I really don't have a problem with the Miz showing up on all the shows because he is the WWE Champ and in the middle of a big push but I am so sick and tired of Cole. It isn't because of heel heat either. He is just annoying and somehow has gotten worse. The IWC just loves heels so now they're jizzing all over Cole now. He is a horrible commentator. If you want to hear great commentating, just listen to CM Punk. Cole has been in the E since about 97 or so and, in a few months, Punk has blown him out of the water and has showed everybody what a real commentator sounds like. Cole should be fired; plain and simple.

To me, Cole hasn't been good since he and Taz split on SmackDown. All Cole has done since taking over raw is make me want to mute my tv. My distain for him has nothing to do with the fact that he's flat out irritating. He forces his catchprhases whereas Good Ol' JR let them flow naturally. And I completely agree that C.M. Punk has better timing and is way more entertaining than Cole. I think he absolutely ruined the current SmackDown broadcast and I found Josh and Matt to be far more entertaining. I enjoyed Byron Saxton more than Cole. As a matter of fact the only person that could top Cole on my list is Mike Adamle and we all know how that turned out.

Are you guys kidding me? CM Punk is decent enough at the announce table at best. Yeah he has some cool and edgy things to say, but he does not have the skill that comes with all the years of announcing done by the likes of Michael Cole. Cole knows HOW to announce. CM Punk has nothing to say a lot of times, and he doesn't give the kind of impress wrestling insight that announcers like JBL or Tazz used to give us. It seems you are overestimating CM Punk's announcing ability because he's next to obnoxious Michael Cole. Cole is as much better at announcing as Punk is wrestling. And if you notice, Miz is doing a pretty good job at being top heel. Since Orton is face, Edge is face, and Jericho is out, who the hell else is there. Kane? His head is too far up Paul Bearers rolls to be the kind of heel he was against Undertaker. Get a grip on your little feelings and channel them back into cheering the good guys and booing the bad guys. You're supposed to hate them. Now BACK to the show!

What the hell is wrong with everyone? I think Heel Michael Cole is one of the greatest things in WWE today. Obviously CM Punk commentator is loads better, but the interactions with Heel Michael Cole is great stuff. Yet everyone seems to hate him. Wasn't this the sort of thing smarks wanted when they whined and bitched about Cole being boring and a suck announcer? What the hell do you people want?!


Or maybe something's wrong with me. I just think it's hilarious to have Michael Cole, the normally bland, dorkface, being the jerkass who calls a show crappy when it is, bangs on a gong that is placed beside him for no reason at all. He's pretty much the ONLY heel commentator in mainstream pro wrestling (if I were to include TNA). Maybe that's the only reason I like him; he's the only one out there.



But seriously, I want to hear a REAL and LEGITIMATE and GENUINE reason why you hate his heel commentary. Not just broad generalizations or "it doesn't fit" or "play by play guys shouldn't be heels" or "he stupid he say stupid thing i hate him", but a REAL reason. For example, I can say "I disliked 2008-2009 Jim Ross as a commentator because he flubbed his lines a lot and often did not call moves correctly" or "I disliked face Michael Cole because he was boring with nothing interesting to say and always getting wrestlers names or move names wrong, and oftentimes not even calling moves by their names, but making up random shit like 'double leg lift' for a dropkick"

Well fucking good! All I can say is that this is a testament to Cole doing a good job as a heel announcer. Look I've always disliked the guy, but he has been better for the last six months than the entire duration of his career before now, but he is a damn good heel right now, and you making this thread proves that. 1) The play by play guy should NOT be a heel. Its a stupid idea. He's supposed to be the narrator guiding the audience and their opinions. He should be impartial and lean face not total heel. The guy telling you the story shouldn't be the least trustworthy guy on the program. Broad generalization or not it doesn't work. How does he make you care about the storyline and what's going on in the ring if you hate him, think what he says is stupid (Kofi should be DQ'd for kicking Swagger in the ropes, the match should have ended then? I understand that the heels job is to make you not like them. I don't like Miz because he does a good job making me not like him. He's one of the few guys right now that really do that for me. Maybe the only one. Cole if he was a wrestler, a manager, or a GM being a heel of that calliber it would be one thing. He's be doing a GREAT job. As an announcer who talks through the entire show? No he's doing a terrible job especially when he is the voice of the the WWE right now.

Let's see here. Cole likes the Miz. Miz is a heel. Audience hates Cole praising Miz. Makes audience hate Miz even more. Whats the problem?

