Domestic football - spam version

I think you'll find the season started last weekend Lee ;)

Also, still 100% (until Saturday at least) after two games thanks to this beauty:

Guess which player said this:

"I was born in Oldham but started supporting Newcastle from watching Alan Shearer as a kid. I admired how he played, so that’s where the Newcastle connection came in.

"I was the only one in my family who supported Newcastle, just because of Shearer. I got a lot of stick from my mates because, coming from Oldham, they were all (Manchester) United fans."

French player Obertan born in Oldham? Close but no cigar.

Not Colback either, he's from Northumberland.

I'll give you a clue he now plays for Sunderland.

Yes! Will Buckley Newcastle United fan.

Here's another:

“I was at Newcastle when I was a kid from 10-12 before I went to Middlesbrough.” “So I grew up supporting Newcastle and David Ginola and players like that.”

“It’s fantastic to playing against north-east teams.” “These are the type of games I want to be playing in.”

Haha no, he's not a Geordie.

The answer is Sunderland born Adam Johnson.

Last one:

When asked who he would support if his beloved Newcastle United ceased to exist.

He responded: “Put it this way. I would stay as far away from Sunderland as I could.

“It would probably have to be Gateshead.”

Pardew and Iron Sheik!

"Alan Pardew and his anger management trainer are optimistic about the new season"

Charlton, trying to entice me to renew my season ticket, have sent me a complimentary ticket for the first home game of the season versus Wigan. I already had one - one which I spent twenty-eight fucking pounds on.

I don't think they'll go down, but they'll struggle for sure. Pulis' reputation has been enhanced even if his job prospects are smaller now - I very much doubt chairmen with tighter purse strings (usually the sort of clubs he'd attract) will hire him based on these arguments over finances etc...

That's now official. Time to take the Palace players out my fantasy team.

Bet Victor has Scott Sinclair higher odds of scoring on Sunday than Shola Ameobi. The same Shola Ameobi who doesn't play for Newcastle.

Annual predict the league table:

1. Chelsea
2. Manchester City
3. Liverpool (we're back to being stupidly optimistic again)
4. Manchester United
5. Arsenal
6. Spurs
7. Everton
8. Newcastle
9. Stoke
10. Sunderland
11. West Ham
12. Queen's Park Rangers
13. Southampton
14. Swansea
15. Leicester
16. Hull
17. Crystal Palace
18. Aston Villa
19. Burnley
20. West Brom

That bottom half are all completely shit. Sunderland are not good, but I genuinely couldn't see any of those beneath them finishing higher.

Top Scorer: Daniel Sturridge
Player of the Season: Cesc Fabregas
Young Player of the Season: Ross Barkley
First Manager to leave: Alan Irvine
Champions League: Bayern Munich
Europa League: Monaco
