First Heel that you cheered for?

CB429

Dark Match Winner
WHo was the first heel that you cheered for more than the face wrestler that he wrestled. For me it was undertaker in 1990 when he showed up at the survivor series and i was instantly drawn to his character. So which heel was the first that you cheered for?

Triple H

I'm fifteen so when I was five he had just become one of WWE's top heels. I still watched wrestling from a kayfabe stance but I always cheered for him. He was my first favorite wrestler. I don't know why I used to like him so much, probalby because he was the leader of DX at that time and I loved them. But now I am kind of tired of Triple H. I still like him but I got burn out on him after Evolution.

Kevin Nash

My brother was all about Goldberg and simple sibling rivalry lead to me really digging Kevin Nash in WCW. I was about 6 or 7 when Kevin Nash's rivalry started with Goldberg. Kevin Nash ended Goldberg's 182-0 undefeated streak around late 1998 I believe. I gloated to my brother and rubbed it all in his face that Kevin Nash beat Goldberg. Good times. Ever since then, no atter how egotistical or self centered Kevin Nash became in his later days, I've always backed him up and loved him. Just because he was my first favorite wrestler and first favorite heel.

AUSTIN 3:!6 right after he won the king of the ring. He was sucha bad ass i loved cheering for him, when he broke brain pilman leg with the chair than try breaking in his house and pilman pulled out a gun hahaha wwe was just so dark and dirty than it was awesome..

Jake "The Snake" Roberts against The Macho Man, but I was young and Jake was one of my favorites.

Other than that It would have to be Raven in WCW. I was a huge fan of Raven and DDP but I always felt myself enjoying Raven more and more(I was realy hoping he would beat Goldberg)

I started watching wrestling in 2006, and I actually went to the Summerslam 2006 event in Boston. There, I cheered for Edge wildly. I think that Edge was the first heel that I cheered for. I mean, he was just so good back in 06, how could you not cheer for him.

mine would have to be HULK HOGAN during the first nWo run. when i was a kid, we tried to watch both WCW & WWF. i liked hogan when he left WWF, and i loved all the destuction he did when he came to WCW. so mine would have 2 be the hulkster.

although i would have 2 give a close 2nd to The Rock because no matter if he was heel or face, he was still an icon to me.

The rock. I started watching when he was a heel competing against foley for the title. I actually really liked foley too, but the rock was just my favorite from the beginning. So actually, the first person i ever really cheered for was a heel.

I have some obscure choices. In 1993 I liked Ludvig Borga and The Quebecers. I know they’re strange choices but for some reason I took a liking to them. I thought Borga’s vignettes were great. He debuted during the Lex Express campaign. While Luger was touring the country and stopping at places like the Liberty Bell and Mount Rushmore Borga was visiting the most poverty stricken and polluted places in America. He questioned why the Lex Express didn’t go to these places and stated that this was the real America. It was a pretty bold statement for a brand new wrestle. Plus Borga looked bad ass in the ring. I don’t know what he was like out of character but he just gave the presence that he could handle anyone who crossed his path. To bad his time with the WWF was so short.

The Quebecers debuted around the same time Borga did. I just liked their style. They had a unique move set and an unusual style of teamwork. Tag team wrestling was starting to go down at this time and they were a welcome site for the struggling division.

I know they are strange choices compared to the many great heels I could have picked but that’s just the way it was for me.

The Miz & John Morrison - Back in ECW, The Miz and Morrison were a fantastic Tag Team, and made an even better Webshow, The Dirt Sheet.
Now i only really restarted watching WWE in 2007 (i had no way of watching it...please pity me) So Miz was starting to be the Chick magnet, while Morrison was edging out of his Johnny Nitro phase.i already liked them both from earlier times (SD! Host, MNM etc...),but even though they were on the wrong side of the fans each week.
But when they started to Bring out The Dirt Sheet, it showed there comedic side, laid-back side, while still in character. It was the only show that made me phisically laugh out loud, so i started cheering for Miz and JoMo...Now look where they are, Main eventer and WWE Champion...I'm Just Sayin...

has to be bret hart in 97. i couldnt help but agree with hart when he kept complaining how he was getting screwed after he rightfully won the rumble but was screwed when scsa cheated to win. he also complained when the fans were booing him when he beat scsa at mania 13 in one of the best matches ever. i was cheering for him all the way that year till he got shafted as survivor series and left the wwe for good until 13 years later. heel hitman just had so much more creativity on the mic and the anger side of hitman made him 10x more interesting. throw in the hart foundation faction and I was on their band wagon

Mine was probably the Rock

I couldn't help but love his arrogance! Plus going from the People's Champion to the Corporate champion and turning his back on the millions...and millions of the Rock's fans was amazing because I sure didn't see it coming!

RANDY ORTON

I remember I started watching wrestling around the age of 13, and I thought this guy was just the coolest. I remember seeing him rko John Cena on the chair before SummerSlam 2007, and I was hooked.

So one of the earlier posters on here, (the brain) brought up some good points. During that time Lex had a lot going for him not that Ive ever really been a Luger fan but those were some good put together video clips and it really hit you hard. Plus its good to get some older names instead of just the normal rock and austin stuff..

