Great News, Setanta Will Soon Be Finished

In 18 months or so. They're allowed to show two Premiership games a week I believe. Only come next season they'll be down to one. They can't afford to show any more. Great news. Instead of offering an alternative to Sky Sports, they've just given people an extra ten quid or so to pay onto an already expensive monthly package.

It was supposed to make Sky drop their prices down, didn't work. Now they'll likely go busy. Most of the sport is football related and they'll soon be left with Bolton vs. Fulham like games on a Monday. Nobody will pay for that and UFC alone isn't going to save them.

Setanta won't go out of business because the Premiership can't let them. Without Shitanta, Sky would be breaking the monopolies comission guidelines on how much sport they can show. The BBC can't justify spending the money, and ITV is on its arse, so the leagueneed Setanta, otherwise Sky will offer them fuck all to show the matches, because they know that the other companies won't put up a better deal.

This is precisely what happened to the football league, when ITV Digital went bust. Nobody went into administration in football until that happened and Sky ended up paying a third of what they had been paying a year earlier for lower division games. The Premier League is the best league in the world right now, and the powers that be will do everything in their power to keep it that way, which includes giving Setanta some leeway with their finances.

Setanta is shit anyway. What, am I going to pay for one decent game a week? Already when Sky costs a lot? Fuck that. No-one liked Setanta, it offered nothing good, and it's a waste of money. Ah well, more games to Sky = more games to me. Can't lose to be honest.
