Essays

Reading FTS's most recent thread, he brought up essays in Standardized Testing, and it totally reminded me of what I wrote my essay about in the Exit Exam. And looking back, I cannot believe how stupid I was. This has got to be the first time I thought about this since I took the test in the 10th Grade.

Honest to God, this is no joke, but I remember the question was if you could name a street in your city after someone, who would it be and why? And you know what my answer was? You ready for this....

RICKY WILLIAMS

I kid you the fuck not. The football player. Why in the hell did I choose him? I guess because he was my favorite sports figure at the time, and because, well... at the time, I knew (cared) more about his accomplishments than anyone else. :lmao:

And yes, for the record, I did pass with flying colors. I don't know if that had anything to do with it though. What I would give to read the actual essay itself again.

Anyway, to make this an actual topic, I ask the question... do you remember writing any odd essays while you were in high school or middle school, that when looking back now you can't believe you did it? If so, share them.

Someone at my school answered the essay question "is there such a thing as high culture?"

With "obviously there is as it is in the general studies textbook. If there wasn't it would make this subject more pointless than it already is." and wrote nothing else.

He got 3/90 for the exam as a whole.

I once wrote about having a beard. My teacher loved it. He would later get fired for watching child pornography on a school computer.

I did an essay in english comp in college I was really proud of. I compared a thunderstorm to sexual intercourse, in rather explicit detail. Got an A.

I know this topic is supposed to be about embarassing essays, but I just wanted an excuse to mention my brilliant topic in college.

You can pass the HSPA by just getting over 50% right. Hypothetically I could have drawn pictures of frogs for my essay.

I'm such a rebel, I didn't even do the SAT essay. Well, mainly because they said it didn't count and the fact that they only gave us 15 minutes to write an entire essay. But I still got a 1210 on the SAT! SUCK IT!
