Getting Into MMA.

Ferbian

Has Returned.
This for the MMA guys. I wanna get into watching proper MMA. Actually getting some proper knowledge about it.

So I'm wondering. Seeing as I don't have access to UFC and such on television. Much less the Pay Per Views - How do I get to watch it properly (Of course this is not a request to live streams or places to download them. I'm talking like reading material. Clips (Great youtube channels or Dailymotion channels). Or any other recommendation to how I could get a proper aspect of it.

Yeah I know he's the undisputed champion. Not completely lost. But Quinton Jackson and Brock Lesnar are the only 2 I know even a remote bit about. And some small bits of some of the Ultimate Fighter matches from UFC Undisputed 2010.

I think the key is simply finding a couple of fighters you can find to support. Fighters who just instantly strike you as someone you'd like. I'm not sure your taste, but there are plenty of fighters out there who you can just type on youtube and come across great highlights of.

Also, I know Sly and Cookie both really got into the sport with The Ultimate Fighter reality series. That's another great place to start, because you get to learn about so many fighters that are still very popular/relevant today in the sport.

The one that I've already gotten impressed with is definitely Rampage. He seems brutal but also entertaining. The closest thing to what could make it in the WWE as a wrestler (With perhaps exception of Brock who actually did it).

I would suggest watching any of the UFC replays on Spike. Obviously, some fights are better then others but it would allow you to see various fights you may have never seen and to watch some of the more important fights, a lot of the time it isn't the bad ones as well.

Brock Lesnar, thats all you need to know

BADDEST MAN ON THE PLANET!

Yeah I saw that. That wasn't really that impressive. But from what I heard Shane is a beast at brawling. Something tells me had Brock never gotten Shane down for that arm triangle he would've been screwed.

All Brock had to do was get through the first round. There's no way Carwin could've punched that much without wearing himself out. Lesnar was taking some heavy shots, but he was still fresh going into the second round. And considering Carwin has never even been in a second round of a match, it was Lesnar's from there on.

JMT had the best advice here. You can like the sport and be incredibly entertained by it, but once you get to know those couple of fighters that get you so stoked for a fight, that's when you start to love it. The hard part is finding a way to gain knowledge on fighters. If you have the funds, I would suggest buying UFC's Greatest 100 Fights set. It's not perfect by no means, but it's an excellent showcase of legends and middle tier fighters. You get to see some of the best fights from the well known guys like Liddell, Couture, Hughes, Silva. Then you also are introduced to the exciting supporting cast like Fisher, Lytle, Guida and others.

Other than that you can honestly just Google fighters and a lot of the time you'll find some of their fights. There is always Unleashed on Spike and they often counter program other organizations cards by replaying a big card of their own from a couple of months ago. Sure it's old fights, but they usuall don't re-air the bad ones. I'm not sure if they're still airing the Best of Pride but check that out for sure if they are. It's not only a great history lesson on some of the greatest fighters in history, but there are different rules in Pride so the violence sometimes exceeded the UFC's.

Yeah I've been using google as well. Only way I really got any form of knowledge towards Rampage. I thank you all for the advices and help. Really means a lot.

Essential cards you should get your hands on... PM me for help ;). I'm going to keep it to just UFC for now, for ease of access. It's a lot harder to find PRIDE stuff.

-Basically this entire card

2.) UFC 52
-Liddell vs. Couture II
-Hughes vs. Trigg II - Considered one of Dana White's favorite fights
-A young GSP vs. a young Mayhem Miller
-Exciting submission finishes

3.) UFC 100
-Lesnar vs. Mir II
-GSP vs. Alves
-Henderson vs. Bisping

4.) UFC 84
-Penn vs. Sherk - LW Title
-Wanderlei vs. Jardine
-Ortiz vs. Machida

5.) UFC 94
-GSP vs. BJ Penn II
-Lyoto Machida vs. Thiago Silva
-Jones vs. Bonnar
-Guida vs. Diaz

6.) UFC 92
-Griffin vs. Evans - LHW Title
-Mir vs. Nogueira - HW Title
-Rampage vs. Wanderlei III

7.) UFC 66
-Liddell vs. Ortiz II
-Griffin vs. Jardine
-Everything ends by stoppage

8.) UFC 79
-GSP vs. Hughes - Interim WW Title
-Liddell vs. Wanderlei - #2 UFC fight of all time
-Machida vs. Sokoudjou

9.) UFC 34
-Hughes vs. Newton - WW Title
-Couture vs. Rizzo
-Penn vs. Uno
-Mir's debut

10.) UFC 40
-Ortiz vs. Shamrock
-Liddell vs. Babalu
-Just a fun and exciting card.

Other cards worth watching:
UFC 75
UFC 101
UFC 104
UFC 110

Fights (off the top of my head) I'd make sure I'd watch:
Forrest Griffin vs. Stephan Bonnar
Both Shogun vs. Machida fights
Clay Guida vs. Diego Sanchez
Chan Sung Jung vs. Leonard Garcia
Lesnar vs. Mir I
Rampage Jackson vs. Forrest Griffin
Both Anderson Silva vs. Rich Franklin fights
Lyoto Machida vs. Rashad Evans

Forrest Griffin is a lovable guy, definatly watch him vs Stephan Bonner. If you want to get on a Hype train before he gets the title shot look up Jon "Bones" Jones. BJ Penn is always a fun guy to watch. Lesnar obviously. Chris Leban. All good places to start.
