Evaluating Mark Henry's Other Title Reigns

[One to Remember]

As we all know Mark Henry has spent 15 years im WWE. From 1996-2011 he only captured three titles in his whole carerr, first the WWF European title in 1999 then the ECW title in 2008 and finally the World heavyweight title this year.

He basically wins a new title every five days and I wonder what you thought of his other two title reigns and if you felt like they helped him at all with his World heavyweight title?

I didn't think anything of the European title because it was the European title. I think his title run as ECW champion was much more significant because of how he carried himself as a heavyweight champion. I don't know what you mean by wins a title every five days, but I do know that this current reign as World Champion has been one of best runs we've seen by a WHC in a while. Mark Henry has cemented his place in the WWE with this run no doubt.

This is actually wrong. He defeated Kane at Night of Champions in June 2008. Kane retained against Chavo in a ten second match at Wrestlemania 24.


Anyways, to answer the question in the thread.... The European Championship reign was SO long ago that it no longer matters. The Mae Young hand incident and his run as Sexual Chocolate ruined any momentum that could have generated. His ECW Championship reign helped him look more like a potential main eventer, had they kept him in that character rather than turn him face on Raw for a rather pointless run, then he would look much more like a threat to the world title contenders than he does now. I struggle to take him seriously as World Champion, but had it not been for the ECW Championship reign then it would be dang near impossible to. That helped him quite a bit because it showed what he might be like as a champion, and how destructive he can be.

Mark Henry was in the battle royal at WM24. I saw him in it live and Kane actually last eliminated him so your title for the ECW title reign is wrong. He won the title from Kane in a triple threat match that also included Big Show.

Back to the topic, his ECW title was good, just good. He was much like in his current state booked to be a monster heel on the declining ECW C show. All I remember from that reign was Colin Delaney beating him once, or I could be wrong on that. Anyway neither reign helped him all that much with his current run since the European title reign was long ago and is not relevant anymore. We have seen monster heel champion Mark Henry dozens of times before, however this stage in his career his the climax of his entire WWE stint, and come WM28 he will have the defining match of his career win or loose. He has come a long way from both title runs and is now the best he has ever been, the 2 reigns will remain in his accolades overshadowed by his World title reign.

I honestly forgot that he ever held the European Championship, that goes to show you how much that reign did for him. Looking back on him winning that title it was nothing to get excited about, he was a good worker and he held a midcard title for about a month, all it did was add a title reign to his accolades. If there was ever anything that made him look legit in his career before his heel push that lead to him winning the World Heavyweight Championship, it was his run as the ECW Champion. When he was the ECW Champ he was on the right track much like he is now, but then like Dagger noted he went to Raw which resulted in a face turn that left him extremely insignifcant for what felt like ages. His ECW reign definitely showed that he could be a real champion and I think he would have seen one or two more titles between then and now had he not been turned into the jolly world's strongest man and done jackshit on Raw's midcard scene.

so you guys are basically saying him staying heel consistently would had been more of an asset for him then his ECW and WWF European title reigns? And you guys also think his Euro run even back then really did nothing for his career? None of you believe lesser championships give a wrestler the skills to properly uphold the main championship?
