Heels, my favorite part of this business. Heel love, I know it's out there, I know your reading.

Let's focus on modern era, just to put a time period on it let say 04 AND LATER, I don't want a whole nother thread about Hogan and the god damn NWO, lets go with modern Heels.

I don't really care about who you thought was the most impactful or whatever, I just wanna know who you like.

Favorite Heel Turn? When, Who, Why?
Right Now? Christian, after these last 2 matches with Orton, the loss and then the DQ win. They are making a little rat out of him and the character works really well.

Favorite Heel character? Who, Why?
Black Vest Batista, right before he left...that character worked, it was funny as hell, face fans hated him and it didn't feel so forced like his face runs.

Who works better as a heel than face? Who, Why?
CM Punk, his face character back around ECWs extinction was boring and he is Heel gold now even though I'm still cheering.

Who do you want to turn now? Who, Why?
John Morrison, he needs something, This would give him a ticket to the main event, R Truth got a main event nod for a few months, let Morrison have a run. Rock Stars aren't nice guys.

Favorite Heel Turn? When, Who, Why?
R-Truth. He's gone from stale to very entertaining. Went from piss break to everyone be quiet and laughing at his promos.

Favorite Heel character? Who, Why?
I'm gonna agree with you. Batista was never better before he left. The GQ monster heel worked great. But currently it is Alberto Del Rio.

Who works better as a heel than face? Who, Why?
Kane. Face=Jobber Heel=scary monster

Who do you want to turn now? Who, Why?
WWE doesn't need any new heels. They have too many of them. They need to be some face changes kind of like what Sheamus is doing right now. So with the state of the saturated WWE heel pool I would say right now it would be cool to heel up the undertaker for a while.

Favorite Heel Turn: HBK
The short 3ish week stint when he turned on Hogan after teaming with him for a while. No one saw it coming. It was a very entertaining few weeks.

Favorite Heel Character: Using a group: Nexus
Let's face it, when the Nexus angle started it was HUGE. It was the biggest thing in wrestling in a long time. The fact that the whole group/angle has devolved into what it is now saddens me, but for a good few months, that group was untouchable and had TONS of heat. Very entertaining stuff.

Works better as a heel: JBL
He was good in his days of APA as just a beat down muscle man/tag team specialist. When he turned into a self made stock market millionare (which he actually is) he did infact run all over smackdown. He even made an excellent return for his final run against Jericho, those promo's were gold, as were all of his heel promos. He knew how to get a crowd pissed.

Who I want to turn: Rey Mysterio
I think he is incrediblly boring now. His matches are all the same and his character does the same stuff every night. Make him pissed off for losing the title like that. I would be. Have him throw some heel promo's out there on the CM Punk/Cena situation. I don't know if I've ever seen a heel Rey, and I kinda want to see what he can do with it. You know he has enough of a following with the kids now to REALLY break some hearts with a turn.
Honorable Mention: Santino, because I want to see him as a legit wrestler, and heel status could do that for him. And, it might be funny...

I like this thread. Top Stuff.

Favorite Heel Turn? When, Who, Why?
Arguably the top two are Hogan @ BATB and Austin @ WM. The one I'm going to go for though as my favourite heel turn is... When? Survivor Series '97 Who? Vince McMahon Why? Because it was completely understated at the time because the majority of the focus went on HBK and Bret Hart, but the Montreal Screwjob launched the Heel Mr.McMahon character and marked the end of him posing as just another play by play guy once and for all. That incident; in my opinion, had just as much influence in shaping the attitude as Austin's character development through '96 and '97.

Favorite Heel character? Who, Why?
Who? The Undertaker Why? This is for the late '97/ '98 heel incarnation of the dead man as he was spearheading the formation of the Ministry of Darkness. It was so unbelievable done executed in a way that was so sure of itself that it still somehow come across as completely believable. I just loved it.

Who works better as a heel than face? Who, Why?
Yeah, I think I'll agree with the first post. CM Punk was a great heel and his current tweener role is a risky path that might end up limiting how much he can do. Just look at Randy Orton for example, his heel work was so good that WWE forced a face turn on him and he's been left SO DULL. I hope it doesn't happen to Punk. CM Punk is much better as a Heel.