For me the first heel that I cheered for to go over a face would have to be Ric Flair. I forget what PPV it was but he was going against Savage back in the old WWF and for some reason I had a feeling Savage would pick it up but I had been pullin for Flair and of course he hit his figure 4 and from there it was over.

But to me Ive always been a big Flair fan, oddly enough at the same time imma giant hulkamaniac haha go figure. but yeah Flair

Even though the thread asks for the first heel I’ll mention one more name since it’s around the same timeframe as my first post. Owen Hart. I always liked Owen going back to his days as the Blue Blazer (I didn’t know who Owen was when he was the Blazer). I thought he was very talented but he was always stuck in the lower mid card. I don’t mind mid card, but low mid card is another story. Owen was just never relevant as a face. His stock skyrocketed at Survivor Series 93. The heel tease, which was completed at Royal Rumble 94, was an obvious turning point for Owen. Even though he was now heel I couldn’t help cheer Owen because he was finally getting the recognition he deserved. My brother felt Owen didn’t deserve such a high spot on the card and had no business being in the ring with Bret at WrestleMania. He said Owen never accomplished anything to deserve that spot. I defended Owen and my brother’s criticism of him made me cheer him even more.

Rowdy Roddy Piper. Instantly hated him the first time I saw him, and yet there was something about him that made you love to hate him. Still wish he would have won the 'Big One' from Hogan during his career, but otherwise, Piper will always remain my favorite bad guy, setting the bar for everyone else who has followed.

Chris Jericho when he became the first undisputed champion....that was around the time I started watching wrestling.... well at first I played the game "WWE Smackdown: Shut your mouth" and I loved Jericho's move-set, so when I started watching him, I cheered for him wildly even against Austin or the Rock.

The second one was Kurt Angle. I just respect this man. He is awesome in the ring, he worked really hard and he is a real-life Olympic gold medalist.

Now, i have to go with Wade Barrett. I liked him since his first day on NXT. It's a real shame he is on smackdown now. I really wanted him to turn tweener/face and feud with CM Punk.

The Undertaker
I started watching in 96, and Undertaker was my favorite from the start. That dark character was something I hadn't seen before in my childhood. When he turned heel after betraying Kane and aligning himself once again with Paul Bearer, I was loyal. I didn't care what he did. To me he was just being true to his nature. So I never booed the Deadman. And for a long time he was the only heel I ever cheered, until 2002 or so when I was old enough to get the gyst of 'heel' and 'face'.

Growing up in the attitude era I was a complete mark. Anyone I was supposed to root for, I rooted for. Anyone that I was supposed to hate, I hated. Except for two men...a tag team. Edge and Christian. Edge and Christian are the first people that I was supposed to hate, but I just couldn't help but enjoy. I loved their 5 second pose, and how they were just complete asses to all their opponents, not caring how badly they hurt them.

and that man is the Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase. I was always a fan of his money, money, money persona. How he'd invite people into the ring to do foolish things for cash and how he'd put people to sleep and then stuff a Benjamin down their throat. Truly a class act. I was irate when he got screwed out of winning the title against Savage due to Hogan and then became outraged further years later when I became a Smart and learned it was due to Honkey Tonk's refusal to drop the IC belt to Savage that the booking cost DiBiase the belt.

I was a huge fan of the Rock, even before his face turn as "the people's champion." I thought the Rock as a member of the Nation of Domination was a refreshing character. He was manipulative, but beyond that of what i had seen of a heel before. He was the first heel i had seen that really captivated the crowd when on the mic. His ring work was second to none, at the time, so to me, he was the best wrestler in the fed. I actually became very upset with his face turn, because it felt like he was MY wrestler...and now all of the sudden, everyone jumped on the bandwagon...but it only fed into the bigger heel turn as the Corporate Champion.

Since then, i have cheered many heels...but the Rock still holds the placard, in my mind, as the heel that had the crowd in the palm of his hands unlike any heel before him.

Probably Kevin Nash, it was the only reason/time my mum would watch wrestling, it gave us something to bond over. Vampiro also, Sting was my favourite wrestler back then and it was the only time during his Stings whole time in WcW as a face I was actually wanting the the guy to win.

Rand Orton. i started watching wrestling back in like 04 or so and i started cheering for Orton on the draft night when he went to smackdown. sure he looks like he got bigger and shaved his head, but he is still the same RKO i remember from the day

I actually had to think about this for a while 'cause when I watched wrestling during the Attitude Era, I was still a little kid and naturally cheered the Faces and booed the Heels. However, after some thinking, I finally came up with someone, and that's the Hardy Boyz. Jeff and Matt were my favorite wrestlers back in the day, and I cheered them all the way, even through the whole Brood phase.

Growing up, at first, I preferred WCW. First heel I ever cheered for was Raven. I don't.. know... why. I honestly can't remember there was just something about him that amazed me. I loved hearing him talk.

As it goes for WWF, I'd say probably Owen or Bret Hart. :)
