Dumb thread. Triple H and Steph 'tried their best' to get Roman Reigns over? YEAH RIGHT.
Oh God where to start here. If Stephanie coming out and telling 100k plus that they are basically a bunch of assholes, and the Authority are better than all of them, then eating a spear didn't work to turn the crowd, then please tell me what would have?
One fantastic way to get 'Reigns' over would be for him to have beaten a credible main eventer like Brock Lesnar. Not a 46 year old man whose booked himself to main event 9 Wrestlemanias too many..I know fans cheered when Reigns beat Paul but compared to any past Wrestlemania this was perhaps the absolute worst fan reaction to end a night. This is not Reigns' fault at all. It's Triple H's. Because Triple H leaves the audience indifferent. He 'believes' he's a fantastic heel and everyone wants to see him get his ass handed to him. But the truth is fans are simply sick of him. Not in a way that gets Reigns over. In a way that leaves everyone indifferent.
Reigns main evented last year against a heel Lesnar, and all he managed to do was turn Lesnar face. The man who broke the Undertaker's streak and was one of the most hated men in the WWE was made a face by the crowd response to Reigns. And yes it was the worst crowd reaction I've ever seen, didn't hear it mind you because the WWE took care of that, but saying HHH leaves people indifferent is bullshit. If you don't think that HHH is capable of main eventing anything, then you aren't a fan. This guy is a 14 time world champion and every night the audience wants to see him get his ass handed to him, well with the exception of last night. Don't forget this is also the guy who was cheered at the Rumble when he threw Reigns over the top rope.
So stop blaming others. Reigns doesn't connect with the audience, if he did then this problem wouldn't be happening. As a matter of fact, Reigns said himself before the match HHH was a fantastic in ring general and he felt a lot of the pressure taken off him because of that fact.
WWE forcefed us both of these guys. And the fans could care less. That main event is just another example of how WWE doesn't listen to their fans. Sure over 100,000 people showed up to a stadium that had 100,000 plus seating capacity. But those fans would have watched any main event. Nothing 'over the top' Stephanie does or the production team does can hide the fact that Triple H cannot carry an entertaining match.
HHH came out of semi-retirement to help put Reigns over, how is it you are not seeing this. Yes they would have watched any main event, but maybe it's not HHH that wasn't the problem last night. I can't believe I'm defending HHH here. Besides his match at Roadblock against Ambrose was 100 times better than last nights was.
The main event was atrocious. Half the match was just Triple H and Reigns throwing each other into the stairs or over the ropes or through barricades or tables. Just like ALL of Triple H's main event matches. This is all done to mask the fact that Triple H has little to no entertainment value. He's boring on the mic, he's boring in the ring. All he has is ring psychology, a great theme song and a talented wife.
HHH is one of the best talkers the WWE has, and pisses people off on a weekly basis. Again no one wants to see him get beat more than me, but he was the better man in that ring last night. He had to slow down the match at times, you could almost see the frustration on his face. And maybe the match played out the way it did because Reigns still doesn't have a ton of experience.
If WWE 'really' wanted to get Reigns 'over', they would have had him work a main event 'angle' with someone who is main event 'caliber'. Whether it was Undertaker, Rock, Brock, Wyatt, Jericho..It's horribly sad that WWE cannot create more amazing heels like Brock. All they've been able to create in the past 10 years is Triple H's buddies who are his 'friends' because of their low main event ceilings: Orton, Bautista, Sheamus etc.
They've been trying for two years, two years, to put Reigns over. He has taken on move of the wrestlers you suggested and it's still not working. Do you honestly think he would get cheered over the Rock in a match, or Undertaker.
You know seriously I don't think you watch on a weekly basis and see what happens. If you did you would know the Authority is the biggest heels there are right now, and if the biggest heels could do the job for Reigns, then what.
