Jesus, what the fuck is Redknapp rabbiting on about? Fair enough, I've been to the pub all afternoon, but I could swear he's trying to cast a spell on me with all his jibbering.

Crazy 'arry.

I think he was basically saying "I thought these players don't give a fuck so I sent them out in the cup to see if they could prove me wrong. They didn't"

Redknapp is such a confusing manager. He changes his mind on whether or not he likes his players evey week it seems. In other news Dundee United Manager Hunt: Day 2 is underway and thus far Elvis remains the best candidate.

If only Pep hadn't agreed to join Bayern in July. Imagine what a massive swerve that would have been, English papers would have lost their shit.

'Guardiola joins United! ...in Dundee?!'

We all thought that FIFA cancelled the intercontinental Cup back in 2005. Nope. It was Wade Barrett today.

Although Sepp Blatter is a much more hated heel than Barrett.

The quality of England's Football team in a nut shell

I was sat in front of an Italian guy and an English guy at Fulham v West Ham last night. Throughout the game the English Guy had been explaining who players were and so on:

Stadium Announcer: West Ham substitution, coming off is number 26 Joe Cole; coming on is number 8 Andy Carroll.

Italian Guy: Andy Carroll?

English Guy: Yeah, he..

Italian Guy: Is he the one that plays for England in Euros?

English Guy: Yeah

Italian Guy: So the England striker is a West Ham sub?

English Guy: Yeah

Italian Guy: Wow

Brilliant, Villa. Signing a French Under-21 league 2 midfielder. Just the top-quality experienced central defender we've been crying out for. Brilliant.

Well we got a new manager. Not overly happy with the appointment, but that's not to say it'll be bad.

I'd rather we had a caretaker in position until the end of the season (it's not like we're going to do anything in the league, and I'm not exactly expecting us to win the Scottish Cup) and then we give the position some proper review. We seem to have rushed to appoint someone to keep the dressing room stable I guess.

I'd also have rather we got Steven "Elvis" Pressley as he used to play for us, but that's personal preference and MacNamara has got a slightly better track-record.

If Norwich bid a 5th time for Gary Hooper and it goes through, I expect someone to do a spinaroonie. Preferably Lennon.

Butland going to Stoke is likely to fuel the 'Begovic to United' rumours. De Gea is still young and getting far too much of a spotlight on him so it would be far too hasty to think about moving him on. If Lindegaard was the one who moved I wouldn't be too outraged, but I doubt Begovic is keen to make a move that leaves him on a bench.

The awkward moment when the translator who is translating David Beckham's answers into French begins saying it in English and realizes halfway through...

The reporter at Villa managed to make a Cilla Black joke about Sylla, 'twas pretty good.

if that doesn't turn out to be all he's good for, I'll be stunned.

On another note, max respect to David Beckham. A lot of footballers say they aren't moving for the money, but this is the only example I can think of where the player backs it up.

Yep, very refreshing news. He's been a great bloke for a fair while though.

I'm just wondering if other clubs knew of Beckhams intention to donate his wages to charity.

Dull is an understatement. That Deadline Day was fucking horrendous. There was absolutely nothing to get people excited. I guess it comes down to the world wide recession and how the game is going to be played from now on. No one seems to be able to afford what they were a few years ago.

Well, all except the Russians. £30m for Willian!? That's one of those deals that you think is over the mark but actually, compared to everyone else, is a pretty decent price for both parties involved.

Also, with regards to Celtic, I must say that I'm completely underwhelmed. The most important thing is that we kept Gary Hooper. With the game against Juventus coming up, we're going to need his fire power and everything else to possibly get past for the first time in the recent era.

Apart from that, there's no news that got me excited. I thought for sure that we would have gotten another player in today. Whether that was Doyle, Davies or Russell, then I would have been happy. But an unusually quiet window from Lenton has left me unsatisfied.

Haha the BBC have said that maybe Ferguson meant a 'Oui Club in the North East'.
