Fortune getting no respect?

The Shockmaster

Pre-Show Stalwart
Last night i was watching impact eagerly awaiting Ric Flairs announcement of the first two members of Fortune. Granted I already knew that AJ and Kaz were going to be these first two members due to there win at victory road I still couldn't wait to see a good Flair promo. During the second hour they gave Flair a backstage promo hyping up how is new group would change TNA and all that but when it came time for this announcement it wasn't the big event that i thought it would be.

The induction started out fine but then Desmond Wolfe came out. I figured this would happen so i wasn't quite shocked. Even though him coming out spoiled the moment it didnt quite kill it. But then after i don't know(maybe 2 minutes) Abyss comes out and chases them out of the ring to bring up his own business with RVD killing the stables chance to shine.

This really pissed me off. First Ric Flair announces this group probably if not more than a month ago. It takes forever for him to name a member and then when it happens TNA creative basically passes them over. They gave them about the time of a commercial break to announce what was suppose to be the biggest thing in TNA history.

I know they were trying to finally get the ball rolling on the ECW angle but they also had way to much going on last night. Overbooked was and understatement and there was to many gimmick matches(I quit, street fight, ladder match). Not to mention this new Nash thing. This has Russo written all over it and im not hating but he seriously overdosed on creative pills last night. If they scrapped a match such as the Lethal/Hardy it would of made ample time to get a good promo on the part of Flair/Kaz/AJ without hurting anyone elses story lines.

So questions

Does anyone else feel Fortune got passed over last night as just another regular storyline?

Do you feel that fortune should get a respectable amount of t.v. time each week do to the fact that they are suppose to be the next best thing in TNA?

side Question

If you could of scrap a segment or match from last night to make room for a decent fortune promo which one would it be?

Passed over? Eh, I don't see it that way. How much can you really hype what you've already hyped for weeks anyway? He did his job – he introduced the first two members. They cheered, had a small ruffle in their feathers when Wolfe came down and were cleared by Abyss' rage – didn't really bother me that much. I'm sure we'll here plenty from it moving forward, anyway.

As for whether or not they deserve more TV time, yes, they do – when they have the entire group actually together. Right now there are only two members – two left to go before that becomes necessary.

As for the segment I'd have scrapped, easily the Sarita/Wilde match/altercation.

Anything associated with Flair gets disrespected. He's basically a joke in TNA. Reminds me of his final years in WCW. Funny how any time Hogan is around Flair or anyone associated with Flair gets abused. But he's getting paid so I'm sure he doesn't care.

He was actually treated with more respect in WWE.

It's another situation of not allowing something with great oppurtunity to be made to look like it in fact has oppurtunity. But then again it invovled AJ so you know they would figure some way to mess it up. I don't know why AJ continually gets made to look like a joke or someone who needs someone else's help/advice to even get up in the morning. It's wy his last run with the title was seen as really nothing special. I'm hoping that thy push Fortune pretty well because it could be a great faction if done right.

If Fortune is going to become a big deal in TNA, they're going to need to give them some legit time, and not make their segments so sloppy or cut them short so guys like Abyss can have more mic time. It's early though, and the ECW thing was kind of a big deal, so I'll cut them a break just this once. :) Though if they knew the main event segment was going to be such a big deal, they should have had Fortune do their thing in the middle of the show and given them some good time. It wouldn't have looked so rushed and they could have given them some time to organize the whole deal with Desmond Wolfe.

I think Fortune is going to be a good and entertaining part of TNA for some time, but they really need to focus and make sure they're giving Flair time to do what he does best...manage and be the mouthpiece. They could also have a tryout of some sorts to decide who the next member is. Maybe they could have Matt Morgan and Desmond Wolfe go at it with the winner getting the push into the group. Right now they're the only two that are interested in joining, but I'm really not looking for a Four Horseman remake if it's comprised of AJ Styles, Kazarian, Desmond Wolfe, and Matt Morgan. Honestly, just...not Morgan. Nothing personal, I just don't want him anywhere near the group.

It's one time. Trust me. Things will get a lot better next week for Fortune. iMPACT! was very overbooked this week, so I think it was for the best to just have a small promo rather and a big cluttered up one that in the end would'nt made sense. In the small time they were in the ring, AJ and Kaz were officially announced as members of Fortune, Desmond came down and said he deserved to be part of the group as well and then they left as Abyss walked in. Setting things up for next week in the short time they had. For what they had for airtime, they did what they could.

Well, over the past few weeks haven't haven't we pretty much figured out who is gonna be in it? AJ, Kaz, Desmond, and Beer Money? And now a quick swerve that Desmond might not be in it??? I think it took about as much time as need, unless it was gonna end up in a beat down, then what? And Morgan, same story line he is gonna have as he did with MEM I bet.

Agreed. TNA was trying to do too much at one time, as usual.

The induction started out fine but then Desmond Wolfe came out. I figured this would happen so i wasn't quite shocked. Even though him coming out spoiled the moment it didnt quite kill it. I have no problem with Wolfe coming out. I think he should be a part of this group, seeing I believe he is the second best all-around guy TNA has (right behind Kurt Angle).

This obsession TNA management (or Hogan) has with Abyss needs to end. I think the man is absolutely terrible. He's not really that bad in the ring, but I cannot stand watching him cut promos. He's spitting all over the camera, spitting on the guy he's yelling at, wearing those idiotic clothes. But hey, I'll take this Abyss any day of the week over Hogan's Abyss.

