Greatest Play Ever

Rhonda Rousey's Sports Bra

Kinda Sorta Old School
I seem to do alot of these threads but they're basic and haven't been done to my knowledge so here's another one.

With the death of Bobby Thomson today, may he rest in peace, it got me wondering what everyone thought was the greatest play ever. The Shot Heard 'Round The World was one of the greatest plays in baseball history, but I don't know if it's the greatest. Now greatest can have many definitions so let me know what your pick is and why you call it the greatest. Me, well I can't really think of anything right now, it's been a long day, but I ask you all what you think is the Greatest Play of All-Time?

The answer is pretty clear to me, the Immaculate Reception. The game was basically over, the Steelers were down and had a fourth and 10 around their own 35. It looks like it's going to be incomplete, and out of nowhere comes Franco Harris to make an absolutely ridiculous catch, giving the Steelers their first ever playoff victory and building the foundation for the dynasty in the years to come.

This is not necessarily the best play, but it is one of my all time favorite plays. I can’t believe I couldn’t find a decent video on YouTube. The play starts at about 2:20.

I was kind of on the Braves bandwagon back then so this was pretty cool. Game 7 of the LCS comes down to a play at the plate in the bottom of the ninth. It doesn’t get much better than that. There’s no doubt a walk off home run is dramatic and exciting, but once the ball is over the wall the play is over. Here we had a hit and a close play at the plate. Would he be safe or out? Great stuff. To make it even better we had a no name hitter driving in the slowest runner on the team. If anyone else was on base they would have easily been safe. That was such an exciting moment. Too bad that was the beginning of the Pirates downfall.

Forget lucky passes or a home run, this kind of thing is far better

If American football was played like this more often, it would be far more popular outside the USA

If it was played like that more it'd prob be considered a mutated form of rugby/america football.

Being in NZ i find it really hard with rugby to identify just one play as the greatest ever, cause there are always so many amazing and wonderfully worked tries that can be considered great for different reasons, distance travelled, intricacy of the move being done, number of people bumped off and others. But i did manage to find a highlight package of the june tests that the All Blacks played and it shows a bunch of different tries that can be considered great.

There's two that I'm gonna put in this thread, for reasons sentimental to me.

The game that saved my Spartans season and helped us advance to the sweet 16. We'd lost our PG and leader in the first half, and we had a colossal collapse late in the game to where we were actually gonna have to have a miracle. That is, until that shot, which looked like it wasn't even gonna work, since the big man running down the floor almost ran into the ball. However, the shot went in and we had another memorable run to the final four. One of my favorite moments of this year.

The perfect underdog story. Everyone thought that Boise wouldn't have a chance against the big and bad BCS power Oklahoma. For a while Boise was kicking the Sooner's asses, until a monumental collapse that, if they would've lost, would've proved to the critics that non-BCS teams couldn't compete with the big 6 teams. However, the hook and lateral and then the statue of liberty capped off a terrific game and a HUGE victory for David. It instantly gave Boise State national respect and I think it's fair to say that if they don't win that game they aren't even a thought as national title contenders this year.

This shit was fucking mind blowing when I saw it live. It's probably elevated in my mind due to the fact that I knew Tyree really wasn't that good of a receiver at all, I mean when did he do anything notable after this? Add to the fact that Manning somehow avoided that damn sack, and he came up with the strength to throw the perfect pass down field, and that catch by Tyree was like something out of a damn Disney movie.

I don't like the Giants at all, but this shit was just amazing.

Edit: Okay the video isn't appearing but im talking about David Tyree's amazing catch in the 4th quarter of Super Bowl 42 against the Patriots in case anyone couldn't figure it out.
