FromtheThread

I was responding to the picture. Not you. I didn't even realize it was you who posted it until just now.

And I responded to your response, but I didn't quote you.

Here it is:

It's funny you say that, FTS, as I am extremely religious. I was not mocking the pious (because to do that would be mocking myself), rather I was mocking the hypocrisy of the Crusades.

You aren't somebody that believes it's okay to be prejudice against an ethnicity or sexual preferrence because they were ''from a different time'' right?

No. I am someone who believes that the Crusades were about two sides fighting over land. That's how they did things back then. Who are we to say that it was wrong. Both sides felt they were fighting for God.

Gotcha, just making sure. I hate when people act like racism is somewhat more acceptable because how/when/where people were raised.

They were fighting in the name of Christianity, which is where the hypocrisy lies. Christianity is about love and tolerance, not fighting.

I see where you are coming from Doc, but I really don't think that's what most religions are about. Maybe what they're supposed to be about, but not how they are now. Shouldn't everything be about love and tolerance? Why do we need organized groups to tell us these things? Christianity to me has been more about do's and don't and issuing damnation then focusing on love and tolerance. There, i've said my peace. I won't bring this into one of the most entertaining threads we have. Carry on.

It's how it is.

It's not how it should be.

The public has an extremely negative view of Christianity for a good reason: The vocal majority of Christians are fucktarded and intolerant.

Christianity is supposed to be about believeing in the holy Trinity and the teachings of Jesus. However, you don't need to be Christian to be moral. It's not for everyone.

I like Christianity because it gives me some good tips on how to live my life and it's comforting to think that there is a higher power up there.

Can I ask you guys a completely hypothetical question, and you promise not to freak out? It's just always something I've wondered. I think a lot.

What would you do if you found out the entire bible was a fabricated story?

Nothing. Just because the text is fabricated will not make it any less of impactful in my life. In my 20 years on this world, one of the few things that ever stuck was: Learn the message behind the words, not the words in front of the message. My moral compass will not be any shaken and/or fortified if I find out that the bible was a fabricated story.