Who do you want to turn now? Who, Why?
Who? John Cena is the obvious one, but either way I'm not bothered he's for a different audience to myself. I would like to see... Jerry Lawler? Why? Because he's the only face I can think of that'd actually mean something to me. It'd only work if the Raw announce team went back to being just the 2 man set of Ross and Lawler though. It just works better when the play by play can do his job and be complimented by the heel doing colour. With Cole being a heel play by play he's always too busy selling the heel character to do his play by play duties properly, which means the match isn't being paid attention to, which means people watching have no reason to think the match they're watching matters. That might've been off topic.

Favorite Heel Turn: Christian
I was waiting for this, because there was no way Christian and Orton were going to feud if they were both faces, and Orton is face of Smackdown so that led to Christian turning heel. By the looks of things, he's doing an amazing job. I love when he argues with Teddy Long and the way he gets Orton pissed off, (spitting in his face, vandalizing his bus, stealing his wallet.) Not to mention his great series of matches with Randy.

Favorite Heel Character: Chris Jericho
I know, there are a lot of other people who were VERY close in my opinion, (Batista, CM Punk, etc.) But I really got into Jericho's heel character before he left. It was entertaining, and the fans were sick and tired of him, which meant his character worked. JeriShow has to be one of the greatest tag teams in recent history, and Jericho really knows how to get the crowd started, whether it be a heel or face.

Who works better as a heel: CM Punk
I was trying to think of somebody else, but Punk would just keep coming to mind. When he first came to the WWE, his face character was nothing special and very boring. Now that he is heel, he has gone from a Jesus look-alike savior to modernized Steve Austin. He is golden on the mic as well as in the ring, and anything he does now will be marked in history.

Who I want to turn: Right now, nobody. I think the E is overstacked on heels. I guess that's why we saw a recent face turn from Sheamus. Although, I'm pretty worried about this, because I don't know how Sheamus can play off the face character. I really liked his ruthless heel persona, but let's just see where he can go with this.

Favorite Heel Turn? When, Who, Why?
Well there has been many great heel turns since 2004 but I'm going to agree with the op on this. Christian's heel turn has been my favourite because this heel turn has given him a permanent spot in the main event where he deserves to be and where I want him to be.

Favorite Heel character? Who, Why?
Again a question with many potential answers. I'll go with one of my favourites which is R-Truth's current character. I like the crazy mentality and the whole conspiracy theory is another twist that I'm looking forward to see develop. I look forward to see him every week because it's a fun character. I am a big fan of many heel characters of the past and present so I just picked one.

Who works better as a heel than face? Who, Why?
R-Truth is one of many who work better as a heel than a face. His face rapper character or whatever it was, was one character that I hated. It was very cheesy and it bored the hell out of me. Whereas his current character is one of my favourite characters.

Who do you want to turn now? Who, Why?
WWE doesn't need any more heels but if I had to pick it would be Kofi Kingston. I'm not a fan of his current character and I never have been. It has gotten very stale and boring. But I know he's talented and I think he could be successful as a bad ass heel. He's already shown in his feud with Orton than he can pull of a sort of bad ass character so I think a bad ass heel character could work for Kofi.

favourite heel turn: cm punk on jeff hardy
it had been slowly building for weeks but when punk hit hardy with the mic that sealed it. that was a great summer feud with great matches and promos with punk's straight edge against hardy's risk-taking attitude

favourite heel character: cm punk
again, cm punk worked the straight edge saviour gimmick so well on smackdown. when he came to raw he got injured and got put with nexus to regain some heat. but he can change an entire arena from cheering him to booing him and from booing him to cheering him he's that good on the mic

who works better as a heel: cm punk
i hate to keep answering with the same guy but his face run was bland
"i don't drink, smoke or do drugs" okay, so what?
"i don't drink, smoke or do drugs and that means i'm better than you" now there's a character

who needs a turn: john cena
everyone says it but this character is bland after so many years doing the same thing. heels can still sell merchandise, look at the miz's shirts!

