Getting Noticed By Management
In light of the recent switch from Stone Cold Steve Austin to Chris Jericho as the official after Raw Podcast Host I thought it would be interesting to discuss what the people think. The question is simple: Which is Your Favorite Podcast that discusses WWE related content?

First we got The Ross Report with Good Ol JR as its host. He has an insane wrestling mind complemented with a very good memory. he talks about the 70s,80s, 90s, all the way up to the current status to the company. He covers the reviews of the PPVs, talks about what happened on Raw and Smackdown (with a little NXT on the side) along with a wide variety of guests. Most of those guests are no longer with WWE because the company doesn't allow its talents to appear on his podcast for some reason. He brings legends to talk about the good old days, has Dave Meltzer to review PPVs and basically brings a more cerebral insight of the business. As a negative, sometimes he rambles a bit too much and some of his interviews are not for everyone (since he talks to some guys from previous decades wrestling fans that focus on the current stuff might not be interested in those episodes)

Second We The Steve Austin Show with Stone Cold Steve Austin as its host. Austin brings his whole attitude to the podcast. He has an unleashed (explicit) and a clean version. both have their positives and their negatives. He is hilarious on his podcasts, he has amazing WWE current contract performers come in and he also has legends from the past so he keeps it balanced. He reviews PPVs with Wade Keller and keeps up to date with most current WWE events. I also like that he isnt afraid to ask the hard questions although he does this less when its a WWE podcast instead a Steve Austin podcast. As a negative, his unleashed show he sometimes just rambles on about hunting deer. Some of those episode can be hilarious but some just miss the mark.

Thirdly We have Talk Is Jericho with Chris Jericho as its Host. Again positives and negatives. As a positive he is very passionate and keeps it light. He is funny but not hilarious. He brings a wide variety of guests. He brings current WWE performers, Legends, pornstars, rock stars, Film and tv stars, among others. He talks about the current going ons with WWE, reviews the PPVs with Dave Meltzer as well. As a negative, sometimes he keeps it too light and doesnt ask the hard questions, and sometimes as a WWE fan some of his guests, since some of them have nothing to do with WWE, are kinda boring and I skip those episodes.

Obviously there are other podcasts but I dont listen to them. Gerwick Report, The Roddy Piper Podcast, Tommy Dreamer has one, Colt Cabana as well but they havent really grabbed me.

So, Whats your favorite WWE related Podcast?

I really base my listening on the guests, although I tend to download JR's the most frequently because it seldom strays from pro wrestling talk. Jericho spends too much time talking about what hole in the wall Fozzy will be playing at and tends to have more non-wrestling guests on than others. Although if its someone I like, I'll download it and skip the intro/outro.

Austin's is good when he has a guest or does a Q&A show but I think two shows a week is a bit much, often leading to him telling stories about his personal life, which can be entertaining for awhile but loses my interest in most cases.

Piper's Pit podcast is probably the second most purely pro wrestling podcast within the PodcastOne crew. He still oozes passion for the wrestling business and has countless stories of his time in the business.

As far as outside of PodcastOne, which all less WWE-centric, The Art of Wrestling with Colt is always fun and The Human Podcast machine with Taz is usually good (although surprisingly largely WWE based). Others I listen to on occasion are Wrestling 2 The Maxx, which has 3 or 4 wrestling fans talking about all the major promotions, including NJPW, which is usually the only segment I listen to.

Court Bauer and James E. Cornette have shows on MLW radio which are okay, but I really enjoy Talk'n Shop on MLW which is hosted by Rocky Romero, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson. They have some good guests from Bullet Club and others that pop up in Japan from time to time, its basically just them sitting around the hotel, drinking beer and bullshitting. And Gallows impression of Howard Finkel is amazing, go find that if you've never listened to their show.

As far as WWE related shows, I'd say I enjoy JR's and Piper's the most but I listen to a variety of others on a regular basis.

I listen to a bunch of them from these to Piper's to MLW to PW etc and I think it would be easier to say which ones I dont like which is Piper. If he has a really interesting guest I'll listen to that but otherwise I pass. I like both Austin's and Jericho's because they're both hilarious to listen to. I'm not a huge rock fan though so I dont listen to all of those. I love JR's as well just to hear his thoughts on the industry this week and he gives good interviews as well. I voted for Austin just because of the unleashed version, he was the first (on podcast 1), and he's hilarious. I also liked that he gave his own kinda directors cut commentary to some of his matches. They're all great though. Also forgot about Taz who has a great one even so early into its run. I've liked almost every episode.