Taz was awful with Cole and he's awful without Cole. JBL and Cole were solid gold though. Cole has done more to get heat for Miz than anyone besides Miz.

His whole role as heel commentator is based upon him calling a match and you hating him. And from the looks of it, I'd say that you guys hate him. Meaning, he's doing his job.

The fact that you find Michael Cole extremely annoying only plays into the fact that his heel role is working perfectly for him. He's supposed to come-off as an annoying fuck who whines and sucks the Miz's balls; he's supposed to make stupid catchphrases and shove them down your throat; he's supposed to make you want to beat the shit out of him--do you understand? As for his commentating skills...do you guys even know what the role of a commentator is to do? No? Didn't think so. The role of a commentator is for him (or her) to call the match and give a better understanding of what is going on in the ring, outside the ring, elsewhere, etc. Now, does Michael Cole do this? Why yes, he does. Sure his knowledge on wrestling moves may be limited and relies on the old fashion "_______ looking for a submission hold" or the common "Nice takedown by ________". but regardless of this minor setback, Cole does a great job as a commentator. He may not be the best, but he's good.

Michael Cole is annoying. I know he's a heel announcer, but that just started to go in full force recently. Before that, he was garbage. He was annoying to listen to.

I recall comparing 2 wrestlemanias, and I remember Ross/King announcing an Undertaker match, and they just shut up and let the fans enjoy the moment with Taker's entrance. The next year, Cole was announcing the Taker match, and he just kept babbling on and on and on right through.

Cole talks too much. You want good heel announcers, look at how Lawler was back in the day, or guys like Heenan or Ventura. Hell, even Dibiase on Saturdays used to be better.

I agree. Michael Cole as a heel commentator is ten times better than when he was a regular commentator. Before, I couldn't stand Cole on commentary because he absolutely sucked at it, IMO. But, since showing heelish qualities, I've come to love to hate him and I'm actually starting to find him more and more entertaining.

As much as people bitch about Michael Cole, we all have to face the reality that JR will never be on commentary again and Jerry Lawler isn't going to be around much longer either. Whether we like it or not, Michael Cole is going to be the one to take over and we will be left with two options. Watch WWE on mute or deal with it.

As for the Miz, well, I wasn't a fan of making him champion, but I'll wait for a few months before criticizing.

I have a problem with Miz being on both brands, and here's why:-

I thought we had a BRAND EXTENSION!

That means Raw superstars on Raw, and Smackdown superstars on Smackdown! I know WWE don't adhere to this very often (the mixed 3-hour shows on Raw can attest to that) but don't push seperate brands, and then have superstars appear on both.

What I am saying is not a knock on the Miz. He would be better than most to be on both brands, but as someone who hated the brand extension since day one, this justifies why I detest it- because it is not honored! WWE made a rod for its own back by doing the stupid brand split to begin with (I knew it would be a failure) and they have to either follow it to the letter or scrap it.

So, for mine, Miz (and Cole) can be on both brands only if:-

(a) They scrap having two seperate heavyweight titles, have a unification match (which the Miz wins) and then he can go on either brand, and accept challenges from anybody.

(b) Scrap seperate Raw and Smackdown brands, and have everybody on both shows, or just have either Raw or Smackdown. This way, you can build people, but also not violate any "brand exclusivity".

Wow...the ignorance of some of these posts is really astounding. Michael Cole's current heel persona is doing EXACTLY what a heel commentator is supposed to do: he generates heat for himself by taking an extremely hypocritical point of view, whatever that may be, he helps generate heat for certain wrestlers by praising them while simultaneously denouncing certain fan favorites and he comes across as an arrogant snot that you'd like to slap in the face. I honestly don't see what everyone's problem is. Are you just too young to be familiar with the job functions of a heel commentator? It's true that there hasn't really been heels calling matches for quite a while now but Michael Cole is doing exactly what guys like Jesse Ventura & Bobby Heenan did back in the day. How many times did we hear Bobby Heenan basically crap all over Hulk Hogan during matches or how many times did he practically jizz all over himself for Ric Flair? Far too many to count and it was entertaining to hear each and every time in my opinion.

Michael Cole has been far better in 2010 than he's ever been at any point in his career.

It is serving its purpose 100%. That is the point, Miz AND Cole are both Heels and are trying to become more relevant with every day that passes. This is the perfect way to do it. They have Cole and Miz connected right now.

So, you would think everyone would understand that an angle or storyline must be followed through with and built as much as possible. We are talking about the WWE Champion, and the MAIN voice of the company. Exposure is a must and anything saying otherwise just doesn't know business at all.