Favorite Heel Turn: CM Punk
As a face I always found him kind of boring. After the turn and that Jeff Hardy feud he became one of the most entertaining guys in the business.

Favorite Heel Character: Edge
Something about the ultimate opportunist gimmick just worked for me.

Works better as a heel: R-Truth
This could have gone to a lot of different guys, so I just decided to pick a recent example. Not a lot of people can say they went from jobber to main eventing against Cena in the course of about a month or two

Who I want to turn: Nobody right now.
WWE is already heel heavy on raw, and seeing as how the only guy I would like to see turn is John Morrison, but at the same time dont want him getting stuck behind Miz, Del Rio, Punk, Ziggler, and Truth, nobody turning makes the most sense to me. Nobody on smackdown is really calling out to me on this one either

Favorite Heel Turn? When, Who, Why?
CM Punk. I was (still am) a huge Edgehead, and I couldn't stand CM Punk when him and Edge had a feud. I mean I HATED him. I've liked him ever since he turned.

Favorite Heel character? Who, Why?
Edge. Arguably, he has created more controversy in the last decade than other heels. They didn't call him the ultimate opportunist for nothing! I loved how his character would steal wins by cheating... that drew a lot of heat from the crowd.

Who works better as a heel than face? Who, Why?
HHH. I can't stand the "funny" Hunter. He tries to woo the audience with comedic one-liners. It's not funny. HHH is will always be a better heel than face... no doubt!

Who do you want to turn now? Who, Why?
Someone posted that Rey Mysterio would be a great turn... and I agree! They could really play the angle of Rey getting pissed that he lost to Cena, and make a claim the he deserves a re-match. Plus, like someone mentioned, it would be great to break the hearts of all the kids in his fan base. It would definitely make things more interesting.

For my opinions they are of the current roster; '04 to '10 was pretty stale other than some Undertaker feuds, Edge, and CM Punk v Hardy

Favorite Heel Turn? When, Who, Why?
Cody Rhodes...ok, he was technically a heel already, but without the reinvention of his character I think he would be no wheres right now like Dibiase is, even though they are paired together...

Favorite Heel character? Who, Why?
The Miz. John Cena vs Miz was not great Wrestlemania material, but other than Dle Rio or Punk he works the mic the best and always cuts great promos. They may not be shoots like Punk, but they always get heat.

Who works better as a heel than face? Who, Why?
Kharma. I know, who cares about the womens division, they just fill time. Well, for 6 weeks or so a lot of people cared about the womens division when Kharma was destroying every Barbie doll they had. The face push she could have given Kelly Kelley could have made it matter, but when they went the "classy way", and had Kharma cry on RAW they desroyed her heel character.

Who do you want to turn now? Who, Why?
Randy Orton. He could give Sheamus a huge face push which would help balance the heel v face ratio on Smackdown, and as much as people would hate it, it could position Christian for a Wrestlemania face turn with Edge's help to end his career losing to Orton or the then face champion Sheamus.

Favorite Heel Turn? When, Who, Why?
HBK. He's had so many classic heel turns, but my favorite was turning on Hogan. It was damn nice to see HBK heel it up again, even if for but a little while.
Favorite Heel character? Who, Why?
Hollywood Rock. So annoyingly entertaining and charismatic. He was a big Hollywood star and the best wrestler going, and he played the role perfectly. Also, epic f'n entrance.
Who works better as a heel than face? Who, Why?
I'm tempted to say Rock again, but he is/was a pretty good face as well (even though face Rock bores me slightly). Same goes for Jericho. But just picking one, I'd have to agree with TC and say Heel Batista. Babyface Bats didn't do much for me, but his last heel run was amazing and truly his best work.
Who do you want to turn now? Who, Why?
I think it's too late for a Cena heel turn. Strange as it may seem, I think maybe a small submission-machine heel run would do wonders for Daniel Bryan. I love Bryan, but am totally underwhelmed with the way he has been booked up to this point. I'd also think of throwing a manager in with him (although it seems like the whole "return of the manager" rumors have turned out to be a bit false).

