I've seen a lot of parodies of Hulk Hogan but this one cracked me up the most. I was in pieces at him saying "Brother" after every sentence and his acting is hilarious. The Superkick to the Larry King impersonator and to the camera at the end was an epic ending,
So what is yours?
P.S I apologize if the Youtube video does not show up.
I echo your sentiments, as far as being a fan goes I love both characters greatly. I know there was a lot of backstage rumor going on about Hogan's political stroke and Shawn's frustration about it, however it wasn't enough to stop these two from working together and for as zany and silly as the match was with Shawn's overselling, if you were a fan of wrestling like I was back in the eighties, what Shawn did in that match was par for the course of what an 80s style match was.
Now as far as my personal favorite parody goes, like I said the HBK-Hogan one is up there, however I also liked the Billionaire Ted skits. Now I have spoken of those skits in the past on other threads, I personally never had a problem with the skits, I only cite the skits in arguments with fans who always are quick to mention that TNA brings up WWE far too much on their broadcasts, which is true in certain contexts. But when WWE was still the WWF, they went for the jugular with the Billionaire Ted skits by highlighting a lot of Ted Turner's controversies and finding some way to tie that into also spoofing guys that the WCW were able to lure away from WWF, like Hogan, Macho Man and Mean Gene.
However, looking past that, the whole Huckster and Nacho Man characters along with Scheme Gene were GREAT. I mean even though these guys were older by this time and not up to their 80s level of stardom (just yet at least, as we all know the nWo was just on the horizon) the fact that Vince parodied them showed that they were still popular enough to even make mention of on prime time TV. In my opinion it was a win-win for both sides, the WCW guys got exposure from their old company by being parodied and on WCW programming they still had their profile in the company.
I enjoyed both companies at the time and felt no offense as a fan seeing what WWF was doing to WCW. I only mention that when people bring it up today about TNA taking shots at WWE, they should seriously go back and watch those segments and realize WWE is not an innocent company by any means when it comes to this charge.
Another amusing parody that should get a mention was Jillian Hall, it lost its cuteness after a couple of weeks but it was slightly amusing to see Hogan's daughter get lampooned. Again I have no begrudging feelings towards Hulk Hogan but I'm not going to resort to the level of a mark that is going to blindly defend everything about the guy.
There are countless other moments that I am sure other posters can throw out here, but great topic man, thanks for the trigger here to throw out some memories here lol!
Go here to see the first Billionaire Ted Skit, great stuff:
