How did we have such a fun but such a dissapointing and least starstudded rumble?

Kharma's newborn baby should've been number 30

See, now this is an acceptable answer to my question. Kharma's newborn would have been a great surprise entrant. Can you imagine the heat that Miz could have gotten by beating up a baby? I would have gone with the Snitzky punt for the elimination.

So basically it makes the Rumble better for you personally but in the grand scheme of things is irrelevant.

But wasn't this thread about voicing why it was disappointing? I posted my reasons and you seem to want to argue just for sake of arguing. ;)

The rumble matches are all about surprise entrants, and comedy spots and time wasting until the end where the shit get serious. The comedy spots and Kofi spot were great. The surprise entrants were the usual. The disappointing part for most would be the serious shit stuff. There were just too many gimmicky spots lessening the value of each.

The serious shit stuff was disappointing until the end between Jericho and Sheamus. The back to back was awesome but they had no interaction whatsoever in the build up to the rumble to make us want to invest more in it though.

It was an entertaining event and it was well worth my money spent. I still think having John Laurinaitis win the thing would have been amazing, just imagine the announcing "bah gawd he's done it! Johnny has won the Rumble, he's done the unthinkable. John Laurinaitis, John Laurinaitis, John Laurinaitis! Ladies and gentleman dreams do come true. John Laurinaitis is going to the main event of WrestleMania 28."

Every single thread and post on this site is someone stating their opinion and trying to defend it. However, this is a discussion forum so when people disagree they tend to respond and then debates ensue. If people just want to state their opinions without any debate then they should go write a blog.

IMO, the punk/ziggler match was the weirdest part. I expected HHH to come out and yell at Laurinitis for not really reffing or something but the match was good so that made up for it. And the #30 entrant should've been someone else.. Big show doesnt get a huge pop and we already saw him earlier. Y2j or orton shouldve been 30, and the whole thing with kingstons handstand, the cobra/sock thing, and the returns, i was pretty pleased overall, couldve been better, but i give it 3.5/5 stars

Christ, people have such high standards for pro wrestling.

It was a fun match and they are definitely getting my $20 when I purchase the DVD on PPV at Walmart solely for the Royal Rumble match.

*Pulls thread back to debating why it was a fun but disappointing rumble instead of debate over debating on a forum.

I think the reason why the rumble is weird this year is the main events prior to Raw and Smackdown was used to build up the title matches and the Cena/Kane match and less time was spent on hyping up the rumble itself. The main storyline being pushed that I can remember is Orton/Barrett and the Jericho trolling but both were not featured prominently in the rumble itself. That is why this rumble feel more like a midcard battle royal than previous rumble to me.

It wasn't the other way around, Nate. Horny eliminated Sheamus in a battle royale o Smackdown a few weeks back.
Also, the PPV lacked a distinct taste of Christian. Also, NEED MORE MASKED KANE.

I wanted a big return. I was jumping up and down reading about Brock or RVD or some has been loser showing u. Sheamus vs Bryan for WHC at Mania does nothing for me.

I'll watch it and say but overall a weak card, maybe their performance was good.

I would have rather seen Doink the Clown or even X Pac over Hunico, Epico, Primo, and Jay Uso. Hell even Michael Hayes would have been someone the fans would actually know and cheer for. Mahal, Khali, and Zeke Jackson were pretty much wasted spots too. Isn't Christian ready to come back? Give the fans someone exciting besides just Hacksaw, Foley, and Road Dogg.

Good Ole IWC. Can't see something good when it comes up and bitchslaps them across the face. The Rumble was fantastic all around.

I don't follow WWE but somehow I was under the impression they said the champions could compete for whatever reason.

How awesome would it have been if Taker's music hit and he did his entrance down to the ring and right when he climbed up on the apron the buzz hit and HHH's music hit?

I was there live and it was interesting. The focus is still the build up to WM28 and the Rock vs Cena match. They played several video packages live in the area over the course of the night.

A "lets go Ziggler" chant broke out during his match with Punk. Some pretty offensive things got yelled out during the Cena Kane match, "Kill Cena" "Kill HIM! (when Ryder came out)

Tatsu vs Slater was the dark match, Tatsu got the win. Fairly decent match, the fans hate Slater, and I mean they seriously hate Slater.

I think the ending for Henry vs Show vs Bryan got botched, it looked really weird live.

The minute the Diva's music hit, I headed out to grab some merch and a redbull and missed everything that took place.

Cena vs Kane went as expected to help drag this feud out for another month. I just wish Ryder wasn't getting the short stick because he was doing so well before.

Clay squashed McIntry in roughly 2 minutes prior to the rumble. Not sure why neither of them was used in the rumble, but Clay's entrance live is pretty fucking entertaining.

Punk vs Ziggler seemed to have gotten off to a rough start, and the surprise was Johnny not screwing Punk but randomly jumping in to help count the three at the end. WTF. It looked like Ziggler was going to take the gold, but unfortunately for us Dolph-Fans last night wasn't his night

As for the Rumble

Miz looked strong in the beginning, as did Cody. Surprised Foley entered so early. But the interaction between him and Santio was pure comic gold. The Cobra and Mr Socko, hilarious.

Cole, King and Booker T were all unexpected and King and Booker T got good pops live.

Kharma eliminating Cole got a great pop live. Kharma eliminating a jobber or two got a great pop, Ziggler taking her finisher also got a great pop.

The Big Show killed the match for me when he eliminated Rhodes and Miz.

Sheamus winning got a great pop, but Jericho not winning got a lot of heat.

Taker
HHH
Cena
Kane
Punk
DBD
The Godfather

They didn't need 40 though, as they didn't even have 30.

So you wanted a guy who hasn't returned yet. You wanted the COO who has no reason to be in the Rumble. You want Cena and Kane who make zero sense from a storyline stand point. You want the two world champions who make zero sense from a logic stand point. And finally, you want the Godfather who I personally would have loved to see but if you switch him out with another one of the surprise entrants the match really doesn't change at all, we just see some hoes.
