Hell In A Cell 2015: WWE United States Championship - John Cena VS ?

Jack-Hammer

YOU WILL RESPECT MY AUTHORITAH!!!!
It was announced last night that there'll be another US Open Challenge for Cena's United States Championship. It could be just about anyone, though I'd say most people are leaning towards it being Ziggler. At any rate, since HIAC is supposed to be Cena's final bout before he takes the rest of the year off, it's pretty much a given that he'll lose the title, decisively, possibly resulting in some sort of "injury" to write him off television.

I honestly didn't realize the other thread was in the spam zone, so here's my post from there, which says all I need to say:

If it's DZ I'd be really disappointed. The only exception to that is if they're waiting for the angle to take the belt off of Cena for the following night on Raw. Even a DZ heel turn would be underwhelming.

This is a perfect opportunity to establish someone brand new or pretty new, like they did with KO. I doubt they have someone go over 100% clean like KO did because that's already been done, plus it wouldn't write Cena off TV. Have Cena win by DQ because a heel beats him half to death with weapons. I wouldn't even be upset if Cena won clean and then gotten beaten up. I guess they could use that scenario to turn DZ heel, but anything involving DZ these days isn't very notable.

The point is, even if it is someone underwhelming, it's still a chance to make a big statement with whoever it is. The last thing I want to see is Cena come out Monday night and say "Hey, I'm taking some time off. Here's your title, WWE."

I've mentioned DB as well, but as it was pointed out to me, that would be a huge match and doing it unannounced would be wasting a good opportunity.

I think at this point, it's pretty much going to be Tyler Breeze. If Cena is leaving, you HAVE to use Ziggler as a babyface to try and fill in that upper midcard face slot.

I think it could be a interesting coincidence. On wwe.com they have on the front page the 5 people who have debuted and won a title. Could be foreshadowing a Tyler Breeze debut and title win.

This is a huge chance for someone who WWE has big plans for to make a huge statement and also to take on the challenge of keeping the US title like Cena has going forward... Tyler Breeze is the seeming surprise option, but I can't help but feel underwhelmed by that as, like I do Neville, he seems a guy perfect for a midcard role and nothing more.

My best candidates as of now:
Ambrose, Harper/Strowman, New Day, Samoa Joe or Finn Balor.

Nevertheless, Big Show doesn't have a storyline going on, atm... so.. ;) ;) ;)

This was going to be my second choice.

The entire stadium chanting YES! YES! YES! and then... WEEELLLLLLL It's the BIG SHOOOWWWW.

Exactly!! He'll lose the title for pretty sure but I don't think Dolph would be a great idea. If you think and see rational, he oversells and it sort of looks like awkward at times. On Raw, he fell down from the apron before Sheamus could touch him and never got up for a few minutes. Anyhow this isn't the thread to talk about it.

I wish Daniel Bryan would return and win the title and keep US title challenge open. This could boost the ratings as well.

Cheers!!

I think it'll be Dean Ambrose. He doesn't have a match and he's popular and he could hold down the top face spot while Cena and Orton are gone.

With the fall of Orton and the 6-man tag put on the pre-show, it looks like Neville, Cesaro, Rusev, Sheamus, Ziggler, and Barrett are all off the table, unless someone pulls double duty. From what I've read, Ziggler was a favorite to challenge Cena, and it looks like whomever does challenge will win, as Cena is taking time off, so I'm glad it's likely NOT Ziggler, as I don't want him to be US champion right now. He's been there before and it would feel like more of the same.

The other rumor is Tyler Breeze is making his debut soon, and might partner with Summer Rae. In my mind, if he were to come up, immediately win the US title, then be chased by Ziggler and potentially retain by "stealing" Summer Rae from Ziggler, he'd dodge a few early bullets and gain relevance very quickly.

If not Breeze, then I'm not sure who it would be. Ambrose, perhaps, though he was supposed to be in a match, but plans do change. A Wyatt would seem like a waste. Fingers crossed for no Mark Henry or Big Show. And that kinda dries up the roster, unless Heath Slater finally gets his shot, wins in an upset, and has a small run of his own.