Favorite Heel Turn? When, Who, Why?
Not sure if it counts as a heel turn, but when Edge came back and had the crowd eating from his hand with the "spear" chants and then just layed it on thick.

Favorite Heel character? Who, Why?
The Miz, hands down. Miz, while I never had to high of an opinion of him, has turned out to be one hell of a heel. Consistently hated and golden on the mic (even if it is a bit too close to the way Jericho was right before he left), he is hands-down the best heel right now.

Who works better as a heel than face? Who, Why?
Randy Orton. Odd transition for him into the babyface role, but IMO he works better when he can be the sly heel and really sell the overaggressiveness.

Who do you want to turn now? Who, Why?
I'm with a lot of the other guys, there are too many heels now, and I'm not sure any of the good guys have the kind of mic skills to transition into a heel and pull it off very well.

Favorite Heel Turn? When, Who, Why?
JBL. At the time Bradshaw was a tag team, mid-card guy, nothing real exciting. When he came out with the wall street gimmick, and went right to the top of Smackdown, WWE champ and all, he got over in a big way. The guy could work the mic, cheated to keep the belt, and had heat on him for months on end.

Favorite Heel character? Who, Why?
HHH. He does heel so well. Almost seems like a waste when he's face, HBK or not. Even if you like him, you can't can't help but hate him.

Who works better as a heel than face? Who, Why?
Kane. He can go so much further with the evil, scary, monster character. It seems like he has to hold back when he's a face.

Who do you want to turn now? Who, Why?
Rey Mysterio. It would really shake his persona up, disappoint the kiddies, make him interesting again. As previously stated, they have plenty of heels right now. Although some of them aren't all that interesting.

Favorite Heel Turn? When, Who, Why?
10/10/10 Bound for Glory . Jeff Hardy. Mainly because he was never truly a heel before hand (bit of a shocker for me). I liked his heel promos, I know they weren't amazing, but he seemed to be better on the mic when he was a heel as oppose to him on the mic as a face.
Favorite Heel character? Who, Why?
Dolph Ziggler. I know me picking Dolph as favorite heel is kind of dumb, but I just truly love his work in the ring.Hes one of the best in ring workers today sells great, has good timing, and he has a great set of moves. Hopefully we can hear him on the mic more often.
Who works better as a heel than face? Who, Why?
Randy Orton. I just think his heel work is better than his face work. i haven't really seen anything exciting from him yet as a face personally.

Favorite Heel Turn? When, Who, Why?
R-Truth, I love it, because he's letting all of you lil' Jimmy's out there know, y'all about to "get got"!

Favorite Heel character? Who, Why?
CM Punk, He's being a pest to Cena(who is a major face, don't understand why he get booed) and doing a hell of a job at it.

Who works better as a heel than face? Who, Why?
Randy Orton, as a face he's boring, but back when he and his father was together vs the undertaker, to me that angle was the most interesting to watch.

Who do you want to turn now? Who, Why?
Rey Mysterio, back in WCW he was a heel with the filthy animals, but they got cheered anyways, so I would love to see a rey myssterio vs sin cara feud or a rey vs jusin thunder liger feud(a reach) So we can see rey's other side. He was around eddie all of them years, I'm sure he picked up some tips on how to be entertaining face or heel.

favorite heel turn: Matt Hardy. I always liked Matt Hardy in the beginning of the version 1 era, so when he hit Jeff Hardy with the chair at the Royal Rumble, it was golden!

fave heel character: The Miz. No explanation needed. Just watch his promos

who works better as a heel: MVP. When he debuted as the hottest free agent in Smackdown, he was awesome!

who do i want to turn: Eve Torres. I could just see a Kelly Kelly/Eve fued coming, and if she wins the battle royal tonight, i think that they're going to turn her

Favorite Heel Turn: Hulk Hogan 96 Bash at the Beach, it just changed the wrestling world forever, even to this day, it brought us the magnificent Attitude Era during the Monday Night Wars. Hogans heel turn was unexpected, nobody thought he'd join The Outsiders.

Favorite Heel Character: R-Truth, I cant think of anybody that went from low mid card to the Main Event so fast like R-Truth because of a heel turn, not to mention that hes a funny yet not a comedic character like Santino.

