Feature: What Is A "Four Corners" Match?

As we reported a few days ago, rumours of John Constantine's urge to face Chris KO, have now materialized. The Power Trip recently took to the stage at a WZCW house show to tell all of the fans what his plans of retribution against WZCW's White Knight entailed...

Constantine walks around the ring some more, the microphone at his side now as he ponders a way in which to punish Chris KO. Finally, Constantine reaches an idea in his mind. He stops in front of his throne and lowers himself back into his seated position.

Constantine: It is all of you who I must teach a lesson. I must send a message to the four corners of my Kingdom that there is no room for heroes. I must show all of you that for your insolence, punishment must be handed out. And for that reason, I am challenging Chris KO to a match. This match, however, will not be a part of his shambolic Open Challenge to the WZCW universe. Here is a man who has lost his last two matches in a row and he thinks that he holds enough stock to demand an Open Challenge. Not in my Kingdom.

But I will put it to you, my loyal subjects that WZCW's White Knight and WZCW's King should do battle. If I am selected for Unscripted, then I will face Chris KO in a Four-Corners match. I will connect myself to Chris KO by rope and unleash a punishment on him that he will never recover from. I will beat him to within an inch of his life to show you just how merciful I can be. And after all of this, I will drag his lifeless body around the ring, touching the four corners of the ring, thus signalling my sheer dominance in the Kingdom. And then, my loyal subjects, you will see that the day of your King John Constantine has arrived and no one can stop me.

So, what does a Four Corners Match actually entail? Well, we at WZCW.com have taken it upon ourselves to give you this brief walk-through.

  • Competitors are tied to one another for the duration of the match
  • Competitors are allowed, and encouraged, to use the tether as a weapon
  • The aim of the match is to incapacitate the opponent
  • Once the opponent is incapacitated, the winner is the man who touches the four corners of the ring in an unbroken trend.

With John Constantine seemingly passing this through WZCW officials, it remains to be seen whether or not the WZCW faithful will find it to be the best option for Chris KO at Unscripted. But one thing is for sure, with Constantine smelling blood in the water, it may be a matter of when, rather than if he gets his hands on the White Knight.

I always thought a Four Corners match was just a match that involved four people ie. a man in each corner.

A Strap match is more normally the stipulation where touching the corners.

Or is this a specific WZCW meaning?

Rev. Cooper says his special stipulation will be a normal wrestling match with no added fixtures. Sounds like fun right?

You're right.

Basically, the name of the match just fits in with my RP and the idea of the "four corners of my kingdom" bit. It technically is a typical strap match at it's roots.

I'm assuming you got this from the old "cut into four pieces and sent through the kingdom" execution, didn't you
