Wow...the ignorance of some of these posts is really astounding. Michael Cole's current heel persona is doing EXACTLY what a heel commentator is supposed to do: he generates heat for himself by taking an extremely hypocritical point of view, whatever that may be, he helps generate heat for certain wrestlers by praising them while simultaneously denouncing certain fan favorites and he comes across as an arrogant snot that you'd like to slap in the face. I honestly don't see what everyone's problem is. Are you just too young to be familiar with the job functions of a heel commentator? It's true that there hasn't really been heels calling matches for quite a while now but Michael Cole is doing exactly what guys like Jesse Ventura & Bobby Heenan did back in the day. How many times did we hear Bobby Heenan basically crap all over Hulk Hogan during matches or how many times did he practically jizz all over himself for Ric Flair? Far too many to count and it was entertaining to hear each and every time in my opinion.

Michael Cole has been far better in 2010 than he's ever been at any point in his career.

This post makes me laugh. Just because a character makes you dislike him or hate him does not automatically mean hes doing a great heel job. There are different types of hate for a character. You can hate some enjoy watching them, or hate someone and cant stand to see or hear them because they offer no entertainment just annoyance, and that would be Michael cole. Please dont compare this clown to Ventura or Heenen, these guys had talent and were entertaining. Cole on the other hand is a try hard douche bag. Like the majority of current wwe stars, cole is visibly acting and trying too hard, its not natural plus he is just annoying and lame, hes basically a goof ball clown, and that doesnt entertain me, it annoys me.

But he seems to fit in with the current product, which is why it all stints so much these days. I cant stand cole. Why the hell did they get rid of Bishoff? Now that was a guy who played the perfect heel announcer, and commissioner. Just compare cole to the days of Bishoff. He was disliked but very entertaining and he had authority. He really makes cole look like a total amateur on every level.

like already said, Cole is just doing his job. same with the mz. if you hate them, then thats good for them. plus lawler hasnt been that great in a while, but i have enjoyed the arguing back and forth between him and cole. heel and face annouce teams have always been entertaining. only in this case, the play by play guy is the heel. i have no problem with it, finally cole is showing a personality.

My only issue with heel cole is that he still seems to love Cena. i know he is the face of the WWE and whatnot but Cole should still show some dislike towards him, it would really make him a full out heel.

Cole was full on heel for awhile and was swooning over Miz's every action and sticking up for all the heels... but I think WWE told him to cut back a bit on being too extreme to one side as it was getting redundant and stale rather quickly.

I'm not a mark, so I have no problem with heels. In fact I probably like more heels than faces nowadays but Miz and Cole completely SUCK. I've always thought they sucked. I've never liked either of them and neither deserve to be the top of their fields. Miz as WWE champion is a JOKE. People bash TNA yet the WWE has a guy as champ who'd get his ass kicked by the average joe on the street. The TNA champ might be an asshole, but the WWE champ is a pussy.

And Cole, he's awful. Even worse now because he doesn't have Taz or JBL to carry him. The only reason he got the play by play job on both shows is because JR's not announcing anymore. But still, he shouldn't be on both shows. Josh and Striker are fine by themselves on Smackdown.

Cole's annoying, but as mentioned before, it's to build heat for Miz.

With that in mind, I think that's the biggest problem with Cole. He's a "heel commentator " as most of you put it. If that's the case, then why is he a "heel" only for the Miz?

He still talks like he's in awe of John Cena. Wouldn't a true heel announcer tear Cena down every chance that he gets?

It's become confusing really. He talks up heels like Miz, he tears down faces like Daniel Bryan. But it's not really clear cut with the other faces and heels.

I don't think we can call him a "heel commentator". He's really just Michael Cole, and he's annoying.

About what Sockpupet353 said, Michael Cole isnt supposed to be a heel. He is a commentator for GOD's sake. HE'S NOT SUPPOSED TO GAIN FUKING HEEL HEAT!. His commentating is cheesy, and he botches god knows how many times on the OTHER side of the announcers table. Here are a few for example:

2008:
Batista is the new Womens Champion!

2009:
Randy Orton punted Triple H's HUSBAND in the head.

2010:
A Twist Of Fate of the top of a ladder!

If Jerry Lawler was the one making all of the "anonymous GM" laptop announcments their wouldnt be NEARLY as much heat that Michael Cole draws!!!

I've had enough of Cole, but all this is helping build up Miz fairly quickly. The WWE IMO waited a few years too long to create some young future champions, but they're trying now and that's what matters. Sure Cole is annoying the crap out of us all, but at this rate, Miz could be built up very well by Mania and that's really the point behind all of this.
