DQ's in ECW

Break Me Down.
Is it just me or does at least one match on ECW end in a Disqualification every single week?

Remember the days when the word "disqualification" was unheard of in ECW?

Uhhh not every match is a Extreme rules match you know. Some are single, tag team.Triple threat Not all is No Dq

It's only ECW in name. There may well be at least one D.Q. finish per week but for a WWE show that's perfectly normal.

Ahhhh..... the old days of ECW when there was no such thing as a DQ. Using the name without keeping any of the product true to its roots is a sin.

In Old ECW it wasent really that every match was no DQ, it was more their were no rules. Smacking someone with a chair was normal. Leg dropping someone through a table was normal. The reason their are so few No DQ matches are because Vince thinks when they occur they will be "special" or something which clearly isnt the case. Its not that special when its something people can get from other promotions or even watching past ECW.

Lance Storm mentioned this in one of his q&a's recently. He said that in ECW there were rules, it's just that they weren't enforced. I believe this is what he had to say.

Hey i'm not saying I want every match to be "Extreme Rules" and I know it's this "new breed" of ECW where they are trying to go in a totally different direction all I want is matches to have an out and out winner, ending in pinfalls and submissions.

But if the matches had a sure winner why would you buy the pay-per-views? Vince believes teasing the audience for months and then giving them a craptacular finale on an overhyped PPV is what people want. Problem is, you tease someone long enough they believe it is never going to happen. Kind of like an ECW we would like to watch.

Vince probably thinks that by giving us matches with no rules on ECW, it will make things like Street Fights and No-DQ matches on Raw and Smackdown seem less special, and not as worthy of their stipulation because you can get that kind of stuff for a solid hour on ECW. Also, he's scared of people getting injured and wants the new ECW to be a place where he can send talents that he thinks need to develop a bit more; like a higher level OVW/DSW - so putting them in no-rules matches with nothing but highspots would be unlikely to develop their wrestling talent. He probably also has a warped feeling that if he gives every match the no rules stipulation, then it'll get old, and like I said before, make them seem less special.

I think a good thing for him to do would be to make title matches no rules matches - so that we don't see any more of the bs finishes like the one at the Rumble. But I guess he probably won't do that because it's not his way of doing things.

ECW should make every single match, tag team, title or not 'extreme rules' Then it may just live up to its title of ECW (extreme)

In an ideal world - yes. I agree, I'd like nothing more than to see every match as an extreme rules match and I don't agree that it would get old, but that's just what I think Vince thinks. I guess as fans we have to face the fact that the product we see every Tuesday night is a product of WWECW so will never be the same as the good old ECW --- which is why the sales of old ECW DVDs are so high. I just wish Vince would compromise a bit though - we hardly EVER see extreme rules matches now.

Seeing a DQ in an ECW match is probably the worst thing about the show each week. No matter what, you would always get a winner under Heyman's old regime. There were no excuses made, either. If you lost due to interference, shame on you for not aligning yourself with others who could help you fight back. It's irritating as hell to see DQ's or countouts in wrestling because it negates the match. I don't mind seeing someone lose clean or dirty if the match is good. So not only do we get mediocre wrestling from the new ECW, but there is also pointlessness heaped on top of it?!? That, my friends, is "weak" sauce.

Talking to my older brother the other day, he can only recall one DQ ever in the old ECW! He forgets what match!...Honestly there really wasn't a script or rules enforced, thats what made it so entertaining to watch and look forward to each and everytime ECW was on TV.

vince is afraid that because theres no rules that his wrestlers will mess up and get injured so just like the cw division on smackdown he limits what they do but for people like Sabu who made there carrer on puting people through tables where does that leave them. But i no what vince is saying sort of but this is supposed to be ecw as long as their trained to put people thorugh tables properly its all good right? And he wants ecw to be a place for new talent to go onto to improve but if u put them in no dq matches they use chairs instead of grapples which vince wants to see and then later when he wants them on raw or smackdown there no use to him
