Future of Pro Wrestling?

Okay. It's been going on for over a month now. This being my first post, I feel it's fair that I don't hold back with how I feel about this so-called ECW.

First off; It's a disgrace to ECW and what it stood for. Raven and Todd Gordon have said this and their right. You can't re-start the revolution. Big Show holding that world title is an insult to every single guy that wrestled for ECW in it's true form. I'm including with that the guys that are no longer with us, god rest their souls. Guys like Terry 'Bam Bam' Gordy, 'Hotstuff' Eddie Gilbert, Brian Pillman, The Public Enemy, Pitbull #2, and Chris Candido. The Big Show holding on to that belt and I don't care what RVD did, is an insult and brings nothing but dishonor to what it stood for and to the guys that put their bodies on the line for that company. This shows further proof that the WWE and ANYTHING it touches has become old, stale, boring and flat out painful to watch. Rhino, The Dudley Boyz (And yeah I know they're called Team 3-D but what's Vince gonna do, Sue me?) Vinny Mac who was once a pioneer with pro wrestling has now become nothing less than a cancer. And the same fans he tends to censor and shun away and by that I'm talking about the real ECW fans, are the ones that have the guts to say that we don't want to watch this same old tired garbage. That we want ECW as it was. None of this "Extreme Rules" when we all know that ECW was nothing but Extreme. I don't care what the ratings say. Vince's abomination that he calls ECW will not succeed. With Vince McMahon, pro wrestling itself HAS no future.

However, in the months I've watched TNA, I look at it as not a joke and place for WWE/WCW outcasts but the future of wrestling. Because they are innovative. Because they do moves that the WWE won't have the guts to try. And the X Division to me shows that pro wrestling still does exist without all of that soap opera dribble. Just the entire roster shows promise that we may be witnessing the evolution of pro wrestling. Guys like AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, Samoa Joe, Chris Sabin, Sonjay Dutt, Ron Killings, Christian Cage, etc. All of these guys and more are guys that the WWE wouldn't even raise an eyebrow to. It's just pleasant knowing that pro wrestling organizations can actually still listen to the fans. Vince wouldn't know how to do that if it reached up and sucker punched him.

Bottom line, TNA is the evolution and future of pro wrestling. The WWE in it's current state along with the seudo-ECW, is nothing more than the damnation, destruction, and all in all end of pro wrestling.

The future of pro wrestling is an "adult brand" of wrestling on HBO or something. Imagine uncensored storylines, language, and violence. That would make the old ECW look like looney tunes in comparison.

I respect your opinions you've stated, but believe what you want to believe, but Tod Gordon can say what he wants to say and it will still mean nothing. Yeah, Tod Gordon created Eastern Championship Wrestling, but he never gave two shits about ECW. He gave up on ECW pretty quickly. He started it up in 1992 and sold it to Paul Heyman in 1996. 4 years only? He could careless about ECW. Tod Gordon only started caring when Vince McMahon started making money off the ECW name. It takes Tod Gordon, what?5 years after ECW went out of business to try to get the video library of Eastern Championship Wrestling. Way too late, by the way good luck on your retrial to try to obtain ECW's video library. I know Paul Heyman eventually fired Tod Gordon, but where was Tod Gordon towards the end of ECW, if he cared so much? He still could of showed some support towards the company, but no he didn't do anything. So, as far as Tod Gordon goes I don't feel bad for him one bit, but I do feel bad for the ECW fans that stuck around from day 1, Paul Heyman, Tommy Dreamer, Rob Van Dam, Rhyno, Joey Styles, Sandman, C.W. Anderson, Bill Alfonso, Full Blooded Italians, Spike Dudley, Balls Mahoney, Sabu, and a few others who remained loyal to ECW and didn't go else where when they could of. Raven and the Dudley Boyz had great matches in ECW and all the memories will always be there, but you know what? They still sold out to go to a bigger company.

As far as the ECW product goes, you should know already that ECW will never be what it once was no matter how the product is shown. The original ECW was a once and a life time promotion and it can never be re-created to what it once was. Whether Vince McMahon has full control or Paul Heyman has full control it still won't be the same. You should already know by now Vince McMahon isn't trying to get back the old ECW fans. He's going to make it look more like Raw or Smackdown, because he had success with both of them. You shouldn't take any shame in the ECW name. If you were an original ECW fan, then you should know great things don't last forever. Just because the ECW name is being used doesn't mean that the product will be tarnished. What really matters is the memories of the original ECW and how great is was to see it before your eyes. If you keep the memories alive of the original ECW, it will live forever and will still be talked about in the future in many generations to come.

I see your frustrations in the new WWE-ECW and you have the right just like any other ECW fan, but what did you expect to see when you heard ECW was coming back? I wasn't that excited, because I knew for a fact that I wouldn't get the same feeling I once got when I attended house shows, and Pay Per Views at ECW Arena. Once ECW ended in 2001 I knew it was goodbye forever. No matter how many times people try to re-create ECW that it won't ever be able to be re-created. The only good thing I see out of the new ECW is that Paul Heyman, Tommy Dreamer, Rob Van Dam, Sabu, etc... are trying to keep the ECW name alive and want to see it succeed no matter how different it is and I respect them for that. I don't agree on some of the product we see on Sci Fi, but if it wasn't for Paul Heyman, Tommy Dreamer, Rob Van Dam, Sabu, Sandman and countless others we would of never got to one of the best wrestling promotions ever created.

I thank Paul Heyman for his creative genius, but hes also part of the reason that we saw the death of ECW. He was great on the booking part, but lacked in the business department which led to ECW's bankruptcy. I think Paul Heyman should of made a choice when he saw that ECW was losing money and either hired someone or had some other person/company take part ownership and handled the business side of ECW and it might of also helped ECW with finicial back, so they wouldn't of ended up going bankrupt. As long as the product remained the same and Paul Heyman still had part ownership and full booking control, then thats all we could of asked for.

Oh, and I would take ECW from 1992-2001 over TNA any day. =-)

Okay. Let me get this across.

1) Vince wanted ECW to be like Raw or Smackdown. Well THAT is the problem.

2) We don't want any stupid imported main eventers. We want OUR main eventers.

3) I didn't expect it to be exactly the same as ECW considering some guys are not in it. But I expected it to at least have the same rules of ECW and not be this watered down tripe that we have seen.

4) Guys like Todd Gordon (Regardless of what happened and his views), Raven and Shane Douglas have every right to bash this so called ECW.

And to add to MY opinion of this whole thing, all Vince McMahon has done is rape the legacy of ECW. I much would have rather it not come back at all then be run by this brainless, senial arrogant blowhard.