Who works better as a heel than face: Kane, during his heel run last year, my god... he was golden on the mic, He was looking to be in great shape, he was doing fantastic, that Heel turn turned him into a World Champion again, and the best Championship reign in the past couple years, While he was a heel, he beat Undertaker numerous times, 3 times in a Row on PPV. He beat Rey Mysterio and Edge, he just did fantastic as a heel.

cool thread...heres my 2 cents...

Favourite Heel Turn:
I have 2 choices...First is Shawn Michaels when he turned on Hulk Hogan back in 2005 because quite frankly i totally did not expect that to happen and i just loved it. Second is more recent and that would deffinatly be R-Truth, he is kind of been turned into a comedy character lately but when it initially happened it was great and completely reinvigorated his character and also started the trend of edgy PG tv when he lit up a cigarette after beating down JoMo. Great Stuff.

Favourite Heel Character?
Im really really diggin mark henry as of late and i think he is being booked perfectly for the first time in his career. I totally get that the guy is a monster and could do damage to anyone. Probably the best work of his career IMO.

Who works better as a heel than a face?
I think pretty much everyone because quite frankly playing a bad guy is 10x more fun and there is alot more you can do with that. Its also much easier to be booed than it is to be cheered. But just randomly picking a name off the top of my head id go for punk. Born to be the bad guy.

Who do you want to turn now?
Id love to say Rey but if im honest i just could not see him getting over a serious heel, he is just too small to be taken seriously as a threat and his moveset is too fun to be booed. Other than that im gonna think outside the box here and say...The King! i mean come on, i think its safe to say that everybody who uses these forums want the king to be back drooling over divas and making fun of everyone and anyone.

Favorite Heel Turn? When, Who, Why?
Hogan, def. Dont care as much now, but i was a kid when it happened, and it was HUGE.

Favorite Heel character? Who, Why?
Kurt Angle. He draws well as a heel, and is alot of fun to watch.

Who works better as a heel than face? Who, Why?
R-Truth. I thought his face gimmick got kinda stale, but his new heel gimmick is GREAT and alot of fun to watch.

Who do you want to turn now? Who, Why?
Cena. I'd like to see something different from him, and turning him heel would be Hogan-esque and would send shockwaves throughout the WWE.

Favorite Heel Turn? When, Who, Why?
I enjoyed Matt Hardy turning on his brother at the Royal Rumble. It was a pretty emotional thing to see him finally blast his brother in the head with a steel chair, especially in a match that included Matt's longtime rival Edge.

Favorite Heel character? Who, Why?
CM Punk. Punk's run with Jeff Hardy was great and I especially loved his trash-talking on the mic during the following Royal Rumble. And of course his work over the last month has been superb with some of most interesting promos of the last few years. Punk is the best thing going today and the main reason why I am watching Raw.

Who works better as a heel than face? Who, Why?
Edge was way way more interesting as a heel. I was pretty bored by his last year as face. His feud with Jericho at WM26 and his feud with Kane and Del Rio at the end of last year and beginning of this year was a real waste of his talents. His best moments all came as a heel, from his tag team with Christian in 2000 to his main event run as the ultimate opportunist.

Who do you want to turn now? Who, Why?
John Cena needs to turn. I think it will be difficult for Punk to truly take the main event spot as a crowd favorite if Cena is still in that spot. I think a Cena heel turn could eventually help turn Punk into a huge huge star as a fan favorite. Furthermore, I'd like to see a fresh spin on the Cena/Rock match for 'Mania rather than a rehash of what they did earlier this year. I think a heel Cena would make that match much more interesting. And if Taker is around for the following 'Mania after that, how about a heel Cena trying to end the streak? Good guy Cena has bored me to death for years now. I would love for the heel turn to happen.

