Favorite Submission?

S.O.S. (Used to be z99zazn)
Okay, if you had to pick your favorite submission from any wrestler, what submission would it be, and from who? Why would you pick which one you did? What are the factors? Real pain, looks cool, favorite wrestler, or another reason?

Mine would have to be Kurt Angle's ankle lock. Just the way he delivered it, and his wrestling background really made me like the move. Yeah, I know that Angle wasn't the first to start using the move, I like his delivery. The standing ankle lock looks so intense, I've just always liked it.

So what does everyone think?

The figure four leg lock from the Nature Boy himself. watching the pain on the victims faces looked so real.

Hmmm, this is a tough one.

I have a lot of favorites. I've always been a huge fan of submission wrestlers and wrestlers who had a submission move as their finisher.

I'd have to say that two of my favorites are the Liontamer/Walls of Jericho. But it has to be the original one where it was more of a walking crab/torturer crab instead of just a run of the mill boston crab.

The other one that I absolutely loved was Rings of Saturn. The original one again in this case. Not the modified one that Saturn did when he was standing up. To me, those will always be two of my favorites.

This was done on another thread, but I, myself don’t remember which one it was. Any who, my favorite submissions moves are the Lion Tamer (not the Walls of Jericho), Ankle Lock (by Kurt Angle, I always wondered why he didn’t just call the move the Angle Lock), and the Indian Deathlock (performed by Triple H at WM XIX vs. Booker T.)

I personally love the anaconda vise, and the sharpshooter. The old Liontamer were he'd turn them into a pretzel. I also thought the Rings of Saturn was great. Big fan of the golgoplata as well. I love submission. I think an under rated one is the leg scissors arm bar.

The kata hajime, and nothing else comes close.

Angle's ankle lock, I never really liked. I liked it much better the first time when Ken Shamrock did it.

I got a couple favorite submission moves.

First one being the Tazmission, it was perfect honestly. Taz would slap that bad boy on in the blink of an eye and if you weren't in the mood to tap out to it, he'd either hold it in or nail a nasty suplex out of it.

Second one is Bryan Danielson's Cattle Mutilation. It really doesn't serve much purpose that I've noticed, but I'm a fan of The American Dragon and I think it at least looks interesting.

Last one is the Dragon Sleeper, a simple inverted guillotine choke; someone like Roderick Strong could possibly nail a few backbreakers while still holding onto the submission. I'm not really sure what it is about the lock that I like, just that I do.

The Crossface, I liked Benoit, he was consistantly entertaining and the crippler crossface is my favourite submission, I dont know why I liked it, I think it was because it was just when Benoit applied it you could almost feel his desperation to hold on and finish the match with it. It was actually a great moment when Benoit used it to win the World Title at WM 20.

Sharpshooter is my second favourite, Bret Hart is one of my favourites but if I am totally honest The Rock made the move popular to me, I didnt appreciate Harts variation until I was a bit older.

I'm gonna go with something alot of people don't appreciate and say the Regal Stretch, as applied by Mr. William Regal. It looks painful as all hell, and you can tell he's really trying to win, on the rare occassion that he trots it out.

Runner-up honours go to the Texas Cloverleaf, Malenko style. It really is painful, and the anguish is etched on the recievers face. It just appeals to me, that something so simple, was so effective.

The Undertaker's banned gogoplata

It's a legit maneuver, although not perfectly utilized according to MMA submission standards, it still is legitimately painful, it was booked as very dangerous, and everyone fell victim to it.

My top one would have to be the Gogoplata, it's a legitimate move and also has that 'cool' and 'dangerous' look when it's being applied.

My 2nd choice would be the Dragon Clutch, basically the Dragon Sleeper but sitting on the opponents back like you would for the Camel Clutch.

Chicken wing cross face either bob backlund stlye and i think Kurt angle used it for a while. This move looks stunning. standing is the best way to lock it in and it looks legitly painful

For me its either Benoits crossface or Kurts ankle lock, both look genuinly painful, there both simple and can both be hit from pretty much any situation

I agree that the crossface would have to be one of my favorites.
Along with the Bret Harts Sharpshooter, the way he would lock it in was astonishing at times.