Having Abyss/RVD interupt this angle makes me believe TNA doesn't care about this Fortune stable. Do I think that's true? No. I think TNA believes Fortune can be their top group. But once again, as usual, TNA is trying to fit too much into a two-hour program. As a fan, I feel Abyss/RVD completely took all steam away from Fortune. Basically ruined the entire segment.

TNA has done this (overbooking, doing too much) as far back as I can remember. Russo was famous for this in WCW, but not so much in the WWF. Bischoff and company were also famous for some of this in WCW. They would focus so much on what they considered their main storyline, everything else acted as filler. A group like Fortune, with AJ leading, and Flair managing, cannot be treated as filler.

You wanted TNA to scrap the Hardy/Lethal match? TNA has so many talking segments, they need every minute of wrestling they can find. TNA and WWE have switched roles in the last few months; WWE has become the wrestling show, and TNA has become more about entertainment.

Does anyone else feel Fortune got passed over last night as just another regular storyline?

Absolutely. See above.

Do you feel that fortune should get a respectable amount of t.v. time each week do to the fact that they are suppose to be the next best thing in TNA?

They should, and probably will. I don't see this ECW deal lasting too long, and when it's done, the Fortune guys will still be around. I don't like the way it's all started out, but it is far from ruined.

The major question is who the two members of fortune are going to be.... thats if there are only going to be two more added on. I personally dont like Kaz at all he is very dry to me, I can see beer money, Matt Moragan as well since they need a enforcer

It was somewhat lackluster but the whole thing with Fortune thus far has been rather lackluster in and of itself. I do think it has the potential to get better and probably will get better. It probably won't be long before either Kazarian or Styles wind up going after a title. Kazarian was involved in the X-Division scene a little while back, so don't be surprised to see him move back to it with Fortune at his back. As for Styles, I wouldn't be surprised to see him making headway back toward the TNA World Heavyweight Championship scene before long.

Both of them have the stuff inside the ring, there's all sorts of potential for good title feuds. If they do become embroiled in title feuds before too long, I just hope they don't win them too soon or begin a series of hot potato reigns.

it's too early for this type of talk. Flair and the fortune pledges have been getting plenty of air time for weeks. Last impact they had a segment and got interrupted by the main event feud of the month. If anything this sets Abyss up for a lesson in respect somewhere down the line for interrupting Ric Flair or it can be exactly what it was supposed to be, a way to make sure you pay attention to Abyss because we were already paying attention to Flair. If I wanted to book someone to get some instant heat, or any reaction for that matter interrupting the living legend, the face of TNA and his new bff would be a nice start. Just be happy they didn't have Fortune get involved in that brawl at the end of the show, they are above that.

everyone is talking about how it was overbooked and to much was going on thursday tho i do agree there.. the commercials during TNA are just horrible 7-8 per break is just stupid i think they really need to do something about that giving them a bit more time only reason i mention that is its the first time i watched it without it being on the TIVO in a long time but that is part of this discussion sorry to get off track!

i do agree something like this should not be thrown on the back and get little time when it could grow to be something so huge.. but it seems in the past with stables TNA just cant get them right they always do this.

Tho I have NEVER been a fan of flair and always thought him to be a joke and ive never taken the guy serious hes done a lot for the business in general and basically redoing the 4 horsemen doesn't get bigger then that period its the most well known stables in all of wrestling.. and with AJ leading it could be something amazing..

Only thing we can do is just see how it works out they screwed up the M.E.M. lets see what they do with this hopefully it doesn't eventually just die before it gets a chance to blossom into something that can be worth seeing around for the next year or so

The faction hasn't even formed yet and at this point they are just announcing members. I do think they kind of got pushed to the backburner this week, but other than that, they've been a pretty big focus on iMPACT. I think this week it was intentional, just to show how much of a monster Abyss is.....or something like that.

Plus, this ECW invasion isn't going to be a long term program imo, I see it more as just one last bang for the ECW guys. Im going to be out of the country for the next couple weeks so I took the liberty of reading the spoilers for next week's iMPACT, and all these questions about the ECW guys will be answered.

But after the ECW stuff, I see Fortune as being once again one of the main angles on iMPACT.

I don't really see how you can say Fortune is already ruined or whatever, because it isn't even finished being formed :icon_neutral:

The team needs more time to flourish, but the hotter issue in TNA right now is the main event scene and the ECW Invasion. At the end of the day all that matters are your two top contenders for the heavyweight title. That is why Fortune had only a few minutes when Abyss came out to challenge RVD. I'm sure Fortune will have a bigger role as the weeks lead up to the PPV. The main thing for TNA now is the ECW Invasion angle over the Fortune faction.

The group isn't even properly formed yet - how can it be dis-respected? Its not like, as soon as Flair finished announcing the first two member, Abyss came out blind folded - with one arm tied behind his back and preceded to demolish AJ and Kaz as if they were a couple of chumps. Frankly I think they looked even more like cowardly heels, having powdered as soon as Abyss appeared. None of the babyfaces have backed up from him. AJ and Kaz moved outta there faster than a nuns first curry.

I feel that its a little to say that Fourtune is being disrespected it has been one most important storylines on Impact. The faction is just started and the first two members were only just introduced on the lastest Impact. I think that Fourtune needs to win a title soon so that they can start to gain some momentum, and I also think that other memebers who fill out this group should be revealed soon. After this Ecw storyline is finished with I could see this stable becoming a major part of Impact
