No, ____ should not turn heel.

Flame on.
"Oh, I think (insert name) should be turned heel."
"I think the only thing holding (insert name) back is the fact he's face."
"(Insert name) should be turned heel and pushed."
Shut the fuck up.

I don't know how many times I read something similar to the above phrases a day on these forums. Seriously, it seems like people are simply saying it out of habbit now. Lets take this bit by bit.

(Consistently) active faces:
The Undertaker
Randy Orton
John Cena
Rey Mysterio
The Big Show
Daniel Bryan
Kofi Kingston
R Truth
John Morrison
MVP
Matt Hardy *on his way out
Mark Henry(ish)
The Great Khali(ish)
Evan Bourne(ish)
Kaval(ish)

I have heard people say that John Cena, John Morrison, MVP and Mark Henry need a heel turn, or should have one. That would leave a very few face midcarders and only three top faces, only one of which would be on Raw.

(Consistenely) active heels:
Nexus (6 men)
Sheamus
Edge
The Miz w/Alex Riley
Kane
CM Punk
Dolph Ziggler
Jack Swagger
Codey Rhodes
Drew McIntyre
Alberto Del Rio
Ted DiBiase

Look at the names on that loaded heel midcard. Now picture adding John Morrison, Mark Henry and MVP to it.

There are enough strong young heels at the moment (especially on Smackdown!) Adding more doesn't benefit anyone and at the end of the day there needs to be faces to feud with. Sure, it's easier to get over being heel as opposed to face, but not everyone can get that advantage. Also, if a superstar wants to be big, they have to learn to get over no matter what character they play.

Anyway, that was my rant and here are my questions:
1) Who do you think should be turned heel (if anyone) and why?
2) If these people were turned heel, should anyone be turned face to compensate for the gap they'd leave? If so who, and why?
3. Which current heels do you think would make an effective face?

1. Montel Vontavious Porter. Because he was somewhat interesting when he was heel, and ever since his face turn he hasn't done anything, and I mean anything.

2. No; I think things would still be pretty balanced. There is a good flux of heels compared to the face ratio.

3. Edge. I know that is possibly everyone else's last idea of a Superstar face turn, but bare with me. In the early 2000s I would argue he was perhaps one of the most exciting faces whose names were not The Rock or Austin. He has a major fanbase still and I think merchandise would go up more if he was in fact playing as a good guy. My opinion.

1. I would also go with MVP. MVP is in desperate need for something good to happen, and I don't know whose idea it was for him to turn face, but he needs to turn heel fast or his character is going to fade out.

2. Not really, WWE is in need of some new interesting characters.

3. I would turn CM Punk into something of a tweener like Orton is doing. I think he'd be more effective this way, since SES is gone.

1) I actually have a couple; MVP because he has a lot of potential as a main-eventing heel, not face. John Cena, although I really don't wanna think of him as a heel but he needs to fix his crowd reaction, only a heel turn- leading to a face turn for Cena will help him. (And with that happening, Trips needs to come back before that.)

2) As for MVP, I was thinking about Jack Swagger being a face, it could work and keep him going with going out with luck for future endeavors. For Cena, they could bring back Triple H OR they could always push John Morrison into the main-event scene on RAW.

3) I too, think Edge could be a great face but, I think that he could save that for his retirement, like in a last promo or something. Chris Jericho should become Y2J again but, knowing WWE they'll bring him back and say that Orton's punt made him forget everything and become the old Y2J or something like that. :lmao: My last one is a kinda stupid when I think about it, but it could be what he needs. I think that Wade Barrett should turn face just to elevate him into the main-event. I think they should make the rest of Nexus turn on him. That kind of seems like they did it too much before but, I think with his talent, he can make it work.

Great post. :)

John Cena, for a variety of reasons, he hasn't been heel for about six/seven years, thats almost as long as hogan, and in the end hogan changed and caused one of the biggest stirs in wrestling history in a positive way

2)It would stop people like me complaining about superman cena era if he was restricted and bound to nexus, par example.

3)He may well have the chance to do something unprecedented, picture this cena becomes part of the nexus, and comes to the ring a few times when they attack, he starts to get the taste for the power of it and kicks out barret and becomes leader himself which naturally all other members let him him. In return , barrett becomes face, if it can be done properly and top flight as well so you dont have to worry about lack of top faces in raw anymore. Although having an englishguy whos been here for less than a year replace cena maybe isnt the way to go, but you see I'm thinkin, and if the writers get a good idea, it'll create that same turbulance hogan did in 1996 to a lesser extent and i think bring attention and money to vince's back pocket, a sure talking point anyway.

