Going Full Circle with Magnus?

[It's Damn Real!]

Currently dominating the Bound For Glory series, Magnus is at this point something of a lock for the final four of the series, but the real question is — will TNA go full circle with him the way they did with Hardy last year (completing his redemption angle), or the way they didn't (at least not right away) the year prior?

Roode, as you'll remember, ended up losing in the main event at Bound For Glory to Kurt Angle when many felt that the build up was enough to warrant having him win as the face in the match. Similar fate for Magnus, or does he start a trend following up on Hardy's run last year?

Personally, much as I'm loving how much he's dominating the series early on like this, as it's a great way to finally build some momentum for him, I don't see a World Champion there yet. He'll get his shot, no doubt, but to me there are better routes to be taken with Styles or Joe.

I have one possible scenario that popped in my head, as I watched Impact the other night. Perhaps they could have Magnus ride this huge wave of momentum (leader of the BFG Series, member of the MEM-with personal endorsements from Kurt Angle and Sting) all the way to the finale, say at Impact a month prior to Bound For Glory (since No Surrender is no more).

While this is going on, someone else in the Series is slowly catching up to him (let's say AJ Styles, or Jeff Hardy, since either has a good claim to a match with Bully).

It all comes down to that Impact taping a month away from BFG. The winner of Magnus and the #2 man will go on to win the Series and head to BFG to face Bully. I say the #2 man beats Magnus, giving him the credibility of having beaten the unquestionable leader of the BFG Series throughout its entirety. And, at the same time, you have already built up Magnus by having him dominate the Series for this long.

So at the end, there will have been two guys built up for the future, Magnus and the #2 guy. Honestly, I don't think Magnus is ready for a World Title spot...but stranger things have happened. That's just a theory that I have.

Magnus has the tools to get to the title. But like IDR said I don't see it happening too soon. It makes me wonder if they're gonna have him go Roode's route like in 2011. Though Magnus has a commanding lead, there's still time for guys like Joe and Styles to catch up. But I do lie what I'm seeing so far.

Personally, I feel that he'll probably face Anderson instead. I doubt he'll win the Series. All signs still point to AJ in my book and Magnus is probably just on the start of his push. We know TNA loves to make long angles and I just sincerely doubt they'll give up on the one they've clearly set up for AJ. No title shots until BFG '13? New gimmick? New finishing move with a reference to the current Champ? I just don't see them skipping on that.

Hopefully Magnus still plays a major role in the end of the Aces though, since he's been the butt of three attacks already and has never been able to get back at them. If TNA would've stayed the course with the TV title like they were last year with Joe and Magnus, him winning it this year would be perfect. But of course they had to give it to Devon and derail what little Midcard value the belt had. Who knows. Maybe they'll try again this year and finally get it right.

Am I the only one not on the Magnus bandwagon yet? Sure, he's young and maybe has an upside, but I'm not sure if I want to see Bully Ray vs. Magnus at BFG. It's a shame they let Doug Williams go as he was the best member of the British Invasion. Then again, a lot of the IWC would probably say he's too old because if you're anywhere near 40, you're a senior citizen.

Magnus is what....26? He has plenty of time and they don't need to rush him to the main-event picture. Why is he in the MEM again?

I think they should let Mr. Anderson catch up with Magnus in the leaderboard. This would create dissension in Aces and Eights and could lead to an Anderson face turn. (Give it time though. Without Anderson, the only big names they have are Bully Ray and D-Von.) Hell, maybe he'd get the title run he should've gotten a couple years ago.

I'm thinking this, or something very similar is what is already planned. And that #2 guy has got to be AJ Styles. To have Styles not win the BFG Series and go on and face/beat Bully Ray would completely ruin the long term booking and storytelling they've done with that scenario.

Magnus has already started a great push, and to lead the BFG Series and just happen to lose one of the final four matches would not hurt his push at all. Besides, let's say Magnus beats Anderson to face Styles in the final match to determine the winner, having something as simple as Anderson interferring in that match causing AJ to win would even protect him. My only issue with that is then that makes Styles look weak. Though Styles can get that back simply by beating Bully Ray at BFG.

I really do like Magnus' push so far, and hope they don't screw it up, but I would rather them not further his push at the expense of AJ Styles' storyline. It's been built up very well.

I would much rather have Magnus be the one to de-throne Bully Ray and strike that first major blow to A&8's than A.J. Styles. And yes, I will go back to what I have said in MANY previous threads on the subject.

1) TNA is at a point to where they need to figure something new out with their card. At this point, with the ratings the way they are, it certainly couldn't hurt TOO bad to finally have a new face holding the WHC.

2) Do we REALLY want a tweener being the one to strike that haymaker against the A&8's? What happened to having a real babyface be the one to hit the super-stable the hardest? I would like to be able to cheer for a white knight destroying the forces of evil, not some anti-hero with an angst complex. The 90's are over, so let's actually let evil be defeated by good here.

3) Magnus could be one of the VERY few people to go over to the 'E and have a relatively successful career. He's still young but has a metric shit ton of ring experience, which is EXACTLY what the 'E is looking for right now. Not to mention the guy has a fantastic look, and given time could get to be a solid mic worker too.
