How To Reunite The Shield.... at least temporarily

Getting Noticed By Management
I know this has been something going back and forth forever but I thought of an idea to do it with the new revelations on RAW with Sting.

At NOC, I have Sting go over and win the title thanks to interference from Kane. This would set up Kane vs Rollins at Hell in a Cell, where Rollins goes over.

Rollins gets his rematch at Survivor Series vs. Sting where he loses again. Sheamus cashes in successfully on Sting.

Tension builds between Rollins and Triple H. Rollins asks for a chance to win back the title at TLC vs. Sheamus. Rollins loses in controversial fashion.

Triple H says he no longer is handing Rollins anything. Brings in Sheamus to The Authority. Rollins wins a Battle Royal to get into The Royal Rumble...only for Triple H to say he must enter #1.

At Royal Rumble, Rollins gets eliminated late by an interfering Kane and Sheamus as well as a third man who would be participating in the match, lets say Kevin Owens for shits and gigs (only guy I can think of). Cena wins Rumble (going for the record tying win at Wrestlemania)

Rollins comes out on RAW and challenges Triple H to a match at Wrestlemania for he is sick of The Authority holding him back. HHH says he has nerve yap yap yap. Rollins says he could have won all those matches without them and he will prove it at Mania. HHH says Rollins has to earn that match. Rollins suggest he run a gauntlet of sorts during the next few weeks and if he wins all, he gets HHH. HHH agrees

Rollins beats Kane. Rollins beats Owens (or whoever). Rollins has Sheamus beat but interference causes loss. Rollins says at Fastlane he wants all 3 of them. HHH says go ahead and find two partners. The week before Fastlane, Rollins gets jumped by The Authority. Reigns and Ambrose make the save.

Shield vs The Authority at FastLane. In the match, Reigns turns on The Shield.

Next night, HHH basically calls Rollins a scrub and will give Rollins his match at Wrestlemania. If Rollins loses, he will never receive a WWE Title shot. HHH loses, he steps down as COO.

So from this angle, which obviously is raw and not in full detail for its a long enough post already creates 3 big time WM matches (Rollins vs HHH, Ambrose vs Reigns, and Cena vs Sheamus for the title) and also gives the fans a Shield reunion we have been hoping for, hopefully creating a monster heel in Reigns for pretty much pulling the rug out on us and making it truly a one night only deal.

Like I said, I know its raw but what you guys think in a general sense. Keep in mind Brock vs Taker is very likely at Mania and it opens up a Sting vs Wyatt match which Wyatt can actually win now that Sting has at the very least been given a huge WWE win.

This sounds okay on paper, but there's plenty of problems.

- Kane should retire.
- Sheamus shouldn't be in the main event scene.
- Sting shouldn't win the WWE Championship.
- Cena is doing fine in the upper mid-card scene.
- The Shield shouldn't rejoin, even for a short period of time.
- Reigns is doing fine as a face; he's gaining popularity.
- Rollins is the #1 heel in WWE. Why would you change that?

If it's not broke, then don't fix it. WWE is getting better, so let it progress.

You are pretty much right on - give them all a common enemy so they must work together. Problem though is what do you do once it is over? It is one thing when they are tossed together for a Raw or Smackdown but if you are going to do an angle like this, they need to stay together for a while and there really is no need for that right now.

Seth doesn't need the shield at the moment he is the best in the business

He's pretty entertaining, but I wouldnt go as far as saying he is BEST in the business. Like it or not, the person who is best in the business is the person who draws money to his matches, puts on an entertaining match, and gets a loud reaction whenever his music cues up, and right now just like he has been for about the past year or year and a half, that person is Brock Lesnar. If Seth was the best thing going, his match with Cena wouldve main evented Summerslam, not be a match mid way through. Brock/Taker was the main event because they draw money. Im not saying Seth isnt awesome, im just saying he isnt the #1 guy in WWE right now.

There is money in a Shield reunion but I think it would be a mistake to rush to it or try and force it. It's not that long since they split up and I think if you just let all three men find their way it will eventually come around anyway. Plus, I really hate the idea of Sting as the champ, he's a special attraction now and not in the way that Lesnar is. He's old and he's slow and he has no place as WWE Champion at this time.

One thing that really stands out to me is, why would you reform the Shield after RR, just to have them disband again 3 weeks later? Plus, where does this leave Reigns? What was his motivation for (presumably) joining HHH? Does he shrug his shoulders and say "Hey, you all know this isn't real. Just go with it."?

Also, a Shield reunion should happen years down the line, when the gimmick isn't still fresh in peoples minds. IMO anyway..

At this point in time, reuniting The Shield would probably work in the short term, though it'd probably be ridiculed endlessly by dirt sheet writers and a great many internet fans because it's too soon. A lot of fans would mark out the first time, there'd be cheers all over the place but the criticism would come almost immediately after the adrenaline wore off. Rollins still brags about being the one who "destroyed" The Shield on a regular basis and not nearly enough time has passed for Reigns & Ambrose to believably "get over" being screwed over by Rollins.

Rollins dropping the WWE Championship to Sting, in my eyes, makes no sense. I know there are some fans who want to see the novelty of Sting being WWE Champion for the sake of nostalgia, but I'm most certainly not one of them. Sting is 56.5 years old, he's a 12 time World Heavyweight Champion, he's feuded with a good many of the biggest names in American wrestling to debut in the past 40 years, he's had a HOF career and there's just too much of a downside in vanity reigns in my opinion. Like The Undertaker, Sting is a special attraction who's rolled out every so often to play on the nostalgia factor to help generate more WWE Network subscriptions; it's highly unlikely we'll see Sting inside the ring again after NOC until WrestleMania.

If WWE wants to reform The Shield with a new member, I'd have no problem with it, though I think it'd work best if it was someone who was well established and very over with fans. If they want to reunite the original Shield, I think they need to wait a few more years.

I think if anyone will join the shield even to face the wyatt family now that they have the big guy would be the Rock, right now its 3 against 2, not sure what happen to Harper but for now is 3 against 2, either Big show will join cause he has the size to even the odds or Rock will make an appearance to help out Roman being family, I do like the set up for Seth that one laid out but would WWE actually do it, it would set up for a few good matches, Triple vs seth would be a good match, not sure how long Wyatts will feud with Roman will it fade away like the first time the shield squared off against the Wyatts, then again the Rock coming in to even the odds they are trying to put over this new guy would having the rock come in and destroy this guy be good for one match or is this guy going to be like Kane and Undertaker look to be unstoppable for a bit be interesting to see what happens, clearly you know the shield will be bringing in someone to make it 3 on 3, but their is still the question of where is Harper who has been gone for a bit

In my verdict, Sting winning the World title is the great opportunity for heel Mr.MITB to cash it in on him. It'll give the WWE an immense opportunity to make a heel to cash in the MITB contract on a heel Champion. This won't affect Seth Rollins because he still has the US title.

But I don't fancy the idea of reuniting the Shield with Seth Rollins nor the idea of Roman Reigns turning on them. Seth should be a loner, with no one behind him when he faces the Authority, and Reigns shouldn't turn heel right now. Seth is destined to be the future of WWE. He should dethrone the Authority all by himself! And in the topic of Kane, he should kindly never return.

Cheers!!
