According to F4WOnline.com, WWE had planned for the World Title match at WrestleMania to be a quick bout several weeks ago, however there were some officials who lobbied to have that idea changed.

The reason why WWE ran such a short bout is because the company wanted to set a new record for the quickest title match at WrestleMania, which was previously held by Kane and Chavo Guerrero for the ECW Title at WrestleMania 24. However, last night's World Title bout did not beat the record, as it lasted 18 seconds and the Kane/Guerrero match lasted 8 seconds.
Aim high, swing low.

It's sad that the diva's match got way more screen time than the World Heavyweight Championship match did. Someone remind me of this the next time I claim that the WWE and World titles are supposedly equivalent.

A little part of me wonders if the bell was supposed to ring after AJ kissed Bryan. If that happened, then they probably would have broken the record.

I'm starting to think WWE hiring internet fanboys might be an improvement over these "amazing" ideas.

I'm not buying that dirtsheet report for one second, simply because it doesn't make any sense. There's no reason to set out to break that record unless there is a significant reason to punish one of the participants, and I'm not aware of anything going on that would qualify for this.

I have no idea why they made such a farce of the WHC, but I say let it develop before we are too quick to criticize.