My favorite WWE/Wrestling related podcast is Wrestling Reality with Justin LaBar. I enjoy hearing the breakdown of each show & hearing different callers opinions/questions about WWE's weekly programming. The Art of Wrestling is another good one I enjoy regularly as well.

I really like Austin's, Jericho's & Ross' as well, it's just sometimes you get breakdowns, opinions, stories, etc. that you really care about & want to listen to & sometimes you get more fluff that you couldn't care less about. For example a lot of the UFC & Heavy Metal guests/interviews don't usually spark my interest, then there is a mix of stuff in the middle like Jericho's Ghost/Cryptozoology interviews or some of the old timer interviews that are really hit or miss & then there are the ones that are absolute gold like Jericho's recent podcast with Daniel Bryan. So while I enjoy some of the more well known podcasts like Austin's, they can be kind of inconsistent & all over the map at times.

My favorite is Inside The Ropes (www.insidetheropes.co.uk), I also highly recommend their VIP series, which is like $6 a month. It's from Glasgow, Scotland. The guys that host it are die-hard fans that have been watching most of their lives, they usually have an interview every week on the show, but you only get a few minutes of it, the VIP service you get the full interview (and the full catalog of all their old content/interviews). They do a Raw review, NXT review, PPV reviews, cover the news, give opinions and predictions, and they're very active with their listeners, reading comments, doing themed episodes, countdowns, etc. For this past week for WM they did 7 days 7 podcasts leading up, which was great.

They are really funny, and don't grate on my nerves the way a lot of others do. Like for example I probably just shilled their VIP service more than they do on their own show, where as I can't even listen to Wade Keller anymore because he spends more time talking his VIP service then he does actually talking about wrestling, he even does it when he's a guest on other people's shows, but I digress.

As far as wrestlers that have their own show, I think they all have their own merits but it really depends on the episode guest. For example, Piper with Jake the Snake was absolutely hilarious, Piper with Vince Russo made me wish I could have those valuable moments of my life I wasted back. Taz can be interesting from time to time. Austin and Jericho are really hit or miss for me. They both tend to do better with people they have history with, and Austin shouldn't even bother with the "family friendly" version, I mean he self-edits fine, but it's his show so just let it fly. Jim Ross can be good (again depending on guest), but I tend to skip the first 30 minutes where he rambles on about his Sonic drink, how ROH should slow down, and how the Bill Watts days somehow relate to the current product, and just get to the guest.

The Attitude Era podcast is also fun, if you want to hear some fans relive that time period now.

Oh, also big shout of to The Lapsed Fan podcast on this site. Their 30 weeks of WrestleMania reviews was awesome. If you want to hear the most thorough reviews ever (like literally 6 or 7 hours per show) filled with every detail imaginable plus a bunch of Vince McMahon impersonations, definitely give it a listen.

I find that sometimes Austin and some of the others pander to the WWE just a little too much, so I don't listen to them all the time. It really depends on the guest.

The one I listen too almost every week is one that comes out of NY and can be found on the main page. it's hosted by a guy by the name of Frank Manzo and he's a die hard fan, and I find him very entertaining to listen too. He doesn't have WWE wrestlers on his show, but talks about it from a fan perspective which I love. You can also find it on wrestlingrumors.net I think. I just find it a lot of fun to listen too.

Quite surprised no-one here listens to 'Don Tony and Kevin Castle show'. They honestly give their old school insight, smart knowledged reasoned talk & opinions, + with facts & predictions.
And also funny to listen to at times especially when it comes to DT's voice impressions.

I listen to all 3 of those and I'd say my favorite is the Steve Austin Show. Check out Taz's show the Human Podcast Machine. That's pretty good too

I stopped listening to Jim Ross's podcast it is awful. The guy rambles on and at times he doesn't even let his guests speak. Between his twitter and podcast JR comes off as the biggest mark for himself. I kind of understand why WWE loved embarassing him on TV.