Daniel Bryan would be the best choice if he is allowed to wrestle but whoever is chosen will have some large shoes to fill for with the way the WWE has degraded the WWE champion, the US belt might be the most important belt in
the company.

If not Ambrose, it's going to be a return. I may not be surprised even if Ziggler answers. If it was going to be Tyler Breeze, he wouldn't have debuted on SD!

Since Ambrose is scheduled to be the central point of house shows during Cena's absence, I guess he would make for a great challenger. I'm a big fan of Ambrose so, it can be called a selfish thought too.

Oh wait! The New Day has three members. If I sit here thinking, I can mention a lot of names.

Cena's open challenges have always been fun. And Hell in a Cell is not going to be a contrary to it.

I wish it's Ambrose or Bryan.

I think that he debuted on Smackdown to establish his feud with Ziggler BEFORE he wins the belt at HiaC. Now, if he answers the challenge and wins, we have babyface Ziggler chasing the belt for a few months, and it gives Breeze a chance to really show if he's ready.

Should be surprise in form of Baron Corbin; Tyler Breeze; Samoa Joe or Damien Sandow!

Could be. As redundant as the notion of one of the NXT guys taking the US belt appears, (it sounds a lot like Kevin Owens' first match with Cena) it might be a good way to go. Let the new kid break in with a bang.

But Ziggler? I hope not. If they put Dolph in there to take the belt, we'll wonder (for the 10,000th time) whether this is the start of a major push for him.....or if it's just another diversion in one man's eternal midcard career.

Its going to be Carlito returning to the WWE and he is going to beat John Cena for the US Title again just like he did on his initial debut....

Seriously though I have a feeling its either going to be Ambrose or Daniel Bryan challenging and then winning the title. Both of which are great options and with Cena out they could really fill that void on the babyface main event level.

It's going to be Finn Balor
Balor will beat Cena in a fantastic match for the US championship to become a dual champion then Cena will disappear.

Finn will eventually drop the NXT title to Joe who will eventually drop it to Crews if I had to predict the next few title changes.

First of all, Daniel Bryan would be a terrible choice. He obviously has proven to not be stable enough to hold a title for longer than 2 months. He shouldn't be given any title opportunities if he were to return.

With that said I think Ambrose or Breeze have the best chances at challenging and winning the title.

Ambrose- Rumored that he will be taking Cenas spot as one of the top Faces while Cena is out. This i feel will be his stepping stone and finally step out of the Wyatt Family feud.

Breeze- This seemed possible before he debuted on Smackdown and started a feud with Ziggler. I also am not convinced he is at the level to take the US title after all the credibility Cena has put in the title. Finn Balor on the other hand sounds more believeable.

I seriously like the idea of having Dean Ambrose winning a title it's just that he U.S. title he had before wasn't enough for his character and what he needs is a main title run against someone else like Sheamus. Speaking of Sheamus he is most likely going to verse Cena and win the title to push his character until the Royal Rumble or to the February pay per view where he would then fall into shambles. This would then send Sheamus into Wrestlmania or Extreme Rules looking for redemption in the form of a golden brief case. He would then cash in to whoever the champ would be at the time (maybe a newly crowned champ by the name Dean Ambrose or even a champ like Dolph Ziggler, NOT RANDY FUCKING ORTON OVERUSED STORYLINE BETWEEN HIM AND SHEAMUS). I would personally like seeing a lunatic Sheamus character (he is a lunatic or freak because of his appearance/in-ring emotions because of his past losses) verse an actual lunatic in Dean Ambrose. If Sheamus drops the title to Dean or Dolph we can see Sheamus join the Wyatts to create an ultra faction in which Dean would have to recreate the Shield in order to take down the faction. By the way at this time Seth has by then faced Tripple H lost because of a run in by a now heel Finn Balor or even Tyler Breeze. Either of them would then feud with Seth for one month and get a push that would send Seth down to the point where he would clawing and scratching his way back into the heart of the brothers that he wronged. And Roman Reigns would have pointless feuds or may be even have gotten a mouthpiece for his character (HOPEFULLY UNTILL HE GETS ACTING CLASSES), who could be Paul Heyman and which would promote the Shield as Paul Heyman guys. That's what I wanna see. John Cena can honestly take a break if he wanted to I wouldn't even care if that was the main event picture.

