE, and he seems like such a nature face, but just like it was with Styles, it's a matter of going about it a certain way.

Having him be creepy and bitter, a la Raven, for always giving the fans what they want, but not being taken seriously in return for all these years fits him well. It should work as long as he stays that way.