Favorite Heel Turn? When, Who, Why?
It has to be Hogan joining NWO I was a kid and i couldnt believe it

Favorite Heel character? Who, Why?
CM Punk the promos he has a heal are amazing

Who works better as a heel than face? Who, Why?
Kane easy now kane as a face is a jobber but last year when he was a monster heel he was taken serious

Who do you want to turn now? Who, Why?
Kane same reasons as both he is a bit of a joke now

Favorite Heel Turn: When, Who, Why?
Though not as memorable as Hogan joining the NWO, when HHH turned on his childhood idol, Ric Flair. Triple H returned from injury in 2005, appearing on an episode of Raw. He teamed with Flair against oppenents I don't remember. Afterwards, HHH took a sledgehammer to Flair's head, and beat Flair till he was a bloody mess. I will forever remember that segment and their fued afterwards.

Favorite Heel Character: Who, Why?
There are so many great heel characters! Gorgeous George, Ted Dibiase, Iron Sheik, Abby the Butcher, Flair, and McMahon. However, the greatest heel ever in my opinion is Freddie Blassie. Once, a fan threw acid on Fred's back! That dude must have been a PENIC NECK GEEK!!! Freddie was everything but classy, making him the greatest heel character ever!

Who Works Better as a Heel Than a Face: Who, Why?
While I think that Randy Orton has been stale and boring recently, he will always work better as a heel. Currently, Orton is the main face of Smackdown, and honestly is incredibly boring in my opinion. Orton has had multiple successful heel runs, however few of his face turns work. With his new "viper" character, Orton is a better heel than face!

Who Do You Want To Turn Heel Now: Who, Why?
Honestly, Cena has become really stale over the past 2 or more years. While Cena is involved in an angle with Punk, maybe over the next year, Cena should turn heel. It could be as big as Hogan joining the NWO. While WWE may need a face to step up against Cena, I believe Cena shall turn heel in the next several years...

Favorite Heel Turn? When, Who, Why?
I am going to think outside the box and say Tyson Kidd, when he broke away from the Hart Dynasty. I have been watching his incredible series of matches with Yoshi Tatsu on NXT and his style of wrestling flows better as a heel. Yet he has this, goofy point and laugh in your face personality that reminds me of Jerry Lawler mixed with Chris Benoit. He has a very bright upside, and should/better be a big player in the main event picture within the next 3 years.
Favorite Heel character? Who, Why?
Mark Henry to me, his unstoppable monster character is really entertaining to me. He has the size and attitude to make his gimmick very believable. Seeing him take out other big monsters like Kane & Big Show really got him over. I am really looking forward to him and Sheamus feud.
Who works better as a heel than face? Who, Why?
LayCool. Both ladies are incredibly bland as face divas, like all other face divas. However with them playing the whole mean girls game, they brought some personality and entertainment to the utterly bland divas division. And for a while, they were the onlything that was mildly entertaining on Smackdown.
Who do you want to turn now? Who, Why?
Oh MY FREAKING GAWD, will somebody PLEASE flip the script on KOFI KINGSTON!!!! Have him be this ruthless remorseless assassian.... take the calm cool deceptive demeanor of the heel Jake Roberts, the "I could snap" factor of Ken Shamrock mix in a little Ludwig Borga and Bad New Brown and you have the perfect heel character for Kofi Kingston...

Favorite Heel Turn?

-Shawn Michaels heel turn in 2005 against Hogan. I was about 10 at the time, it literally shocked the living crap out of me. From the superkick to the dark brooding look he gave Hogan while he was layed out, I was hooked on the angle. Sadly, Hogan had to go fck it up, but it was fun while it lasted

Favorite Heel Character?

-R Truth, no question. He went from a borderline minstrel show to the reason I tuned into Raw. If we disregard the 04 timeframe you put, then I'd include the "Hollywood" Rock from his feud with Austin. That was, without a doubt, my favorite Rock incarnation of all time.

Who works better as a heel than a face?

-Mark Henry. To be honest, I actually expected great things when he turned face on Orton a while back. Needless to say I was wrong. But every time Henry goes heel, he gets instant recognition, and this is one of his best heel turns to date.

Who Do I Want To Turn Heel?

-John Cena. I'm not gonna go through the whole logistics because I know that the IWC wore this topic out already, but It's be great to see the cheap rapping Eminem knockoff Cena come out and diss someone without PG restrictions.