I personally am voting for Damian Sandow, simply because...where is he?

Daniel Bryan is another possibility and obviously Ziggler and Breeze are in the running. It shouldn't be Tyler Breeze though, as he could end up being another Rose or Fandango.

Its either going to be Bryan or Breeze. Dark house being Batista who is still under a two year deal. But those are the only 3 names who aren't on the WWE.com poll that are likely choices.

According to a report, there's a rumor that Daniel Bryan will be returning to action at HIAC tonight and that the most likely spot will be against Cena.

Wrestling reporter Scott Keith, who's the guy who broke the story of Cena taking time off to host a reality fitness program for Fox, claims he received an email that stated Bryan was on a flight to Los Angeles, which is where HIAC is happening from tonight.

According to the report, the person who allegedly send the email was on the flight, pretended that he didn't know who Bryan was, struck up a conversation with him and was told that he'd been cleared from a concussion and was going back to work this weekend.

As of right now, this is only a rumor, but it's one that has at least some plausibility to it. We haven't heard anything said about Bryan for a while now, which may have been purposely done just so his return felt more like a surprise. If Cena is taking the rest of the year off and is going to drop the title, then Bryan being his opponent, defeating him for the 2nd time in a championship match and all of it somehow leads to Cena being gone generates a lot of buzz, especially if the plan is for him to have a long title run heading into WrestleMania season.

I would love to see it be Samoa Joe. The guy has had a long and successful career, even though WWE hardly references a significant portion of it. I think he deserves a shot on the main roster, and I also think he deserves to hold some hardware along the way. I'm not so sure that he should be in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship picture yet (if ever). But a US title, or a IC title, or even a tag team title run, I think that would be well deserved and he would do an excellent job with it. I'm not sure how this jives with current NXT storylines, especially where NXT prerecords stuff. But seeing Samoa Joe pursue a mid card title on a WWE PPV, definitely works for me. Let's see how good he really is. Let's see if he is worthy of all of the hype that precedes him, even at this stage of his career. Let's see him prove it on the grandest stage of them all.

This could do wonders to dispel the ever present myth that WWE will only push guys that they produce themselves (boggles the mind that I still see this sentiment expressed periodically, despite all of the examples of guys who prove otherwise). Perhaps this could help lure other guys to the company from elsewhere, especially once the inevitable folding of TNA occurs. James Storm is in NXT now. Maybe he could be joined by his former tag team partner, or a potential new Dutchess of Dudleyville, or even some other Phenomenal guys who may feel that a jump to the big leagues would be a tremendous opportunity, if they were going to be treated correctly. And seeing Samoa Joe as a trailblazer in this regard, this could pay dividends for Joe himself, as well as those who may follow behind him.

I heard about Daniel Bryan and possibly returning tonight at HIAC, that could work have Daniel take the Title from John. While John is gone Daniel can pick up the slack since Randy is gone as well. If they are looking at the World Title for Daniel than I would say give Dolph a shot he already has a little something started with John when he kicked him in the face a couple of weeks ago. Out of left field go with Kurt Angle he is also in town I heard.

The whole card was surprising in that we didn't see guys like Bryan, Dolph Ziggler, Dean Ambrose or any NXT newcomers.

Instead, it was Albert Del Rio...and I admit that surprised the heck out of me. Didn't expect it at all.....and thoroughly enjoyed it.

My closed-captioning was going crazy after the good guy lost, too:

(audience chants) Cena sucks! Cena sucks!

Hope the guy enjoys his vacation. He can probably use it for more reasons than just resting his body.

Sheesh.
