Yeah I was kind of bummed by Anya's fate when the show ends, she deserved better but I guess Joss just wanted to have one character who we had grown to care about over the years die in the finale besides Spike. I do not understand why they ever split Anya and Xander up to begin with.
Yeah, I saw in the special features Joss say that he always wanted to have one big epic final battle where a main character would die just like how an extra usually would.
I HATE how they just almost wrote off Willow all season long. And the introduction of the Kennedy character pretty much ruined it for the rest of the season. I kind of always wanted Willow and Xander to wind up together at the end because I mean fuck their love was the only thing that stopped Willow from destroying the world in Season 6.
Season 6 I LOVED though. Season 7 I'm not sure right now, loved alot of it but hated some of the decisions/characters etcs.
I hated Season 6 actually way more than I did 7, lol. I thought the Willow transformation was awesome for the 1 episode she gets revenge on Warren. However, when it turned to Willow then wanting to destroy the World... I mean, give me a break here, lol. The Season 6 finale should have been the episode where Willow skinned Warren and the season should have ended right then and there, with the normal Willow coming back, feeling horrible for what she did, etc. But they just took it too far, in my opinion. I also hated how Dawn all of the sudden was able to fight off those tree thingys. That would have made sense if Dawn turned out to be a potential like it was teased in season 7, but since she's just a normal girl, that was fucking lame.
I just hated Season 6, man. I didn't like the villains, Giles leaving was stupid, the way Buffy came back was lame, Spike trying to rape Buffy sucked (honestly, if it were up to me, those two would have never hooked up in the first place)... I just didn't like anything, to be honest, except for the musical and the episode Willow skinned Warren.
I also thought we got jipped when we didn't get to see what happened when Buffy and Angel saw each other once Buffy returned from her death.
Speaking of which, I thought Season 5 should have ended with Dawn dying, and then Season 6 focus on Buffy not having any family and her trying to live with that, putting her in a vulnerable place. I think that would have been much better than the notion of her being in heaven and then being forced back down to take care of everybody.
I just finished it before writing this post. I don't think it was that bad at all man, I liked it actually. I didn't particularly like where some of the characters ended up, but the culmination of Spike's redemption and his Christ-like sacrifice to save the world just rewarded all of my time spent caring about his character. The Buffy-Spike arc is without a doubt my favorite part of the entire series. Unlike Angel who was cursed with his soul, Spike actually went out and fought for one to make himself a better being for Buffy. It's the best example of redemption I have ever seen, Spike endured heartache in his original natural life only to become a monster for a century before he found love with Buffy, and that love is what fueled him to be a better person (or vampire), get a soul and become a champion. The fact that he was still willing and did sacrifice himself to save the world shows just how far as a character Spike has traveled. From primal force of evil to a primal force of good. It's almost biblical.
Let me tell you why I didn't like it. Two reasons, really.
Those ultimate vamp guys all of the sudden became that easy to defeat, when Buffy fought her ass off just to destroy one earlier in the season in one of the best moments during season 7? That made no sense.
Also, and this is exactly why I hate Xander... why the fuck is Xander standing there cracking jokes, when just 2 seconds before he found out the love of his life (Ayna) died in battle? Shouldn't he be, like, distraught or something?
I hated how it ended, man. Hated it.
SO has anyone read any of the Season 8 comics?
I haven't read the comics, but I have read the full wiki descriptions man, and it's not good. Dawn becomes a giant, then when she's back to normal her and Xander start dating. Buffy learns to fly. Angel is the ultimate good guy and bad guy. Spike comes out of nowhere on a yellow submarine with the answers to everyone's problems. Spike, Angel, and Buffy have a three-way... seriously, man, from everything I've read about it, the comics are a fucking joke. It looks more like fan fiction than something Whedon would actually write.
