Get on my podcast - What are your 8 least favourite songs?

Turn Bayley heel
I'm going to be doing podcasts called Three Mile Island Discs, and if anyone's list is good enough, they will be on there:

Rules:

1) You must have a reason beyond 'it's shit' (though you needn't put that here, I'll ask you)
2) They must be songs that are not objectively awful
3) I have to be able to easily listen to it.

My list, as a guide:

Strangers in the Night by Frank Sinatra
Let's Dance by David Bowie
Thriller by Michael Jackson
Cupid's Chokehold by Gym Class Heroes
Smack That by Akon ft. Eminem
Memories by the cast of Cats
Dancing in the Moonlight by Toploader
Out of my Mind by Trusteppas featuring Dane Bowers and Victoria Beckham

I haven't a list of my own, but I'll certainly listen to you justify your choices.

Hotel California by The Eagles
Don't Stop Believing by Journey
Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen
Black Skinhead by Kanye West
Good Riddance by Green Day
Tom Sawyer by Rush
In the Air Tonight by Phil Collins
Purple Stain by Red Hot Chili Peppers

For the record, I really enjoy (and in some cases absolutely love) half of the bands I selected.

Are you sure you read the question correctly JGlass?

8 least favorite songs. I hate those 8 songs.

Don't get me wrong, it's not my place to second guess your musical taste (or apparent lack thereof), but it is incomprehensible to me how 5/8 of those songs could end up on a "worst of" list for anyone.

That's the point though. Anybody can write a list that is like:

Nicki Minaj
Nicki Minaj
Brooke Hogan
etc.

The point is to pick songs that a lot of people like and to justify why you've included them.

I have unique taste in music. I recognize a couple of the songs on that list are actually pretty good songs, they just drive me crazy. Most of them are overrated pieces of shit though.

Not too easy but I'll give it a try:

John Lennon - Imagine
50 cent - Candy Shop
Christina Aguilera - Beautiful
Queen - I want to break free
Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Give it away
Scissor Sisters - Filthy Gorgeous/I don't feel like dancing
Guns 'n' Roses - Sweet Child o' mine
The Beatles - I am the Walrus.

While three of JGlass' list would appear on a list of my favourite songs ever, I can completely understand how they could be considered annoying. Because of that, I go out of my way to not list to them as overexposure is is a sure fire way to turn me off even a song that I love.

I would imagine that my list would conjure up plenty of similar incredulity.

I run a karaoke business.

These songs are entire too long and jammy, nobody ever sings them right, I hear them way fucking too much, they bore the shit out of me, and I hate them.

Lynyrd Skynyrd - Freebird
Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven
Don McLean - American Pie
Led Zeppelin - Ramble On

These songs are overrated, repetitive trash trash that I legitimately think is outdone by modern mainstream music.

Johnny Cash - Folsom Prison Blues
Neil Diamond - Sweet Caroline
Journey - Don't Stop Believing
Toby Keith - Red Solo Cup

Special mention goes for a few of these overrated girl songs that I hear every single day of my life:

Joan Jett - I Love Rock & Roll
Miranda Lambert - Gunpowder & Lead
Carrie Underwood - Before He Cheats
Alannah Myles - Black Velvet

And finally, I've banned Bohemian Rhapsody from ever being sung at my regular shows. I make exceptions for my one-shot shows.

I could really have chosen any song from the vast majority of these artists.

Prince - Purple Rain
U2 - With or Without You
Guns N Roses - Sweet Child o' Mine
Bon Jovi - Livin' On A Prayer
Bruce Springsteen - The River
Whitney Houston - I Will Always Love You
Amy Winehouse - Rehab
Bryan Adams - Everything I Do (I Do It For You)

A couple appear for the crime of being overplayed, some for being performed by criminally overrated artists, some for their social commentary/political stances (which I hate from musicians, especially those incredibly rich ones who tell everyone else to give to charity and yet try their best to avoid tax) and some for getting so caught up in their own perceived greatness that they try their absolute utmost to show off. Some on my list I perceive as guilty of more than one of these crimes.

Rock Star* - Nickelback
Your Body is a Wonderland - John Mayer
Lollipop - Lil Wayne
Rock Your Body - Justin Timberlake
God Bless the USA - Lee Greenwood
Run It - Chris Brown
Don't Stop Believing - Journey
Girls Girls Girls - Motley Crue

*Interchangeable with 99% of Nickelback's material.

There is at least one song off every single list here that's a damn good song.

All of you have horrible taste.

Bon Jovi is possibly the most overrated musician from the states of all time, and that's coming from somebody born and raised in New Jersey.

Billy Joel gives him a run for his money, though.