4)I didnt used to watch wwe from about 2002 up to 2008 but i have been told that heel rapper cena was vastly more entertaining than supercena, and i dont think he could be any worse

I think thats pretty much it, now this could probably not happen at all because it may mean losing potential money from having both of cena's arms being broken off and having him stabbed a hundred times and him still winning at the main event at WM, but at least itll give something for the wrestling fans to talk about and honestly seen as wrestling as a business is on a downward spiral I'm not sure vince can afford to play safe anymore or people will lose interest, he needs controversy and new things to happen, thats what the attitude era was after all, the controversy and thats what brought wrestling to the mauiinstream, sooner or later unless he wants those profits to keep sliding, every so often vinnie mac is gonna have to blow the door off the hinges. TNA are doing their part, they are honestly trying as hard as theyre limited scripts can manage with theyre 10/10/10 storyline, which i do by the way think is a good thing, for reasons i expressed in another thread, wwe need to up the anty, not easy in this era of PG programming but they got to try, Imean what the most extreme thing that recently happened in WWE, a bunch of 'rookies' came in and attacked a man at a time who by next week would be ready foor more, so it wouldn't prove anything. At least in TNA RVD was put out of action and cut to ribbons, it is an image thats sticks in your head, always a good thing

1) Who do you think should be turned heel (if anyone) and why?

I'm going to go with Triple H o n this one. The reason is because I just don't find him that interesting or entertaining as a face. His whole face run has gotten to be really redundant. The WWE lacks a dominant heel at the momment; And I figure, why not have Triple H filling in that role. Triple H is amazing as a heel. The Evolution days says it all.

Sure, he would always want to be in the main event picture, and it did get somewhat annoying. But even still, Triple H has the perfect look; build; psychological attribution to make it look believable. Basically, he's perfect for the role. Hopefully, when he returns to the squared circle, he will come back as a heel.

I definately believe Triple H turning heel could benefit WWE alot more than keeping him face. Its been a while since it last happened; should be rather interesting to see it happen (if it does).

2) If these people were turned heel, should anyone be turned face to compensate for the gap they'd leave? If so who, and why?

Probably. I don't really know whether to say yes or no on this. There seems to be alot more [main-event] heels than [main-event] faces. On the other hand, I can't really picture anyone in the current roster that is a heel play a decent enough face.

3) Which current heels do you think would make an effective face?

None. Here's why...

Nexus is a faction vent on taking over the WWE and establishing them as a dominant force; it would be really lack-luster seeing them as faces.

Sheamus's appearance screams heel---it's hard picturing him as a face.

Edge is very boring as a face. "SPEAR_SPEAR_SPEAR" says it all.

The Miz: I don't see why people keep thinking he would make a good face. Miz is perfect as a heel; he has more liberty in his mic-skills; and he plays a wonderful role as a heel.

CM Punk: No way. CM Punk is gold as a heel. The only problem is that WWE has been booking him as shit---which I really hate.

All the others: No chance in hell. Just about everyone [that is already heel] is good as they are (w/the exception of Triple H)...if they aren't, then it's possible they just need a refresher in their character (not face turn---REFRESHER, as in a decent feud and storyline...perhaps a gimmic change.)...

The heel midcard is great. The face midcard sucks. The face maineventers are strong. The heel maineventers are weak. Well gang, seems to me they need to elevate some heels to main event status, and turn some of the heels faces. So, I will say Dolph Ziggler turns face, Punk and Del Rio to main event status. Also, Taker Orton Cena Misterio need to LOSE sometimes to establish more crediblity with the heels in the main event scene.

Honestly the whole roster is thin they really should just combine the 2 brands, but that will yield problems as well.

1. John Cena: He has been a face for far to long now and turning him heel would really freshen up his character. Sure, Vince won't turn him heel because the kids love him and he sells way to much merchandise for Vince to even think of turning him heel.

2. None: All of them you've listed wouldn't make decent faces. Except maybe Punk.

3. Edge: Instead of turning one of them face, I think that Edge could've been used as a tweener, similar to Orton. Idk I am just tired of seeing Edge as a heel constantly.

3. Which current heels do you think would make an effective face?

1) MVP; he was brilliant as a heel and should've stayed heel, he isn't going to get anywhere as a face because he's boring as a face.

2) Nobody.

3. Edge: Instead of turning one of them face, I think that Edge could've been used as a tweener, similar to Orton. Idk I am just tired of seeing Edge as a heel constantly.
I agree, I don't want to see the cheesy Edge who gets the crowd chanting "Spear, Spear, Spear" but I'm getting a little bored of him constantly being heel, so I would make him a tweener.

1. John Cena is a natural reaction because a lot of people are tired of his gimmick, and believe he is stale. I am not disagreeing with that at all. But, the guy, I personally would like to see turn is Christian. I think they should turn him Heel and move him over to Raw. I think he could feud with any one of the Raw Faces and could have a good program with even the lamest Face. To me, he is a much more effective Heel than Face.

2. I don't think anyone needs to turn to compensate for Christian's turn. But, if he was turned, and moved to Raw, I would like to see someone be sent to SD to compensate for the loss of talent. For whatever reason, I would like to see Sheamus on SmackDown.

3. There are a lot of Heels that would make an effective Face. I'll say Jericho, to just narrow it down to one guy. No matter how much shit he talks to the crowd, he still is bombarded with cheers. So, I think a Y2J return, at least for the moment, would be more than effective, and would be as over as over CAN BE!!
