I've been to Lithuania and a workmate is from Latvia, basically one of the main things to note is summer time in the Baltics states, it gets VERY hot. You'll find the police is corrupt in those countries too, they hide behind bushes by the highway waiting to pick off anyone at hand, even if they're speeding or not.
And given they hold this in Lithuania, I can image Estonia has this too, apparently when it comes to purchasing items from certain stores or even market stands, if they know you speak a word of English and are a tourist, they will raise the price of their items. Is anyone of your family able to speak Estonian or Russian?
