Im not a fan of MMA/UFC. People always give me the "Oh wrestling is fake, its for *****es, MMA or UFC is where the real men fight". Well whats so great about beating the hell out of someone as opposed to making it look artisitc? It takes a lot more skill to be able to jump off a 15 foot ladder without hurting someone that hurting them, then it does to put in an armbar. I really think Wrestling is a lot more humane than MMA, and thus feel more civilized watching it. An advantage of Wrestling over MMA... there is no way that someone is gonig to fix it, so if you are let down after a wrestling event, its because thats how the writers made it.
If you can't see the art in grappling or have no clue how technical striking is, I'd suggest sticking to your rasslin, it's easier to understand and you don't really have to think about what you're seeing since it's all the same anyway. I also like MMA since it actually respects female competition rather than burying it, and also seeing mutli-racial champions/competition makes me feel more "Civilised" (not that wrestling isn't multinational but the last time I saw a WWE champion that wasn't white was 4 years ago, Eddie Guerrero and 2 years between him and 'Rock' who's almost white anyway other then that it's yoko back in '93 and Inoki in '79) I also like to KNOW that my competitions are drug free, I dunno bout everyone else, but where I come from people who do steroids are "losers" since they don't have the physical/mental discipline to attain their builds. Unlike in wrestling, where their drug screening is as real as what you're watching in the ring. Also if your idea of civilisation is whipping a dwarf with a belt, I'm happy being a barbaric "un"civilised MMA fan thank you.
@Kasey
Yea I love them PRIDE rules

can't just sit in guard, like when ufc had headbutts and dudes had to mad scramble since being on the bottom was basically instant death. I miss em.
After reading your post I remembered that Cro Cop never trains in cages, so that was my bad. Hopefully we'll get to see him in dream versus some good competition although if he's really fighting Yoshihiro Nakao we may have to wait longer. I like mirko, I just hate his unwillingness to even attempt ground work, at least heath can "posture up" (or hit the old north south) on a guy, while the closest to the ground mirko gets is takedown defense. I'm forced to agree with the groudwork too, if Herring is going to one day pick up the championship he's going to need that BJJ black belt, although I'm fine with him jus tearing through midcarders
Man were you as pissed as I was when you saw that Hendo match? right after I pooped in my PRIDE dvd of Hendo vs. Nog and the whole time I'm thinking, man 8 seconds longer and he'd got out...haha ah well can't win em all.
And Anderson is a machine, no question, that body triangle is absolutely devastating.

Rashad versus Chuck, all this is is a fight 'given' to Chuck (they expect him to win) so he can be thrown back into the cage with rampage. I'm mildly interested in this simply because I've seen rashad throw more kicks in the recent past then Chuck, and that was the road to victory for Jardine. Chuck will probably get a late KO, but if it goes the distance, which could easily happen (out of 12 fights 7 decisions

for Rashad), I see "Sugar" taking the fight if he throws those liver/leg kicks. (I don't see a takedown from Rashad, Chuck has a Epic sprawl) Also if Chuck wins he'll probably get throw into contention right away which he definetly does not deserve (can you say Machida?)
I agree with Slim Pickns too, this is definetly not main event worthy, it's Iceman so it's gotta be top billing, but they should've throw this as the "Co-Main-Event" and given us a main event worth a piss. I'm less then pumped about 85 unless they can throw in some sick prelims and midcard matches...

If you like the UFC by all means grab some of their DVDS, I wouldn't suggest TUF as those guys are usually "Journeymen" (Fighters just gettin their sea legs in american television) and aren't usually that great a fighters. (Most of the top talent UFC pulls in are from other MMA promotions so watching these usually provides with better balanced/more entertaining matches) If you're really into MMA and want to know all about it and watch awesome fighters in their prime get the PRIDE legacy Volumes. There you can see why everyone thinks fedor is the man and the Wanderlai DOMINATIONS. I actually haven't bought a UFC dvd yet, haven't seen anything worth shelling out 20-50 dollars for. I do however have a old UFC 10 VHS which is just classic (and if you just saw the newest UFC and don't know who Mark Coleman is, that's his debut) and UFC 20 which is also up there (Dan Henderson debut, goes on to fight Carlos Newton, awesome match) But anyways, I'd suggest the PRIDE legacy volumes, but take a gander, shop around.
Also Just though I'd throw these old gems out there. Any of you watch K-1? either the straight Kickboxing or HEROES? Most of the time I get these in full Japanese/Korena so I understand nothing, but the fighters/fights are pretty badass (Ever seen Semy Shilt not have to worry about groundwork? It's scary shit)
By the by, anyone ever heard of, Norifumi "Kid" Yamamoto? I'm dieing to see this guy and Urijah Faber go at it, it's never going to happen, but it would be epic. Urijah is just a bad dude, and Kid is on a 14 win streak (only 2 decisions in that mix) with most of his fights coming from either TKo or KO

. Anyone else wetting the bed thinkin of these guys serving up hooks to each other? Or is it all in my head?
Oh on a completely different note, anyone wanna make up a p4p list? Be great for debatin, would this be somethin people would be interested in?
